Chapter 380: Chapter 473: Trade Secrets

Gao Yuan didn’t know what to say anymore, because Nate had told him too much, too big, too scary.

What, could humanity really develop into a full-blown nuclear war in the apocalypse?

And the most crucial point is, nuclear weapons are in the hands of the major powers, you at least don’t have to worry that these nations will throw a fit and start lobbing nukes, but when these secret organizations and mercenaries have control of nuclear bombs, who the hell knows when they might just decide to use them.

But then again, considering the current situation, it seems whether the nukes are used or not doesn’t really matter much; it’s already the apocalypse, so adding a nuclear wasteland mode wouldn’t be out of place, right?

Gao Yuan couldn’t help but pick up his teacup and drank the water inside clean, and after he set the cup down, Nate’s adjutant immediately refilled it with fresh tea.

"So, where is Ram now?"

Gao Yuan cautiously asked his new question, and Nate, after a moment of silence, finally shook his head.

"I don’t know, I have no idea where he currently is, because the situation is very complicated. Ram is Sanitation Worker’s primary target, so he could be anywhere now, in Soolima, or Southern Sudan, or even North Sudan, or perhaps Ethiopia."

Gao Yuan felt somewhat disappointed because the range Nate had given was too broad, making it very hard to find Ram.

Nate picked up his teacup and sipped, a look of great enjoyment on his face, then he slowly said, "But I know where Ram’s headquarters is."

Gao Yuan almost cursed out loud.

What was wrong with Nate’s brain? Gao Yuan had asked where Ram could be, which equated to his headquarters. Could it be that Ram wasn’t staying on his own turf and was randomly running around?

"Isn’t that the same thing? That’s exactly what I was asking."

Nate glanced at Gao Yuan, then shook his finger, saying, "No, it’s not the same, of course it’s not the same. Ram could be anywhere, he might even be on his way here to reinforce me. You were asking where Ram is, not where his base is."

Gao Yuan exhaled and said, "My mistake, then please tell me where Ram’s headquarters are."

"Well, he has three bases, one in Soolima, one in Yemen, and one in Southern Sudan."

Nate leisurely set down his cup, signaling his adjutant to refill it again, then he looked at Gao Yuan with interest and said, "Ever since Ram and Poseidon... um, ever since the two of them..."

Nate spread his hands as if he couldn’t think of an appropriate adjective, finally nodding and saying, "Ever since they teamed up, Ram has changed a lot. He began to take precautions against Sanitation Worker and warned me that something might happen that would change the world, advising me to consolidate forces and secure key areas. I followed his advice and gave up a lot of territory; otherwise, I would have occupied at least half of Biliya by now. But that bastard didn’t tell me the timing, he didn’t provide a key timetable!"

Seemingly with some resentment, Nate took a breath and said, "Unfortunately, years passed after his warning before the Aliens came. It’s a pity I couldn’t meet my goal, but there was also a benefit. Umm, Poseidon sent me a lot of vaccines, said to be produced in Shenzhou, so my losses were minimal in the face of the virus."

Nate had veered off-topic, and Gao Yuan didn’t want to stray too far, so he didn’t ask what Nate’s goals were. He was curious, but now was not the time.

Shaking his head, Nate continued, "Ram consolidated his forces and withdrew several units that were fighting in Yemen to Soolima. Over four years, he established a huge base in Southern Sudan and stored a substantial amount of supplies. This guy has the support of the world’s largest arms dealer."

Nate stopped, lifted his teacup, and took a sip. Then, he set the teacup down and dropped four more sugar cubes into it before continuing, "So, Ram is pretty capable. He has plenty of resources and manpower. I think he might be able to resist the Sanitation Worker’s pressure. If that’s the case, then he should still be alive and continuing to fight. I know that bastard; he doesn’t die easily. Many times, I thought he was a goner, but he still managed to survive."

Gao Yuan felt that when Nate spoke about Ram not dying easily, he seemed both relieved and yet, somewhat regretful.

"What a pity. If he were dead, I wouldn’t have to pay back the war loan."

After expressing slight regret, Nate turned to his adjutant and said something, then he looked at Gao Yuan again, "So, what’s your relationship with Ram? You’re his... uh, I’ve never heard him mention you. So, do you have any relation?"

"Ram? We have no relation. I don’t know him. I’ve often heard about him, but I’ve never known him before."

Nate nodded, and at that moment, his adjutant brought over a map. The map wasn’t large and easily unfolded on an empty space on the table.

Nate glanced at the map, then pointed to a location, saying, "His base is here. If you want to find him, go here. If he’s dead, or if the base has been captured by the Sanitation Worker, then your next destination should be here."

The first location Nate pointed out was at the border of Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. The second place he indicated was a city in Soolima called Bosaso.

Gao Yuan nodded and then said softly, "So you mean you’re also not sure about Ram’s current situation, right?"

"Yes, I don’t know. We’ve lost contact. We used to be in touch, but for some reason, contact was lost. I still have several shortwave radios here. I have all kinds of radios, and Ram should have some too, but we’ve been unable to contact each other for about a month now." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Gao Yuan nodded and asked, "So how many men does Ram have that makes you think he can withstand the Sanitation Worker’s assault?"

"About five thousand or so. The exact number is his core commercial secret. I’m not quite sure, but I estimate it’s over five thousand. He made a hefty sum from the war a few years ago. He has the capacity to recruit manpower."

"Commercial secrets?"

Nate chuckled and replied, "For mercenaries, it’s naturally commercial secrets rather than military secrets. Or rather, for mercenaries, military secrets are commercial secrets. It’s all the same."

Gao Yuan was still pondering what to ask next when Nate suddenly turned serious and said, "Now it’s my turn to ask you, and I hope you’ll answer my questions truthfully."

"Alright, go ahead."

"What exactly are you here for? Don’t say ’to save the world,’ be more specific!"

Without any hesitation, Gao Yuan replied, "To find the Ark of the Covenant, then we’ll have a way to save the world."

Nate pressed on, "Be more specific."

"I can’t say any more specifics, but..."

After hesitating for a moment, Gao Yuan finally said, "But I can tell you about the Aliens’ secrets. It hasn’t happened here yet, but we’re already very familiar with them... military secrets. I think you’ll eventually face the same situation. Would you like to hear about it?"
