Chapter 133: Anti-Magic Field

Splat!

With a sickening crunch, Seraphina’s massive, bloodstained jaws clamped down on Malphas’s neck.

Boom!

Another deafening explosion followed as the dragon’s talons fused with the Tier-3 Strategic Artifact—Hellcrusher Maul—unleashing a blinding burst of light. The sheer intensity of the glow was almost unbearable.

At the same time, an earth-shattering force erupted from the impact, tearing into Malphas with devastating power.

Thud!

Malphas’s enormous body was flung apart like a ragdoll caught in an explosion, his limbs and torso ripping apart in a series of violent detonations. His agonized screams echoed through the battlefield, raw and unrelenting.

Every second was a nightmare.

Every second was pure torment.

And finally, it seemed like he couldn’t take it anymore...

"Damn you, wretched lizard! Next time, I swear I’ll kill you! Just you wait!" Malphas, the Infernal Lord, roared in fury.

Then—without hesitation—he killed himself.

Boom!

Flames erupted as his soul vanished into the sky, retreating to the Inferno faction’s resurrection point within their fortress.

Seraphina blinked in surprise for a split second, but she didn’t waste any time. She immediately turned her gaze toward the Legendary 13-Tier Inferno Devil, who had been gravely wounded earlier and was now attempting to teleport away.

Bang!

The dragon launched into the sky, her razor-sharp claws slicing through the air.

BOOM!

The impact was cataclysmic. The Inferno Devil barely had time to react before Seraphina’s attack ripped him apart like an overinflated balloon bursting under pressure.

Instant kill.

Without Malphas’s buffs enhancing his attack and defense, the Inferno Devil was only marginally stronger than a standard 12-Tier unit.

And for Seraphina, who was now fully unleashed?

It was nothing more than a single swipe. Effortless. Brutal. Over in an instant.

"ROAR!"

With the Inferno Devil slain, Seraphina let out another thunderous roar and charged toward the remaining 11-Tier Efreet and 12-Tier Efreet Sultan in the distance.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The ground shook violently for miles, the sheer force of her movements sending tremors across the battlefield.

Emily, who had just finished slaughtering the 7-Tier One-Horned Demons and 8-Tier Two-Horned Demon Kings, had been rushing over to assist—only to freeze in place, her entire body tensing in shock.

She stared at the monstrous figure rampaging in the distance, her breath catching in her throat.

"H-holy shit..."

Her voice trembled as she sucked in a sharp breath.

"What the hell is that thing?! A dragon? Wait... is that Seraphina?! No way... That’s insane!"

Her eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

Even though she had gotten somewhat familiar with Seraphina over time and their relationship wasn’t bad, she wasn’t Ethan—she had never witnessed the full power of a Crimson Ultimate Hero before.

But now?

Now she had.

And it was terrifying.

Who the hell could even fight something like that?!

This wasn’t just strong.

This was monstrous...

It didn’t take long.

As the last 12-Tier Efreet Sultan vanished before Seraphina’s eyes, she finally clocked out for the day.

"ROAR!"

With an exhilarated bellow, Seraphina twisted her massive body midair. In an instant, her colossal form began to shrink at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Within moments, she had transformed into her juvenile form, now no bigger than a husky. Without hesitation, she darted toward Ethan.

BAM!

She crashed straight into his chest, wriggling and chirping, rubbing against him like an overgrown puppy—demanding praise.

"That was incredible!"

Ethan laughed, wrapping his arms around her. "I knew it—my Seraphina is the strongest! You really worked hard this time."

"Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!"

Hearing Ethan’s praise, Seraphina instantly perked up, her excitement practically radiating off her. It was obvious—she was thrilled.

At that moment, Emily approached, riding her 11-Tier Unicorn. Her expression was completely blank, her eyes wide with shock.

"Ethan... that was Seraphina just now? That was her?!"

She still couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed.

"She was massive—easily tens of thousands of feet tall! I swear, when she swiped her claws, an entire mountain almost collapsed! That was just... just..."

She struggled to find the words.

"Seraphina is a Crimson Ultimate Hero," Ethan said with a chuckle. "And the power of a Crimson Ultimate is... well, terrifying."

Then, his expression turned serious. "Go destroy that Hell Gate."

"Hell Gate?"

Emily blinked, then turned her gaze toward the partially formed Hell Gate deep within the canyon.

The sight made her stomach churn.

The landscape was littered with countless bones, and pits of boiling blood bubbled ominously.

Her face twisted in discomfort. "This... what is this?"

"It’s a portal," Ethan explained. "A gateway for the Inferno faction to invade the main world. Once they come through, Inferno Heroes and their troops can fight at full strength. Otherwise, the laws of this world suppress them, making them weaker."

He paused for a moment, his eyes gleaming thoughtfully. "Honestly, we got lucky this time. If that had been a Level 70 Orange Legendary Hero, Seraphina wouldn’t have stood a chance. Right?"

He turned to Seraphina.

"Chirp..."

Seraphina let out a small, reluctant noise. She clearly didn’t like admitting it, but she didn’t argue—because Ethan was right.

A Level 70 Orange Legendary Hero would have already undergone a second awakening, making them absurdly powerful. At her current strength, she wouldn’t have been able to take them head-on.

But once she hit Level 50?

That would be a different story.

