Re-Overlord: I Can Acquire Anything!-Chapter 98: Sun God Helios
Chapter 98: Sun God Helios
From the rift between realms, a solitary figure descended, her form illuminated by an eerie, shifting glow.
Angelic wings, vast and silver-edged, arched behind her with an ethereal grace. Yet above her forehead, two twisted demonic horns curled skyward, marking her as something far removed from purity.
Her beauty was mesmerizing, almost divine, yet her expression was cold, utterly devoid of warmth or mercy. Eyes like frozen galaxies scanned the void, landing on the host of radiant angels charging toward the fractured seal of the Realm Gate.
They wanted to break the Seal completely.
But she couldn’t let that happen.
So, she raised her hand.
From her palm burst dark chains, thick and writhing, each one inscribed with forbidden power that shimmered with crimson light. The very space around them trembled as if rejecting their presence.
Even the void pulsed. Reality flinched.
The angels stopped mid-flight, their weapons trembling.
A primal fear gripped them—instinctive, ancient, undeniable.
One whispered in dread, "Isn’t she...?"
Another finished with horror in his voice, "Yes. The Fallen One!"
Panic overtook command.
"Attack her! Now!"
"Kill her before it’s too late!"
Evernight only smiled. It was not a smile of kindness, but of cruel delight.
A low, sultry laugh escaped her lips.
"Fufufu... You’re all far too young to play at this level."
Her eyes shimmered as her grin twisted into something wicked and inhuman.
"Let me show you the true power of Calypso."
Swoosh!
With a sweeping motion, the dark chains coiled and then lashed outward in a devastating arc.
Buzz, buzz, crack!
The darkness screamed. Space cracked.
The Chains of Annihilation tore through the front lines of the angelic host like paper, dragging light-born beings into the endless abyss beyond the veil.
Slowly but surely, Evernight decimated the invading angels. One after another, they fell before her, their radiant forms torn apart by her overwhelming might. In mere minutes, the battlefield grew quiet. Nothing remained but silence and ash.
In her palm, a crimson pearl pulsed with ominous light.
As the fallen angels disintegrated, their glowing remains flowed into the red gem. It drank their essence greedily, growing brighter with each soul it consumed.
Evernight’s eyes shifted to the ancient mechs and the fractured Seal. She moved without pause, her form slicing through the void with graceful speed. As she advanced, more blood pearls began to appear, swirling around her like silent sentinels. Each one shimmered with a dark potency, drawn from the slain Light-born.
These beings had once shared her half bloodline.
Now, they were nothing but fuel.
She gave no thought to mercy. Only her father’s goal mattered. Everything else was meaningless.
Without a word, she raised her hand.
The crimson pearls shot forward with precision, embedding themselves in the weakened joints of the colossal mechs and the cracked edges of the celestial Seal.
"BUZZZZ!"
Upon contact, the metal began to mend. Runes flared back to life. Broken limbs and fractured plates reshaped themselves, whole and new again.
The healing was unnatural. The pearls restored ancient machinery with power that should not exist. The lifeless became animated once more.
A deep buzz began to fill the air.
The four colossal machines stirred, their ancient cores surging with energy. A low hum resonated through the void as powerful blue shields formed around them. The protective barrier shimmered, sealing off the once-breached gateway with renewed strength.
The Seal would now hold.
For another decade, perhaps longer.
Evernight hovered silently, wings spread wide, her long hair billowing in the starlit void. Her expression was cold and unreadable as she gazed down at the battlefield, littered with drifting feathers and scattered light.
Suddenly, a deep rumble echoed through the darkness.
A suffocating pressure filled the void, descending from below like a crushing weight. It was overwhelming, far beyond anything she could handle in her current state.
Her eyes narrowed as she turned to the source.
A figure ascended, radiating divine brilliance that cut through space like a second sun.
She froze.
"The Sun God... Helios?" she whispered, stunned.
Helios. One of the seven Prime Divinities. A being of pure divine magic.
But how? The Seal was intact. No divine being should be able to cross it.
Her brows furrowed. "Is this... an Avatar?"
The glowing figure answered, his voice like a blade cloaked in light.
"You are correct, Child of Vermin. I am merely an Avatar," he said, his golden radiance crackling through the void. "But even as a fragment of my true self, I am more than enough to kill you. A hundred times over."
He stepped closer, eyes gleaming with cruel amusement. "You are but a shadow of your former self. That pitiful revival spell must have drained you nearly to death. How foolish of you."
He looked her over and scoffed. "Do you truly believe you can stand against us? Your father died groveling, Calypso. That so-called Architect of dreams... perished like the vermin he was."
Evernight’s jaw clenched. Her wings twitched.
"You bastard," she growled. "My father was no weakling hiding behind borrowed power. Unlike you, he didn’t pretend to be a god while feeding on the fear and despair of mortals."
"Impudence!" Helios’s voice turned sharp, his aura flaring with rage. "You dare to insult the divine? You sully the prestige of the heavens?"
He pointed at her with scorn.
"I will wipe you from existence."
But Evernight stood firm. Her tone never wavered.
"Then do it. Kill me, you parasite. My task is complete. You won’t break the Seal any time soon."
Helios sneered, his handsome face twisting into something ugly. "So what? You think you’ve won anything? The Seal will fall. Sooner or later. And when it does, not even your father’s ghost will be able to stop what’s coming."
He raised his arm. In his palm, a miniature sun ignited, blazing with divine fury.
"And you, Calypso, will not be there to witness the end."
"Begone."
The sun flew from his hand, tearing across the void in an instant.
Evernight didn’t have time to react.
"BOOOOM!"
The explosion swallowed her in radiant fire.
A blinding light erupted, shaking the realm of Ashvale itself. Ripples of the detonation echoed through the stars, leaving tremors in their wake.
When the light faded, only drifting ash remained.
Helios hovered in silence, watching the empty space where she had been.
He clicked his tongue in disgust. "All those years of struggle... just to delay the inevitable?"
A cruel grin touched his lips.
"You’re so pathetic, Calypso. See you in hell."
