Chapter 173: SANHA X LEE JUNSU (1)

SANHA’S mother was what you would call a ’civilian.’

His mother used to be in a girl group— a flop idol group, though. And his mother’s career as an idol didn’t even last a year. The group disbanded just six months after their debut.

After that, his mother tried acting.

Unfortunately, the entertainment agency that his mother signed with was an agency owned by a loan shark trying to transition into being recognized as a legal business.

Yes, that agency was owned by his father.

’Was’ because my father immediately shut down the business after falling in love with his mother.

His mother also gave up her acting career then.

Then my parents had me. Eomma and Appa didn’t get married since Taejoon Hyung’s mother refused to legally divorce our father. Apparently, Taejoon Hyung’s mother wants my mom to be a ’mistress’ forever. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Oh, well.

Sanha liked that it turned out that way.

Since he was a ’half-civilian,’ his father didn’t raise him as a gangster.

In fact, he spent most of his childhood with her mother’s side of the family.

Thanks to her mother’s "normal" family, it was easy for his father to give him a "clean background."

Hence, his parents didn’t oppose when he said he wanted to be an idol.

I was forced to say that I wanted to follow in my mother’s footsteps, or else, Taejoon Hyung would have killed me when I was young.

It was actually his mother’s idea.

Fortunately, he inherited his mother’s talent for singing.

He wasn’t much of a dancer, but it was something that could be learned.

Hence, his mother enrolled him in a dance academy. It was already pretty late when he enrolled at seventeen years old. He stayed there for three years until a small and new entertainment agency recruited him as a trainee.

He was about to leave the dance academy when a new student caught his attention.

Lee Junsu.

The kid was the youngest member of their dance academy at seventeen years old, the same age as he was when he enrolled there.

But the difference was it wasn’t Lee Junsu’s first dance academy.

The kid was a Beta, but he was too pretty for a Beta.

Hence, the Alphas in the dance academy would often bother Lee Junsu.

It only stopped when a Dominant Alpha showed up at the academy one day and threatened everyone who bothered Lee Junsu.

Obviously, that was the kid’s boyfriend.

That day, Sanha left the dance academy and focused on his life as a trainee.

However, his debut was delayed because he didn’t like his potential group mates. So, he did some "pranks" to get rid of them one by one.

Hence, his debut was on hold until the company could find new trainees.

While he wasn’t busy, his father asked him to be his older brother’s assistant since his hyung fired his secretary recently.

That was how Sanha ended up "meeting" Lee Junsu again two years later.

He was already twenty-two years old, so the kid must be nineteen and in the senior year of high school.

His boyfriend is rich, yet he still lives in a shabby neighborhood?

Oh, that was a bit stretch.

They’re still in high school, so maybe their relationship isn’t that serious yet.

And, to be fair, that neighborhood wasn’t that shabby.

The only thing that lowered the value of the area was the building that his brother owned. After all, anyone could tell that it was a building owned by loan sharks.

I hope that Lee Junsu kid doesn’t get entangled with loan sharks.

That was Sanha’s thoughts while watching Lee Junsu walk by while he was sitting on the windowsill of his brother’s shabby office.

It was already late, and yet the kid had just come home.

Does he still attend a dance academy? Or is he a trainee now? I wonder if my hyung’s subordinates could run a background check on him.

"Are you interested in that kid?"

Sanha ignored the female shaman whom his older brother had introduced to him earlier.

"Don’t bother— that kid will die soon."

"What?"

"It would be a pitiful death," Shaman Crystal said while shaking her head. "He’ll be killed soon."

"Killed?" Sanha asked, worried and curious. "By whom?"

"If I tell you more, then you’ll get entangled with that kid’s fate," Shaman Crystal said, smiling slyly at him. "Moreover, that kid is already under Jung’s "radar.""

Jung.

Shaman Jung?

In South Korea, there were only three shamans that Sanha could tell were legit.

Jung.

Mija.

And this ahjumma.

Shaman Crystal is legit, but her god is kind of ditching her these days since she keeps using her divine power to earn money.

"But if you really want to know, then you have to pay."

"Pay what to whom?" Sanha asked, scoffing. "I can just ask someone to run a background check on that kid."

"Oh, you naïve child," Shaman Crystal said while shaking her head. "Do you think information withheld by chaebols could easily be bought?"

"Chaebols? What do you mean by that? Lee Junsu is involved with a chaebol?"

If that were the case, then the kid wouldn’t be living in that neighborhood.

"Sanha-ssi, do you think I’ll give you information for free?"

Aigoo.

Sanha raised an eyebrow. "What do you want in return, ma’am?"

"Those miracle pills that your brother sells for a high price," Shaman Crystal said, smiling. "Give me a few bottles."