After all, the gap between Crimson Ultimate and Orange Legendary was massive.

"Alright, I’m on it."

Emily had finally shaken off her initial shock. She nodded at Ethan, then spurred her unicorn forward, charging toward the Hell Gate.

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion echoed through the canyon as the Hell Gate collapsed, crumbling into ruin.

At the same time, a system notification chimed in Ethan’s ears......

"Ding!"

"Congratulations, player Valkarion! You have completed the A+ quest: Shadow of the Demons! You successfully thwarted the Inferno faction’s scheme and have earned the following rewards:"

Light Alliance Reputation +50,000

Gold: 5,000,000

Six Major Resources: +80 each

Orange Tome: The Iron Factory of Despair

Tier 3 Magic Blueprint: Anti-Magic Field

Ethan glanced at the notification and muttered, "Just an A+ quest, huh? Figures."

Under normal circumstances, defeating a Level 70 Orange Legendary Hero should have been at least an S-rank quest—maybe even S+.

But because of the Main World’s suppression laws, neither Malphas, nor the 13-Tier Inferno Devil, nor the 12-Tier Efreet Sultan or 11-Tier Efreet had been fighting at full strength.

Honestly? They had been weaker than expected.

So an A+ difficulty rating actually made sense.

Ethan’s gaze shifted to one of the rewards. "An Orange Tome? The Iron Factory of Despair? What the hell is this?"

A glowing orange book materialized in his hands, but the text on its cover was... bizarre. The script was twisted and unnatural, completely unreadable.

"Seraphina, can you read this?" Ethan asked, turning to her.

Seraphina glanced at the book, squinting at the strange symbols. After a moment, she shook her head. "Master, I can’t read this either."

"Guess we’ll have to ask Cicero when we get back." Ethan sighed, tucking the book away. No point in stressing over it now.

His attention then shifted to another reward—

Tier 3 Magic Blueprint: Anti-Magic Field

(A magical blueprint containing the Tier 3 spell: Anti-Magic Field. Creates a 30-foot diameter field that nullifies all spells below Tier 5. Duration: 3 minutes. Uses: 0/3.)

"Damn... now this is a good one." Ethan’s eyes widened in surprise.

Simply put, this was a mage killer.

It could be used both offensively and defensively.

And for pure mage classes? This was a nightmare.

Because let’s be real—mages were glass cannons.

Sure, they weren’t so fragile that a light breeze could knock them over, but if a melee fighter of a similar Tier got close? They were done for.

In fact, in normal circumstances, an 8-Tier pure mage hero could lose in melee combat to a 6-Tier melee hero.

The lower the Tier, the bigger the gap.

But at higher Tiers, the difference narrowed.

And once a hero reached Crimson Ultimate rank?

That gap disappeared entirely.

Because Crimson Ultimate Heroes didn’t have stupid, glaring weaknesses like that.

A Crimson Ultimate mage wasn’t just capable of melee combat—they could be damn good at it.

A perfect example of this was Cicero.

He wasn’t a pure mage, but his build leaned heavily in that direction.

And was his melee combat weak?

Hell no.

Even Seraphina would get her ass handed to her in a fight against him.

So, strong or weak? You tell me.

But, of course, this was a Crimson Ultimate Hero privilege.

For anyone below Crimson Ultimate, the gap between pure mages and melee fighters in close combat was massive—and the lower the Tier, the worse it got.

However, if a pure mage could maintain enough distance and had time to cast their spells?

Then, no joke—even four melee warriors of the same Tier wouldn’t be enough to take down a god-tier mage.

When it came to raw damage output, god-tier mages feared no one.

But now?

With Anti-Magic Field in play?

The entire balance flipped.

A god-tier mage would be screaming for mercy in seconds.

This thing was basically a game-changer.

Because without magic, a pure mage was just a regular person with slightly more HP.

And at that point?

You could beat them down however you wanted.

Just then, Emily came flying back on her unicorn, her voice excited.

"Bro! I finished my quest!"

"What’s your reward?" Ethan asked casually.

"500,000 gold, 20 of each major resource, a choice between 9 designated 9-Tier units or 3 random 10-Tier units, and 10,000 Light Alliance reputation."

She took a breath, then added, "Oh, and my personal hero advancement quest is complete too."

"The system says I can complete my hero advancement at any Hall of Radiance."

"Hall of Radiance?"

Ethan’s expression froze for a moment, his brows furrowing slightly.

Emily immediately noticed his reaction. Her excitement dimmed, replaced by a hint of caution.

"Bro... is something wrong? Is there something off about the Hall of Radiance?" she asked hesitantly.

Ethan rubbed his chin, debating for a second, then decided to fill her in on what had happened between Grand Duke Theodore and Marquis Lucan.

"W-what?!"

Emily’s eyes widened in shock.

"That... that actually happened?!"

She looked completely stunned, struggling to process it.

Her entire worldview had just been shaken.

Sure, she was strong now—at least among players.

But compared to the massive native factions in Glory Lords X, she was nothing.

The Unicorn Duchy was a colossal force in this world.

If they wanted to, they could wipe out the entire player base dozens of times over without breaking a sweat.

And yet...

Ethan had just told her that the Unicorn Duchy—this powerful, terrifying faction—was nothing more than a puppet under the Castle faction’s control?

That was insane.

Unbelievable.
