Chapter 210: A MAN OF HIS WORD

"KIM HEEDO, you bastard."

Aigoo.

Kim Heedo was on his way to the convenience store where Shin Kang was supposed to pick him up.

His bodyguard-slash-driver couldn’t fetch him straight from the company because he didn’t want his co-workers to find out that he was a young master. Actually, he wanted to just commute to and from work.

But my parents forbid me from doing so.

Heedo understood that his parents were worried about him since he had almost died.

Plus, I messed with Song Sihyuk. So, we’re being extra careful. Even though SG Group is quiet at the moment, the possibility that they might retaliate is always there.

Hence, the current arrangement.

But Heedo was suddenly cornered by his former workers in the alleyway near the convenience store.

It was pretty dark there since the lampposts weren’t working.

This is the first time I was cornered like this, so it’s kinda interesting.

"What do you want?" Heedoo asked, tired. "Make it quick."

I can’t believe I’m making Sohee Hyung wait at home because of these people.

The (former) co-workers who cornered him were all Betas. But he didn’t need to get a whiff of their scent to know that these people were angry.

He knew why.

And that’s ridiculous.

"Look at this kid— he looks unapologetic!"

Heedo raised an eyebrow. "And why do I need to be apologetic?"

"We lost our jobs because of you!"

"You wouldn’t have lost your jobs if you didn’t act like high school bullies," Heedo said, scoffing. "To be fair, I wouldn’t have made a big deal out of it had you not messed with my lunchbox. But you crossed the line."

He couldn’t forgive these people for wasting the food that Park Sohee prepared for him lovingly.

Haaah.

I’m getting mad thinking about it again.

These people were lucky that they were Betas.

If they were Alphas, they would have been knocked down by my pheromones already.

But, to be fair, Heedo could use his pheromones to attack these Betas if he put his mind into it.

However, he promised Park Sohee that he would behave from now on.

"We really have to teach this kid a lesson."

Heedo raised an eyebrow when he realized that these idiots were

It’s okay to fight as a self-defense, right?

But to call it ’self-defense...’

I have to let them hit me first.

"YOUNG MASTER, I’m handing my resignation letter after this."

Aigoo.

"Ahjussi, don’t be too dramatic," Kim Heedo said lightheartedly. "It’s not like their punches were heavy— so, I’m fine."

Shin Kang arrived and broke up the fight.

Well, actually, it wasn’t a fight since Heedo just let his co-workers beat him up.

Shin Kang almost killed the Betas, though.

So, Heedo called the police before that happened.

And, now, we’re in the police station.

"I’m not fine, Young Master," Shin Kang said, sighing. "I didn’t have the heart to call the Young Madam about what happened to you, so I asked the officers to contact him instead."

Pfft.

It was cute how their family’s people had started calling Park Sohee ’Young Madam.’

It’s proof that everyone has accepted Sohee Hyung as my husband.

"Ahjussi, Sohee Hyung is pregnant," Heedo said worriedly. "Maybe we should have just called my parents instead of Hyung. Our family lawyer is on the way anyway."

"Young Master, the Young Madam is your husband— he’s now your immediate family," Shin Kang said. "The Young Madam would have gotten more upset had he found out that we called him last when he should be your immediate contact."

Ahjussi is really wise.

Well, Heedo also knew that they did the right thing.

I’m just worried because Sohee Hyung can’t be too stressed out.

"Heedo-ya!"

Oh.

Heedo immediately stood up and ran towards the door when he saw Park Sohee enter the police station while running. "Hyung, I’ll come to you— please stop running!"

***

"OPPA, don’t run!"

"Hyung, be careful!"

Sohee heard Hong Sera and Cho Euntak, but he couldn’t stop running.

But he wasn’t running at full-speed, and he was holding his baby bump. He was trying to be as careful as possible. Yet he couldn’t stop himself from running.

Heedo-ya...

As soon as he entered the police station, he immediately saw Kim Heedo.

Even when sitting down, his husband still stood out.

"Heedo-ya!"

Kim Heedo immediately stood up and ran towards Sohee. "Hyung, I’ll come to you— please stop running!"

Right.

Sohee slowed down, and by the time that he did, Heedo was already in front of him— gently holding him by the shoulders, checking on him from head to toe.

"Hyung, are you alright?"

"I’m alright. Both me and our babies," Sohee assured his husband, and then he frowned. "But you don’t look okay..."

Kim Heedo’s face was a bit messed up.

Busted lips, swollen cheeks.

Plus, his husband’s clothes were dirty when he was one of the tidiest people he knew.

So, it means...

Sohee immediately put his hands on his husband’s torso.

As expected, Kim Heedo flinched as if he were in pain.

