Prologue – Part 2

Yuuya and the others were discussing the new transfer student with excitement.

Kitaraku, the student council president, was busy making plans.

The most immediate of these plans was to invite Yuuya and the others to the inn run by Kitaraku’s family and arrange a photo shoot for a small magazine article about school idols.

To that end, he called the president of Star Productions to arrange for a photography crew.

“So, how’s it going? Are the preparations going smoothly?”

“Yes, of course. We’re starting an entertainment department next year, so we thought we needed a project to promote Ousei Academy again.”

“That’s very thoughtful. In that case, I’ll leave it to you.”

“Yes, by the way, where are you planning to shoot?”

“I was thinking of filming at my family’s inn. It has an attached ski resort, so we can show a different side of the school.”

“A ski resort… That sounds nice. But this trip is supposed to be a reward for Yuuya-kun and the others, right? Is that okay?”

“Yes… Since only filming wouldn’t be much of a break, I’d like to keep it to a minimum.”

“I understand. The plan isn’t that big this time, so I’ll let the crew know to keep it simple.”

“Thank you. Oh, and please keep it a secret that the crew will be accompanying us.”

“What? That’s fine, but is there a reason?”

When the president asked over the phone, Kitaraku smiled.

“No, not really. I just think it’ll be more interesting to see Yuuya-kun and the others’ reactions!”

“…You’re still as funny as ever. It sounds like you’ve got other secret plans in the works.”

“Oh? I didn’t think you’d find out…”

“We’re partnering with your school next year, so it’s only natural. So, what are you up to?”

The president asked with an intriguing tone, but Kitaraku just smiled.

“It’s still a surprise.”

“Can’t you tell me even a little?”

“Well, if there’s one thing I can tell you… it’s that the school idol stage is part of my plan.”

“Hmm… If you say so, Kitaraku-kun, then there must be something else. Anyway, I understand about the interview, so I’ll get things moving.”

“Thank you!”

With that, Kitaraku hung up the phone.

“Now, I’ve invited Yuuya-kun and the others, and I’ve contacted the president about the interview. All that’s left is to figure out the rest of the plan. First, I should contact Tsukasa-san…”

Kitaraku gazed off into the distance.

“…I’m graduating soon, too. I guess I want to go out with a bang!”

With a cheerful smile, he got back to working on the plan.

The morning classes were over, and it was lunchtime.

As usual, I was having lunch with Ryo and the others in the school cafeteria.

“By the way, did you see the new transfer student?”

“No, I didn’t. Did you guys see him?”

When I asked, Ryo smiled.

“Actually, I saw him during the break between classes!”

“M-me too…”

“Oh, really?”

I usually prepared for the next class or went to the bathroom during the ten-minute break, so I rarely visited other classes like Ryo and the others did.

More than that, besides Kaori, I didn’t have any close friends in other classes.

As I found myself staring into the distance, Ryo continued excitedly.

“So, about that new transfer student… He was amazing!”

“A-amazing?”

I tilted my head, not understanding what he meant. Shingo-kun nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, he was amazing. It was like the shock I felt when I saw Yuuya-kun.”

“Me?”

I was even more confused.

What kind of shock did he feel when he saw me? What on earth was he talking about?

“Well, to put it simply, he was super handsome.”

“Handsome?”

“Yeah. How should I put it? Like an actor in an opera troupe?”

“Y-yeah, that’s kind of what he looked like.”

“Huh…”

If Ryo and Shingo-kun were making such a fuss over him, then he must be really handsome. But what about him was similar to me?

“Well… from what the two of you said, he was so handsome that it was surprising.”

“Yeah. When I went to see him, he was already surrounded by a bunch of girls.”

“T-the way he talked…he was like a real prince…”

“Ah, I happened to go with Akira. When he saw the transfer student, he shouted, “I’m not going to lose to him!” and ran away. He was completely defeated.”

“A-Akira-kun…”

Ryo’s blunt remark made Shingo-kun and I tighten our cheeks.

“But I see. So, a prince-like person was transferred here.”

Merl and the others had special backgrounds related to me, so it was natural that they had striking appearances and personalities. However, it was surprising that such an amazing person would transfer here.

Convinced it had nothing to do with me, I continued eating. Suddenly, I noticed the atmosphere around me had become noisy.

Then, Ryo noticed something and opened his eyes wide.

