The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 289: Ho Sun and Alix’s sibling rituals.
They were setting down extra plates and food for dinner when those who went to visit the chicken and canaries returned.
Tai Ho Sun was cradling his hand and Alix detected a faint smell of blood.
"What happened in there?"
"He tried to pet the chicken." Yuewei answered loudly. "It was not happy about it."
"I warned him." Nanny Wang too added her voice.
She had followed the guests specifically to keep them away from the demon chicken. The only person it didn’t attempt to attack at home was Alix. Other than her, nobody could touch it. Apart from that, it was a rather peaceful bird that preferred to be left alone.
Alix hissed. She looked at her elder brother with guilty eyes. "Sorry, i should have warned you not to touch it. Come, i will help you put on some medicine and bandage the wound."
"He is lucky that it didn’t bite off the entire finger." Chairman Tai said as he sat down. "Who in the world pets a chicken? You don’t cuddle it, you eat it."
Eager for payback, Ho Sun responded, "Can we eat it tonight?"
"Why would you eat your sister’s pet?" Auntie Mo asked him.
Tai Ho Sun glanced at Alix and he said, "Sister, why would you keep that vicious bird as a pet?"
"Demon___, demon bird." Nanny Wang called out.
Yuewei laughed and Tai Jiaan covered his mouth with his hand.
Alix dragged Ho Sun by the hand and led him away to the kitchen where she cleaned the wound on his right hand finger, applied medicine and wrapped a band aid over it. Perhaps the chicken would need another beating to learn not to attack humans. Nanny Wang was actually right about it being a demon bird. Real hens didn’t lay eggs with gold nuggets.
"If it loses it’s hostility then your nannies will start collecting the eggs personally. Imagine the shock on their faces when they crack the egg and see gold instead of raw eggs." The system reminded her.
Alix looked at Ho Sun’s finger and she changed her mind. This was a small wound, who knew if he would be tempted to approach it again. In fact, maybe the hostility of the chicken should be doubled in order to protect her secret better.
"In another news, you are now in fifth position. Please remember to log in and shoot some renegades whenever you get a free chance. We can’t have fans assuming that you have lost your edge."
"Who is ranking number one?"
"Your assasin, or spy, she is now a spy." It told her.
To Alix this was good news. Dark death was a friend so if she held the top position for now, it was a good thing.
The system did not share her opinion however and it made it clear. "Don’t be happy for her, she is your competitor not your friend. I hope you do not lose sight of what’s important host, victory, your victory. Solo rankings are individual achievements."
Alix had not forgotten that this was a competition. It was hard to forget because even Hero constantly reminded them of this fact. "I haven’t forgotten." she responded gruffly.
Ho Sun took her hand and shook it. "I know the wound is bad but you don’t need to frown like this."
"No, it’s not that." Alix replied and sighed. "Let’s go before dinner gets cold."
While they were leaving the kitchen Ho Sun said, "They want to sleep over, mom and dad. They won’t request but they want to, mom especially. You calling her mother is the highlight of the year."
Alix stopped her feet and paused. She turned and looked back at him.
"Do you mind?" she asked slowly.
"What? That you call my parents mom and dad." he said.
She nodded. It mattered to her what her brothers thought, especially him.
He smiled at her and chuckled. "Please, you are my sister. If you don’t call them mom and dad, who else will it be in the family?"
He suddenly lunged and put his arm around her neck. "Prepare for a life time of teasing and annoyances like this."
"Trying to put me in a headlock when I am stronger than you is a bit redundant elder brother." He could try, but he wouldn’t move her.
Ho Sun pouted and let go of her. His sister was the nations little superwoman, famous for her strength more than her classical music talents. He sighed as he thought about what other creative ways he could come up with to annoy her.
"I am not giving up." he told her.
She turned around and resumed the walk back to the dining room.
On her heels, Ho Sun continued on, "I will steal your toys, follow you around like this until you tell me that i am annoying and should stop it. I will steal your food when you are not looking...."
"Pffft!!" Alix covered her mouth and chortled.
Everything that Ho Sun was describing was typical sibling behavior but it was juvenile. Did he think they were teenagers?
Ho Sun was so happy that he justified his plans by saying, "It’s a rite of passage that you must endure now because we missed out on it when we were younger. Feel free to annoy me as well. I have always wanted a cute and occasionally whiny, sometimes annoying little sister that bothers me."
Alix smirked and decided to humor him immediately. As soon as she saw auntie Mo, she called out, "Mom, brother Ho Sun just put me in a headlock. He deserves a scolding because my neck hurts."
Auntie Mo was serving food to the boys when she heard Alix and she put down the rice immediately.
"What?" she reacted as expected, in the tone of a mother. "Ho Sun, why are you bothering your sister?" She looked at her husband and commanded, "Papa Xi, deal with this."
Tai Ho Sun’s mouth fell open at this point. It used to be papa Change but it had been changed to papa Xi now. His mother had been rewired completely and she was now a girl mom completely.
"Dad, look." Alix pointed to her neck which was completely fine and she whined.
Chairman Tai smiled and shook his head because he could tell that they were playing. He stood up and said, "I will deal with it. Ho Sun, come here."
Obediently, Tai Ho Sun walked over and his ear was lightly pinched. "Stop bothering your sister." he warned.
Ho Sun glared at her and Alix stuck her tongue out at him childishly.
Auntie Mo hissed at Ho Sun. "I saw that. Don’t even glare at my precious daughter."
Alix couldn’t help laughing so hard that she almost fell over. Ho Sun was right, this was a great rite of passage for all siblings.
Nanny Wang and nanny Luo were curiously peeping to see what the environment was like at the table. Nanny Luo was especially worried because Alix was calling these people mom and dad.
First the brothers and now parents. She had no idea what needed unpacking first. However, when she saw the glow on Alix’s face, satisfaction filled her heart.
She wondered if Alix’s biological mother was looking down and seeing all this. She would be happy to see that her daughter had got a happy ending after all.