Haaah.

"Hyung, calm down. Don’t get stressed out," Kim Heedo said, obviously in a panic. "I’m really fine."

"You’re not," Sohee said, frustrated. And then his gaze went past Kim Heedo. "Where are the bastards who did this to you..."

He wasn’t able to finish what he was saying because he had already seen the people he was looking for.

Three male Betas were sitting in the corner of the station.

And, oh...

They look a lot worse than Heedo...

"Kim Heedo, did you do that?" Hong Sera asked, pretty shocked. "I think you overdid it a little..."

"It wasn’t me," Kim Heedo denied while shaking his head. "It was Ahjussi. He beat them up to save me."

Sohee, Hong Sera, and Cho Euntak all turned to Shin Kang.

Shin Kang then avoided their gaze as if he were embarrassed.

Aigoo.

Mr. Shin is also an Alpha, so he probably couldn’t control his strength after seeing his young master getting beaten up.

Haaah.

"When will the lawyer get here?" Sohee asked, sighing. "I want all of this to be done and over with so we can go to the hospital."

***

IT WAS a long night for Sohee.

After dealing with the case in the police station, he brought Kim Heedo to the hospital.

Fortunately, his husband only got light injuries. The worst that he got was busted lips. Other than that, his bruises would heal naturally.

We’re finally home.

He wanted to take a shower and rest, but...

"Heedo-ya, let’s talk."

"Yes, Hyung."

Sohee sat on the couch, expecting Kim Heedo to sit next to her.

But his husband actually knelt in front of him.

Aigoo.

"Why did you settle instead of suing those bastards for beating you up?"

"They already lost their job because of me, and they look like they were sincere when they apologized. That’s enough for me, Hyung."

To be fair, the three Betas looked scared when the lawyers representing the Ilsung Group arrived.

They realized that they messed with the wrong person.

"It wasn’t your fault that they got fired," Sohee said. He had already heard the full story from Kim Heedo while they were on their way home earlier. "You did well on reporting those bullies to your boss. If their job is that important to them, then they shouldn’t have bullied you just because they feel inferior."

"I think they were manipulated by the owner’s son."

"Whatever the case is, none of that was your fault. Understood?"

"Yes, Hyung."

"Now let me ask you something," Sohee said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Why didn’t you fight back?"

"Hyung, an Alpha fighting Betas is similar to a professional boxer fighting high school thugs. I could have killed them."

"Bullshit."

Kim Heedo flinched, and then he sighed. "I promised Hyung that I wouldn’t resort to violence if I didn’t have to, so I didn’t."

"Are you crazy? You should have fought back as self-defense!"

"I dodged most of their attacks, Hyung. Plus, their punches and kicks weren’t even heavy. I made sure they wouldn’t hit me in delicate areas."

"Heedo-ya..."

"I don’t want Hyung to get scared of me, and I don’t want Hyung to think that I can’t control my violent urges as an Alpha," Kim Heedo explained carefully. "That’s why I endured. But that didn’t mean I was being reckless. I dodged well, and I made sure I wouldn’t get hit hard. Otherwise, I would have fought back for real."

Wow.

Sohee couldn’t believe it.

Kim Heedo— a Hyper-Dominant Alpha, a chaebol, the oldest grandson of Ilsung Group’s chairman...

He let himself get beaten up so just he wouldn’t scare me...

"And I didn’t sue because I wanted to be a generous person like Hyung," Kim Heedo continued. "I want to be a better person for you, after all."

Aigoo.

"H-Hyung, why are you crying? Please don’t cry. Everything is my fault!"

Tsk.

Sohee was already crying before he knew it.

Kim Heedo obviously panicked.

His husband sat down next to him and gathered him in his arms while gently rubbing his back as a way to console him.

This stupid kid...

"What’s wrong, Hyung?" Kim Heedo asked worriedly. "Are you in pain? Should we go to the hospital? Or should I ask your doctors to come here?"

Oh, to be loved by a man like Kim Heedo.

Sohee couldn’t deny it anymore.

I still love Heedo, and he’s the one I want to spend my life with forever.

Yes, Kim Heedo made a huge mistake.

His husband almost made him a young widow and a single father.

But he was over it now.

Kim Heedo had already proved how sorry he was, and that he was willing to be a better person for him.

And I know he’ll only get better from here on.

So, Sohee wanted to stop being angry and dwelling on the past now.

I’m ready to move forward with my husband.

"Hyung, tell me what I need to do to make you feel better," Kim Heedo asked desperately. "I’ll do anything and everything for you..."

"Then give me a grand wedding," Sohee said between sobs, lifting his head. "I want to wear an expensive, tailored suit and walk down the aisle."