“H-hey…”

“Huh? What’s going──?”

“──Are you Yuuya Tenjou?”

“!”

Suddenly, a neutral voice called my name.

Surprised by the unfamiliar voice, I turned toward it. freēwēbnovel.com

“Oh…”

There stood a dignified male student.

He was about the same height as Shingo-kun, with silky black hair and purple eyes.

Just as Ryo had said, he had a neutral appearance that made him look like he could be a star in an opera troupe.

I’d probably get scolded by Akira for saying this, but he seemed more like a prince than Akira.

Now that I understood why everyone was making such a fuss, I tilted my head, wondering why he had called out to me.

“Um, yeah… that’s me…”

“I’m Yuzuki Komyoin. I’m also a transfer student, and I’m interested in you.”

“H-huh…

I couldn’t help but respond to Yuzuki’s words with a weak reaction.

Sure, I’m a transfer student, too, but why me?

Merl and Luna were much more popular than I am.

As I thought about that, Yuzuki looked me up and down as if appraising me.

“Hm…”

“Um… What is it?”

I asked, feeling uncomfortable. Suddenly, Yuzuki put on a cold expression.

“…What is this? Is that all you’ve got?”

“Huh?”

“No, it’s nothing. I was just disappointed to find out you’re not as impressive as I thought.”

“E-ehh!”

“Hey, hey! That’s rude for someone you just met!”

I was surprised by his sudden snide remark, but Ryo protested on my behalf.

However, Yuzuki-kun just glanced at Ryo, ignored him, and turned his back.

“H-hey, wait!”

Ignoring Ryo’s protests, Yuzuki-kun walked away.

“H-he’s gone…”

“What the hell is that guy… By the way, Rin said this morning that you don’t really know him, right?”

“Of course! We just met for the first time.”

“Then why did he say that to you?”

“I’d like to know that myself…”

He stared at me as if he were checking me out. Then, he seemed disappointed in me.

Since transferring to this school, this was the first time I’ve been treated so coldly. Though, I wouldn’t call it hostility.

I’ve certainly been treated with hostility by students from other schools and people from the other world, but never at Ousei Academy.

When I enrolled, they looked at my personality rather than my academic ability, so everyone was nice to me.

That’s why it felt so strange to be treated so coldly.

Maybe I did something to make him feel bad without realizing it.

If so, I’m really sorry.

Then, Ryo and the others came over to comfort me.

“I don’t really understand what happened, but don’t worry about it.”

“That’s right. Yuuya-kun is amazing, after all.”

“Exactly! I don’t know what made him think that, but Yuuya is awesome!”

“Ryo, Shingo-kun… thank you.”

Thanks to their kind words, I managed to get through the afternoon classes.

While Yuuya had lunch with Ryo and the others,

At the same time, Lexia and Luna were having lunch with Kaede and the others.

“Hmm… As always, the food in this cafeteria is delicious!”

Lexia said, stuffing her cheeks with the hamburger she had ordered.

Luna, who was eating salted salmon next to her, nodded in agreement.

“Yeah. They have dishes from other countries, too. It’s really amazing.”

“Haha! You’re right; the cafeteria at Ousei Academy is luxurious.

“It’s luxurious, but the prices are cheap, so it’s great.”

Kaede and Rin nodded in agreement with Luna and the others.

Then, Kaede suddenly remembered something.

“Oh, that reminds me! I’m thinking of having a Christmas party during winter break to celebrate Yuuya-kun and Kaori’s return. Would you guys like to join us?”

“A Christmas party?”

Unfamiliar with the term, Lexia and Luna tilted their heads in confusion.

Then Rin nodded in agreement with Kaede.

“That’s true; it’s more fun with a lot of people. Yuti is living with Yuuya-kun, right? We should invite her, too!”

Hearing this, Luna and Lexia looked at each other.

“You’re inviting us to a party with everyone else! I’m so happy!”

“But what exactly do you do at this Christmas party?”

“We’re thinking of bringing presents and exchanging them.”

“What’s that? Sounds fun!”

“Right? You should come too, Lexia-san!”

“I see. Then we should prepare gifts, too.”

Lexia nodded in response to Luna’s mutter.

“That’s right! Let’s go shopping for gifts together on our next day off!”

Thus, Lexia and the others decided to attend the Christmas party.
