Chapter 209: WORKPLACE BULLYING

"HE’S so handsome for a mover..."

What a backhanded compliment.

Kim Heedo ignored the clients who were "whispering" behind him.

He was busy stacking the boxes that he needed to carry anyway.

Their clients for today were roommates— a female Beta and a male Omega.

I think they are around Sohee Hyung’s age.

"Should I shoot my shot?"

"Don’t embarrass yourself— that Alpha is already very much taken," the male Omega "whispered" to the female Beta. "You can’t smell it because you’re a Beta. But he’s showered in his lover’s pheromones. Actually, it’s making me sick. I need to breathe some fresh air."

"Hey, wait for me."

Fortunately, the two clients left.

Heh.

Heedo liked what he heard.

No, not about the Beta who seemed to be interested in him.

He didn’t care about that.

I just like how they can smell Sohee Hyung’s pheromones in me.

"You look pleased."

Hmm?

Heedo lifted his head and saw his fellow movers— the ones he hadn’t seen before— sneering at him.

What’s their problem?

"Our clients must have boosted your ego, huh?"

"It must be nice being an Alpha— everything comes easy to you."

Aigoo.

This may have been Heedo’s first time working.

But this wasn’t his first time dealing with jealous Betas.

"Yes, it’s nice being an Alpha," Heedo said bluntly. "But you know what’s nicer? Having self-confidence." He carried three boxes in one go before throwing his fellow workers a cold glance. "You should work on it so you won’t feel inferior towards Alphas, good sirs."

"Yah!"

"How rude!"

"Kids these days are really scary..."

Heedo just bowed his head before turning his back on his colleagues.

Sohee Hyung, see? I didn’t snap. I’m being a good boy~

***

IT WAS a long day for Kim Heedo.

He would never admit this, but having morning sickness as soon as he opened his eyes was starting to take a toll on his body.

It didn’t help that he had a manual job.

Hence, he was always moving and carrying heavy boxes.

I’m not complaining, of course.

Heedo was simply having a deep appreciation for people in that field.

If an Alpha like me is feeling this way, then the Betas and Omegas I work with definitely have it worse than me.

That was why he didn’t even dare to take a break.

"Are you alright, Heedo-ssi?" Jang Yeonwoo, his sunbae and supervisor, asked while handing him a cold bottle of water. "Here."

Heedo accepted the bottled water politely. "Thank you, Sunbae-nim."

After moving things the entire day, they finally had the time to take a rest.

When they returned to the company, Heedo went straight to the smoking area.

Well, he had already stopped smoking. But whenever he felt like doing so, he would look for a smoking area. Weirdly enough, it would stop his urges to smoke.

Yes, yes, I know— second-hand smoking is bad.

Heedo had no intention of dying early, so he’d find a new way to suppress his urge to smoke later.

"You did well today, Heedo-ssi," Jang Yeonwoo said, standing next to Heedo. But, as usual, his sunbae-nim left a decent distance between the two of them. "Today’s work was different from the last one, wasn’t it?"

"Yes, sir," Heedo said, nodding. "I didn’t know we had many movers until today."

"Oh, right. Only the two of us were dispatched on your first day since the job was fairly easy. But we usually have at least five members in a team, like today."

Yep, that was right.

There was other three movers today aside from Heedo and Jang Yeonwoo.

The three were a bit older than him, and were a bit unfriendly.

They practically ignored me and Yeonwoo Sunbae-nim.

Not that he cared.

"Heedo-ssi, I remember you saying that this is your first job," Jang Yeonwoo said. "For your first job, you’re doing well. I don’t think I need to supervise you."

"Thank you, sunbae-nim. I still have a lot to learn, so please take care of me," Heedo said politely. It was true that he still had a lot to learn, after all. "That was my first time seeing a moving ladder truck in person."

Their client for today was a family of three moving into a new place.

The apartment was on the 11th floor of the high-rise building.

Hence, to move the big furniture and appliances like the refrigerator, bed, and cabinet.

The one in charge of the moving ladder truck was Jang Yeonwoo.

"You’re cool, Sunbae-nim."

"I’m cool?" Jang Yeonwoo asked, obviously surprised. "Anyone can do what I did, though. All I have to do is stand next to the furniture to make sure it’s in place as the ladder lifts us."

"Sunbae-nim, as an Alpha, I wouldn’t say that your job is something anyone can do," Heedo said carefully. "To be honest, it’s dangerous. That’s why I thought you were cool."

