ONLINE: Blades of Eternity-Chapter 306: SYSTEM REFORMED
As the sun dipped beneath the jagged peaks in the distance, painting the sky in hues of crimson and burnt gold, Kaelen and Kelvin trekked steadily away from the Crescent Paw Town, their figures wrapped in heavy cloaks, boots crunching over dried grass and scattered pebbles. Neither of them looked back, though they both knew they wouldn't forget the town anytime soon—not the people, not the battle, and definitely not the judgment in the eyes of those they had just saved.
Once they were a good distance away, with the town reduced to a faint silhouette behind the hills, they came to a stop at the edge of a high ridge. A cool wind brushed past them, carrying the wild scent of the open lands ahead.
Kaelen stretched out his right hand and immediately, the ever-changing map suddenly appeared on it as he began spreading it out over a large flat stone.
Immediately, glowing blue threads unfurled across the parchment like living veins, pulsing and shifting to show the updated terrain. Mountain ranges shifted. Forests swirled. Even weather patterns flickered faintly across the topography.
Kelvin knelt beside him and stared at it intensely. "Alright, based on this... the shortest path back to the Human Territory cuts through the Dreadroot Jungle, skirts the edge of the Elven Dominion, and then passes near the Ravager Steppes—which is ogre territory. Not the best vacation route."
Kaelen ran his gloved finger along the glowing lines. "The long way loops south through the Hybrid marshlands, but we'd avoid both the elven guards and the ogres. It'd take a few more weeks, maybe even months, but it's safer—at least relatively speaking."
Kelvin scoffed. "Safe is a myth in this world. Especially with Endless expanding like a damn plague."
Kaelen gave a solemn nod, eyes still fixed on the map. "Then we'll go with the shorter route. Time's more valuable than distance now."
And then—without warning—a piercing chime echoed inside their minds.
[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION]
Both of them staggered slightly, although Kaelen quickly went back to
normal while Kelvin was still startled by the spontaneous voice as the same monotonous voice rang in perfect sync through their consciousnesses:
[Primary Mission: Save Crescent Paw Town from Damnation — Status: COMPLETED.]
[Calculating rewards…]
"Is that...?"
"Rewards for the mission we completed back in Crescent paw town" Kaelen quickly answered Kelvin with an expectant mind.
And quickly, Kaelen and Kelvin immediately dropped what they were doing, the map curling slightly from the sudden shift in focus. Their hearts pounded as golden motes of light began to swirl around them, invisible to the world, visible only to the soul.
[Reward calculation completed!]
[+5 Levels]
[All Skills and Techniques increased by 10]
[Book Of Heroes Page 20 unlocked!]
And then—
[Artificial Mana Vein – Portable Core Model x1.]
Both of them froze.
"What the hell—?" Kelvin blinked rapidly. "Did I just hear that right?"
Kaelen's hand trembled slightly. "A new page in the book of heroes and.... a mana vein…?"
Suddenly, in front of them, a beam of blue light surged down from thin air, condensing into a small floating object. It was a crystalline sphere, about the size of a melon, glowing with rhythmic pulses like a beating heart. Intricate runes and circuit-like carvings etched across its transparent shell.
Kaelen slowly reached out and held it.
Warm. Alive. Pulsing.
"It's real," he whispered. "A synthetic mana vein. This… this shouldn't even be possible. Only the Celestials and the Origin Engineers should be able to make something like this."
Kelvin examined it with wide eyes. "This thing alone could power an entire academy. Hell, with the right cultivation array, it could restore a mana-dead zone. This is a freaking miracle."
Kaelen's grip tightened around the sphere. "Or a trap."
But the system pinged again:
"Warning: Artificial Mana Vein is calibrated for temporary use only. Lifespan—300 days. Can be used to empower small territories, cultivation realms, or combat zones. After 300 days, core will self-neutralize."
Kelvin whistled low. "Still… three hundred days of portable mana? That could change the tide of battles. Especially if Endless is really trying to dominate all the natural mana veins."
Kaelen tucked the crystal into a secured inner pouch of his coat. "We'll use it when the time comes. Not now."
The wind howled through the open land again, more solemn this time, like the world itself acknowledging what had just transpired.
Kaelen stood up, pulling his cloak tight as he looked down at the glowing map again. "We have our route. We have our mission. And now… we have a secret weapon."
Kelvin smirked and adjusted the strap on his scythe. "Let's see what the world throws at us next."
With that, the two young men resumed their journey, stepping into the sprawling unknown with purpose in their eyes and confidence in their soul.
