Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Best Friend

"She is Olivia’s best friend, how can I...like her!" Theodore muttered with a blushing face.

Aurora was stunned.

Olivia’s best friend?

Her fingers twitched slightly as she processed Theodore’s words.

"Olivia’s best friend, huh?" she echoed, watching Theodore’s expression carefully.

Theodore, still picking out his night suit, pretended to be nonchalant. But the pink hue on his ears betrayed him.

"Yeah, so what? It’s not a big deal!" he said quickly, throwing his clothes onto the bed.

Aurora narrowed her eyes.

"Brother..." she started, her voice slow and deliberate, "If it’s ’not a big deal,’ then why do you look like someone just caught you sneaking an extra dessert?"

Theodore stiffened. "I—I don’t!"

Aurora hummed thoughtfully. "You do. And you know what that means?"

Theodore turned around, crossing his arms.

"It means my nosy little sister is overthinking again?"

Aurora smirked, but deep down, she felt uneasy.

’I hope so.’ She thought and left the room.

At the dinner table, Theodore was back to his cheerful self and said,

"Hey, Olivia how was your outing?"

His question sounded casual in everyone’s ears but Aurora saw something no one did...eagerness and interest.

From when did Theodore start to take an interest in Olivia? Or her outing?

The 3 years gap might have been too long because Olivia shrugged and answered,

"Good, Eleanor wanted to explore the newly opened Star Icon’s store."

"Oh? Did she like anything?" Theodore asked.

"Yeah, a pencil lip liner of shade 26. But I feel shade 12 was much better." Olivia answered.

Theodore hummed thoughtfully, swirling his spoon in his soup as if deep in contemplation.

"Shade 26, huh?" he muttered under his breath.

Aurora, who had been observing her brother closely, nearly choked on her drink.

Did Theodore just commit a lipliner shade to memory? Was he actually paying attention to Eleanor’s preferences?

This was getting worse than she had imagined.

There was someone else who had noticed Theodore’s abnormal condition but didn’t think of pointing it out.

It was Lucas.

However, he wasn’t in the mood to comment.

There were faint dark circles under his eyes, indicating how stressed he was.

"Alright don’t talk about casual stuff, we should be focusing on our little star." He announced with a smile.

At his words, everyone nodded and one by one started to cheer.

They chatted for a while before, Olivia turned toward Aurora and said,

"Auro, be careful of the people living in apartment number 205, they have pretty bad tempers and argue at the smallest issue, also keep a distance from the guy of apartment number 109, the mother of that guy has a patriarchal thinking.

Oh! The people living in apartment number 603, have a strange obsession with taking advantage of others.

You know the first time we moved in, the uncle of apartment 603, tried to set up his daughter with Lucas thinking we owned the apartment."

"Got it," Aurora nodded. "I’ll be careful."

"Good," Olivia said, leaning back in her chair.

"Also, don’t get too close to the lady from apartment 307. She’s nosy and spreads rumors like wildfire.

Last month, she almost started a scandal about Eleanor dating a married man just because she saw her talking to her professor in a café."

Aurora’s grip on her fork tightened at the mention of Eleanor.

Lucas, who had been silent for most of the conversation, sighed and rubbed his temples.

"Can we not talk about the neighbors like this? It’s already exhausting dealing with them in real life. The last thing I need is their drama at the dinner table too."

Olivia huffed but didn’t argue. "Fine, fine. But Auro needs to be prepared."

The conversation eventually shifted to lighter topics, with Theodore cracking jokes again and momentarily returning to his usual self.

After dinner, as Aurora was helping clear the table, she felt a nudge on her shoulder.

She turned to find Olivia giving her a knowing look.

"What?" Aurora asked, feigning innocence.

"You’re worried about Theodore, aren’t you?" Olivia said in a low voice.

Aurora stiffened. "Why would I be?"

Olivia crossed her arms.

"Come on, I know you better than that. You were staring at him all throughout dinner like he was a ticking time bomb."

Aurora hesitated before sighing. "I just... I didn’t expect him to be so interested in Eleanor."

At this, Olivia blinked in surprise before letting out a short laugh.