Jang Yeonwoo blinked, and then he chuckled. "Thank you for saying that, Heedo-ssi. I’m not used to hearing compliments. But I’m happy."

"It wasn’t a compliment, Sunbae-nim. I was just stating a fact."

"Aigoo. Your husband is lucky to have an Alpha like you."

Heedo beamed because he liked talking about Park Sohee. "I’m actually the lucky one, Sunbae-nim. My husband is a very wonderful person."

"I can tell," Jang Yeonwoo said, laughing softly. "You only get that reaction when we’re talking about your husband. And I can also tell that he feels the same way about you. After all, the pheromones lingering on you are quite strong."

Heedo smiled and nodded. "I like my husband’s scent."

"You two must be crazy about each other."

"I know, right?"

Jang Yeonwoo laughed again.

Heedo tilted his head to one side, wondering what was funny.

"Are you having fun?"

Hmm?

It was the son’s owner.

Is it Kwon Jaesuk?

"Jaesuk-ssi, we were just talking while taking a break," Jang Yeonwoo said in a tired voice. "Do you need us for anything?"

"Break is over," Kwon Jaesuk said, shooting Heedo a cold glance. "Go back to work."

Heedo rolled his eyes mentally.

Is that Alpha feeling insecure about me?

***

KIM HEEDO knew that Kwon Jaesuk and his other co-workers didn’t like him.

But he didn’t expect they’d stoop this low.

It’s not like we’re in high school?

Park Sohee prepared another cute and healthy lunchbox for Heedo.

For today, it seemed like his husband made cute pandas for him.

’Seemed’ because, to be honest, he couldn’t recognize the lunch box that his husband prepared for him.

After all, some bastards threw his lunchbox on the floor.

Is this what they call ’workplace bullying?’

Hah.

"You should have just punched me in the face," Heedo said, smirking bitterly— his pheromones leaking out of his body as he clenched his hands tightly. He was trying to hold back, but his vision was starting to turn red. "You crossed the line by wasting the lunch box that my husband lovingly prepared for me, you jealous bastards."

His fellow workers snickered, obviously provoking him.

"Oh, what is our great Alpha gonna do?"

"Watch out— Alphas are known to get violent when angry."

"Are you going to punch us, kid? Do it then."

Haaah.

I really want to go on a rampage and beat up these bastards, but I promised Hyung I won’t resort to violence if I can help it.

He took a deep breath, calming himself down by thinking of Park Sohee’s beautiful face.

Plus, he imagined what their babies would look like.

I hope they look as lovely as Sohee Hyung.

And, just like that, he was calm again.

Heedo pulled out his phone from the pocket of his jeans, and then he called Mr. Choi— the boss who hired him. "Sir, I’d like to report a case of workplace harassment."

***

IT WAS a long and tiring day for Kim Heedo.

After he reported his fellow workers who harassed him, he had a long meeting with Mr. Choi and his bullies.

So tiring.

Fortunately, his colleagues were caught on camera when they threw his lunchbox on the floor.

They didn’t expect that I’d report them, so they didn’t get rid of the evidence.

"Are you happy now?"

Heedo raised an eyebrow when Kwon Jaesuk, the owner’s son, confronted him after he got out of the meeting room. "What do you mean by that?"

Kwon Jaesuk glared at him. "The people you reported were fired."

"And rightfully so."

"They needed this job!"

"Then they shouldn’t have harassed me," Heedo said, scoffing. "You were the one who asked them to bully me, right? How childish."

Kwon Jaesuk flinched, but he didn’t deny it.

"You’re the one who should be responsible for your people," Heedo said, walking past Kwon Jaesuk. "You were the reason those people were fired and not me."

"You’ll regret this, Kim Heedo!"

Whatever.

But maybe Heedo should have been extra careful that night...

***

SOHEE was starting to worry about why Kim Heedo was late.

Heedo should be home by now.

"Oppa, Heedo is late, isn’t he?" Hong Sera asked, looking at Sohee with a worried look on her face. "How dare that brat make you worry?"

Sohee smiled, thankful that Hong Sera and Cho Euntak decided to stay longer.

"Hyung, why don’t you call Heedo Sunbae-nim?" Cho Euntak suggested. "Maybe he’s already on his way home."

"Right, I should call him."

Sohee was just about to call his husband when his phone rang.

It was from an unknown number.

And when he picked up the call...

Sohee let out a gasp. "My husband is in the police station?!"