As the full bright moon gradually began to rise above the horizon, casting a silvery glow upon the forested terrain Kaelen and Kelvin now trudged through, the silence between the two was only broken by the occasional snap of a twig or rustle of wind-swayed foliage. They were deep into the route they had mapped out—northeast of the Crescent Paw town and now skirting the outer edge of the Dreadroot Jungle.
Kaelen had been uncharacteristically quiet for some time now, his brows furrowed, his lips murmuring something repeatedly under his breath.
"Online: Blades of Eternity…" he whispered again.
Nothing.
No voice. No chime. No flickering system window. Nothing.
"System, open menu. Status window. Interface. Inventory. Come on…" he tried again.
Still nothing.
He frowned deeply, blinking at the air in front of him as if he could will something to appear. His hand subconsciously brushed the side of his head where the faint imprint of his soul-synced system used to stir whenever called.
Kelvin, walking a few paces behind with a vine-wrapped branch over his shoulder, finally spoke, noticing Kaelen's repeated motions. "You've been whispering weird crap for a while now," he said with a hint of amusement. "Trying to summon a celestial food or something?"
Kaelen turned toward him, clearly not in the mood for jokes. "No. I've been calling out to my system."
"Your system?" Kelvin raised a brow. "You mean that Online: Blades of Eternity thing you mentioned before?"
Kaelen gave a sharp nod. "Yeah. Normally, it answers. A voice chimes in or a screen opens up when I give a command. But now… nothing. It's like it's either asleep or gone."
Kelvin's teasing expression faded into curiosity. "So, what exactly is your system? Like, is it an ancient long lost magic or more of a soul thing?"
"It's like a hybrid of both," Kaelen explained. "It tracks my skills, levels, growth… and there's a story mode component I have to go through. It's not like yours that feeds you pure stat growth and raw power. Mine's… narrative-based. Progression happens through events. Quests. Milestones."
Kelvin scratched his jaw, thinking. "Hmm. And it always responds when you call it?"
"Always. Until now," Kaelen confirmed.
Kelvin then tilted his head thoughtfully. "What if… the Magic Pandora inside you altered how your system works? I mean, it did the same for mine"
Kaelen blinked.
"…What?"
Kelvin shrugged. "Think about it. Ever since that last battle, we both felt something different. Like… something inside us was restructured. Magic Pandora isn't just a power source—it's like a filter and amplifier. If it's integrated with your system, maybe it's rerouted how you access it."
Kaelen's eyes widened slightly, and his footsteps came to a sudden halt.
'Could that be it?'
He closed his eyes and focused—not on calling the system—but instead, on the Magic Pandora. On the swirling core of unbounded energy he now carried deep within his being. He mentally reached toward it…
And then it happened.
FWOOOOOOM—
A loud hum that only he could hear surged in his mind.
A massive holographic screen suddenly exploded into existence before his eyes, so wide it nearly made him stagger back. It shimmered with radiant lines of indigo and silver, etched with spinning sigils and pulsing data streams.
Kelvin noticed Kaelen's stunned expression and quickly jumped forward. "What?! Did it work?!"
Kaelen didn't respond. His eyes were wide, locked onto the content of the screen floating before him.

Kaelen's mind whirled.
"What in the hell is this?" he muttered aloud.
Kelvin stepped closer, unable to see what Kaelen saw but clearly getting worried. "Kaelen? Talk to me." freёnovelkiss.com
Kaelen finally glanced over. "My system… it didn't vanish. It evolved. Or more like… it merged with the Magic Pandora. Everything's changed. No more leveling up through normal means. It's all tied to story events, emotional weight, and… Pandora resonance."
Kelvin's eyes widened. "Damn. That means you've become a wildcard. Unpredictable."
Kaelen took a deep breath and closed the screen with a thought, watching it disappear into light motes. "Yeah… but that might not be a bad thing."
He looked back toward the horizon, where the mountains loomed and the treacherous path ahead awaited.
Kelvin gave a dry chuckle. "Guess we both stopped being normal the moment we got tangled up with these world-breaking relics because is pretty much the same."
"Really?" Kaelen asked in surprise. "Yeah, mine has to do with latent potential and the sheer power of my will and resolve to avenge my sister" Kelvin replied with a grim look on his face.
Kaelen smiled faintly. "Well, let's just hope they're enough to get us back home."
With renewed determination, the two stepped forward again—no longer just travelers lost in a foreign land, but entities being reshaped by forces far beyond their understanding.
