Chapter 154 - Wanda and Company's Adventure P2

Wanda and Company's Adventure P2

...

I think I've just created a good, chaotic team. But I feel like someone else is missing. Or maybe they'll be enough?

........

"So, what's the plan?" Tonks asked, hiding in the bushes alongside Wanda and Rolf.

"It's pretty simple," Wanda answered confidently... before standing up and sprinting straight toward the small house in front of them.

The other two stared at her, dumbfounded, before snapping out of it and rushing after her. Just in time to see Wanda deliver a powerful kick to the door, sending it crashing down with a loud bang.

"This is the police! You're under arrest!" Wanda shouted with an excited grin.

"What!?" the man inside the house exclaimed, completely baffled. The moment he saw the intruders charging at him, he grabbed his wand and jumped out the window in a desperate escape attempt.

He didn't get far. Wanda caught him midair with her magic, making him float like a rotisserie chicken on a spit.

"Dammit, let me go, you crazy witch!" the man snarled, struggling in vain.

"Pff, what a disappointment. That was too easy," Tonks said as she stepped inside... only to trip clumsily over the fallen door and faceplant onto the floor.

There was a brief silence.

"Hey, you okay?" Rolf asked, barely holding back laughter.

"Yes, perfectly fine!" Tonks responded, standing up as if nothing had happened, completely ignoring the amused looks from her companions.

"Alright, criminal, where are the Nifflers?" Wanda asked, stepping closer with a fierce expression.

"I don't know what you're talking about! You've got the wrong guy!" the man protested, sweating as he struggled.

"Really? Again with this?" Wanda huffed, ready to drop him out of sheer annoyance.

"Obviously, he's lying," Rolf said, pointing to a corner of the room.

There, next to a pile of stolen wallets, was a cage with a small Niffler staring at them with bright, innocent eyes.

"You bastard!" Wanda shot the thief a murderous glare before landing a solid punch to his face, knocking him out cold.

"Well... that makes it harder to get information out of him," Tonks commented, looking at the unconscious man before rummaging through the stolen goods. Suddenly, she pulled something out with a wide grin. "Here it is!" she exclaimed, hugging her wallet like it was the greatest treasure.

"Don't tell Instructor Stephen I lost it again..." she added in a nervous whisper.

"Again?" Rolf asked, but quickly lost interest as he checked the cage.

"He looks fine. He's young, so the guy probably caught him recently," he said while examining the Niffler.

"He's adorable!" Wanda gushed, pulling the creature from the cage and hugging him tightly. Instantly, the little Niffler snuggled against her, completely content.

"Great! We have a new team member!" Wanda announced, smiling as she played with the Niffler.

"Whatever. But what do we do with him?" Rolf asked, nodding toward the unconscious thief on the floor.

"Oh, I have something to wake him up," Tonks said excitedly, pulling a suspicious-looking ball from her pocket.

Wanda and Rolf immediately took a step back.

"What the hell is that? It stinks!" Wanda grimaced in disgust.

"A stink bomb," Tonks replied as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Before anyone could stop her, she shoved the ball into the man's mouth. Within seconds, strange smoke began to seep from his lips, and an unbearable stench filled the room.

The thief jolted awake, thrashing as if he'd been dunked in dragon dung... only to pass out again, this time even deeper.

A long silence followed.

"I don't think that worked," Wanda said, deadpan.

"By Merlin..." Rolf rubbed his temples. "Do we still have time to call Stephen?"

"We never have time to call the instructor!" Tonks exclaimed in a panic.

"Are you an idiot?" Wanda snapped, exasperated.

"Ugh, you two are exhausting," Rolf groaned, giving up.

"Bah, let's just check his memories. If no one finds out, it's not illegal," Wanda suggested, stepping toward the thief while pinching her nose shut.

"I have to remind you that it is illegal, and I am an Auror," Tonks pointed out indignantly.

Wanda looked at her for a second... then, without a word, used her magic to snatch Tonks' wallet and toss it out the window.

"Hey!" Tonks protested, immediately running to retrieve it.

Meanwhile, Wanda placed a hand on the man's head, closed her eyes, and smirked mischievously.

By the time Tonks returned, Wanda was already finished.

"Alright, let's go to Knockturn Alley," Wanda said nonchalantly.

And so, with the Niffler in her arms and an unconscious thief left behind, the three of them walked away as if nothing had happened.

........

After dropping off the criminal at an Auror station, Wanda, Tonks, and Rolf quickly walked away before anyone could ask too many questions. Although it would have made sense for Tonks to return to her job, she had other plans.