"Oh, is that it? Relax, Auro. Theodore’s just naturally friendly. He asks about my friends all the time. Not to mention Eleanor is a good person."

Aurora forced a smile and said,

"Maybe."

Olivia patted on Aurora’s back and didn’t take her seriously. She took Aurora’s plate and said,

"Now don’t do any work, and rest properly, once you recover I will make you do all the house chores. For the past few years, I have been waiting for you to wake so that I can sit back and make you do all the chores."

Aurora rolled her eyes.

Can’t Olivia just say that her heartaches when she sees a weak and pitiful Aurora work?

Olivia even after so many years, couldn’t hide her poisonous tongue.

Only people like her could act like a white lotus and say sentences with hidden meanings, with ease.

Just as Aurora was about to argue, Olivia left.

Shaking her head, Aurora walked toward her room, but she suddenly felt a bit dizzy.

She leaned toward one of the walls for support and waited for the dizziness to pass.

Lucas who came out of his room, saw her and his face turned pale. He rushed toward her and held her in his arms,

"Auro what happened?"

Aurora blinked, trying to shake off the dizziness as Lucas’s worried gaze bore into her. She let out a small breath and forced a weak smile.

"I’m fine, Brother. Just a little dizzy."

Lucas wasn’t convinced. He scooped her in his arms and walked toward the couch in the living room.

Placing her gently on the couch, he asked,

"You don’t look fine. Did you overexert yourself today?"

Aurora shook her head.

"No, I was just walking to my room when it suddenly hit me. It’s nothing serious."

Lucas sighed and sat beside her.

"You’re still recovering, Auro. Don’t push yourself too hard."

Hearing the seriousness in his tone, Aurora softened.

"I know. I just don’t want to be treated like I’m fragile."

Lucas exhaled heavily but chose not to argue.

Instead, he reached for a bottle of water on the nearby table and handed it to her.

"Drink this. And no more running around for today."

Aurora took the bottle with a small smile. "Yes, sir."

After Aurora felt better, Lucas helped her inside the room and tucked in her bed,

"Sleep early you will recover soon."

Aurora nodded her head.

Once Lucas left, Aurora stared at the ceiling and started to think about the day’s events.

Just then she heard the sound of the door clicking open. Aurora closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.

Someone lightly tiptoed to her location and carefully placed her hand on Aurora’s forehead.

The fragrance of jasmine enveloped Aurora.

In an instant, she knew that person was Adriana.

A light whisper sounded,

"Her forehead is not hot...so she definitely doesn’t have a fever. I should ask Simon to come here tomorrow..."

Slowly the sound faded and the door was shut again.

Aurora opened her eyes and sighed.

.......................................

The next morning.

Aurora had her breakfast and was practicing walking in her room when Emily entered the room.

She closed the room behind her and said,

"Aurora, do you want to meet Alex?"

Aurora blinked before asking,

"I do, but how can I see him?"

Emily gave a mysterious smile as she announced,

"While you were in a coma, I created an alias for you. Using this alias I made investments in the other companies. You are quite well-known in the investment circle and many startups try to seek you."

Aurora was surprised, before smiling softly,

"Thank you so much."

Without her, Emily took care of everything and even made it simple for her to meet Alex.

But Aurora’s smile didn’t last long. She couldn’t let anyone know about her wealth, especially her family members...

Suddenly an idea sparked in her mind and she said,

"I want to disguise myself."

Emily raised an eyebrow but nodded, misunderstanding Aurora’s concerns.

After all, Aurora might get targeted and considering Aurora’s poor health, it would be better if Aurora hid her appearance.

"That’s a good idea. Do you already have something in mind?" she asked, leaning against the door with her arms crossed.

Aurora pondered for a moment before replying,

"I’ll need a wig, colored contact lenses, and some makeup to change my facial features slightly. Nothing too dramatic, just enough to avoid recognition."

Emily smirked.

"Lucky for you, I already have everything you need. I’ve been preparing for this moment in case you ever woke up and needed to move around unnoticed."

Aurora chuckled. "You really thought of everything, didn’t you?"

Emily shrugged. "A capable assistant is always ready!"