"HAVE YOU lost your mind, Jin Taewook?"

Sanha flinched not only because his older brother, Jin Taejoon, scolded him. But also because his hyung called him by his old name.

He was born ’Jin Taewook.’

But when he decided he wanted to be a celebrity, he changed his name to ’Sanha.’ He wanted to use that as his stage name as well.

His mother’s side of the family was used with his new name now.

But not his older brother.

It’s understandable why Hyung still calls me by my real name— I don’t think he knows about my new name since he’s not interested in my life.

"Why would you give that shaman five bottles of miracle pills for free?" Jin Taejoon continued scolding him. "Do you know how much one bottle costs, huh? I can’t believe our father is treating you like you can inherit this business when you can’t even bring in money here."

Sanha wasn’t listening anymore.

He was actually thinking about the information that Shaman Crystal told him earlier.

"I can’t give you the full details yet because I can tell that you don’t believe me fully. So, let’s do this first: you can save that kid if you follow him for the next three days. You can’t let him out of your sight if you want to save him."

"Jin Taewook, are you listening?"

"I’m sorry, Hyung-nim," Sanha said, bowing his head towards Jin Taejoon. "I didn’t give the miracle pills to Shaman Crystal for free. I actually bought information from her."

"And you used my miracle pills?"

"As far as I know, Appa gave me the right to use those miracle pills—"

Sanha wasn’t able to finish what he was saying because Jin Taejoon threw an ashtray at him.

He could have easily avoided it.

But if he avoided that, then his older brother would only get more pissed. Hence, he let himself get hit on the forehead.

Damn, it hurts.

Sanha’s forehead bled instantly.

"Get out of my sight," Jin Taejoon said coldly. "You explain to Abeoji about the missing miracle pills bottles."

"Yes, Hyung-nim."

Sanha bowed again before leaving the office,

Petty bastard.

"IF I WERE you, I would ask the boss to let you inherit everthing just to piss off your older brother."

Pfft.

Sanha smiled at what Han Yechan said.

The two of them were inside his car, waiting for Lee Junsu to come home.

He had been stalking him for the last two days.

But he had a feeling that something bad would happen tonight.

"Just let Taejoon Hyung be. He’ll die of insecurity one day," Sanha said lightheartedly. He wasn’t kidding, though. "Anyway, the kid is running late."

"Why do you want to help that kid?"

"Just because."

"Just because, my ass," Han Yechan said, scoffing. "Did you fall in love with him or something?"

Sanha smiled and was about to deny it when he finally saw Lee Junsu. "Ah, the kid is here..."

He trailed off when he realized that Lee Junsu was being followed by two men.

But it seemed like Lee Junsu was oblivious because he was wearing headphones.

Tsk.

Kids these days...!

Sanha immediately got out of the car, but it was already too late— one of them had already stabbed Lee Junsu in the back.

"Yah!"

***

WHEN LEE Junsu opened his eyes, he was surprised to find himself in the hospital.

He got worried because it seemed like he was in a private room.

I don’t have the money to pay for this...

And Lee Junsu wouldn’t want Kim Heedo to pay for that either.

"Student, you’re awake?"

Hmm?

Lee Junsu was surprised when a middle-aged woman dressed in traditional clothing greeted him. "Who are you, ma’am?"

The middle-aged woman smiled at him. "My name is Crystal, and I’m the person who saved you."

Oh.

Lee Junsu then remembered what happened to him.

I was stabbed...!

"You can’t report what happened to you, student."

"Excuse me?"

"The person who wants you dead is a chaebol," the woman named Crystal said. "If you ask for help, that person will just try to kill you again. The next time he does, he’ll make sure that you’ll take your own life."

Lee Junsu knitted his eyebrows. "Ma’am, I think you’re mistaken—"

"Chairman Kim Hyungsik."

Oh.

"Your lover’s grandfather wants you gone," Crystal said, smiling at Lee Junsu as if she pitied her. "I can help you, student. If you listen to me, you’ll survive and get the love of your life. However, you have to sacrifice a lot first."

Lee Junsu knew that he shouldn’t trust a stranger easily.

Especially a stranger who knew too much.

I’m good at telling whether I’m being scammed or not. But I can tell that this person is telling the truth. Plus, everything she said is something that an ordinary person couldn’t possibly know.

However, he also knew that there was no such thing as "free lunch" in this kind of world anymore.

"If I ask you for details, how much do I need to pay, ma’am?" Lee Junsu asked carefully. The ahjumma’s offer was tempting, but that didn’t mean he would blindly accept the hand she was extending. "I’m sure you’re not helping me for nothing."

"I’m a shaman," Crystal revealed, smiling. "And you can help me regain my divine power, child."