"Don't look at me like that, Rolf. I'd rather help catch Niffler smugglers than fill out paperwork," she said with a carefree smile as she kept walking with the others.

That was how the three of them arrived at Knockturn Alley, a place where darkness seemed to seep through even in broad daylight. Before entering, Tonks made them cover themselves with long black cloaks.

"It's not that I doubt your ability to defend yourselves, but you two stand out too much," she said, crossing her arms. "Especially you, Wanda. You're like a flame surrounded by moths here... and I don't want those moths to end up burned."

"I make no promises if they try to touch me," Wanda replied with a dangerous smile.

After walking for several minutes through twisted streets and gloomy passageways, they reached an even more desolate area. Ruined houses, some burned down, and an air of decay floated in the atmosphere. Vagrants and shadowy figures watched them hungrily from the darkness.

"It's incredible that we're so close to Diagon Alley," Rolf murmured, observing the stark contrast between the two places.

Suddenly, Wanda stopped in front of a rundown house. She frowned, looking at it with a mix of curiosity and distrust.

"What's wrong?" Tonks asked quickly.

"This is the place... but the magic I sense inside feels familiar. I don't remember whose it is, but I know it," Wanda replied with a slight hint of unease.

"Why complicate things? We go in first and ask questions later," Tonks suggested in her usual practical manner.

"There are some magical defenses. Give me a second," Wanda said, extending both hands as a red aura emanated from her body.

Tonks and Rolf watched as an invisible shield around the house began to crack until it shattered in seconds, as if made of glass.

"Done," Wanda said before stepping toward the door. As was her habit, she kicked it with the full intention of knocking it down.

The wood groaned, and the door crashed to the floor. At that very moment, a spell shot out from inside.

Wanda moved just a few inches to dodge it elegantly, while Tonks rolled on the ground and drew her wand.

"Bloody hell! Give a warning before kicking down doors!" Rolf complained, running for cover with his hands over his head.

From inside the house, several magical projectiles came flying toward them. Wanda deflected them with a simple wave of her hand, as if they were paper balls thrown by a child.

"Stupe...!" the attacker tried to cast a spell.

But before he could finish, Wanda aimed at the room's furniture with both hands and sent them flying toward him. A wardrobe and a table struck the man from both sides, knocking him out instantly.

"I'm starting to feel like we're unnecessary in these missions," Tonks said, looking at her unused wand with resignation.

"Well, she is the instructor's sister. Makes sense..." she muttered to herself, trying to convince herself.

Meanwhile, Jefe"the Niffler, who had been hiding inside Wanda's cloak"poked his head out and stared at the unconscious man. Then, he jumped to the floor and ran toward him at full speed.

"Looks like we got the right guy. Jefe has found something," Wanda said with a satisfied smile.

Rolf leaned in to observe with interest.

"No... he's just stealing the coins from his pocket," he clarified.

"Hahaha," Tonks burst into laughter, unable to hold it in.

"Tsk. He's just claiming his victory trophy," Wanda said, shrugging as she approached the unconscious man.

As she leaned in to get a look at his face, she frowned.

"Hey... he looks familiar."

"Yeah, but I don't know from where," Tonks said, staring at him.

Rolf pulled out his magic phone, took a picture, and sent it immediately.

"Who are you asking?" Wanda asked curiously. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"Stephen," Rolf replied calmly.

"WHAT?! You idiot, I told you not to contact him!" Tonks exclaimed in panic.

"We don't need that idiot. We can just read his mind and""

Ding!

The sound of Rolf's phone interrupted them.

"He already replied. And, by the way, he says to stop doing illegal things."

"Pff, so dramatic," Wanda muttered with a pout.

Rolf read aloud:

"Idiots. That's former Professor Lupin. Friend of Harry's parents and Sirius. If I'm not mistaken, he's monitoring Knockturn Alley under Dumbledore's orders."

Silence fell over them.

"Shit... we caught an innocent person again," Wanda sighed.

"Can we pretend we just found him passed out on the floor?" Tonks asked quickly.

"I don't think that'll work," Rolf replied, shaking his head.

Meanwhile, Jefe kept raiding Lupin's pockets at full speed, stuffing anything shiny into his pouch.

"What if we just leave and let him think it was a robbery?" Wanda suggested innocently.

"Stop doing illegal things!" Rolf scolded.

"Ugh... we'd better wait for him to wake up and apologize. He seems to know something about wizards and Nifflers, so maybe he'll even help us," Tonks said, reluctantly accepting her role as the voice of reason.

The three of them sighed in resignation as Jefe continued his work on Lupin's pockets.
