Chapter 1237: Tie her up tonight

Silence quickly enveloped the room as soon as the couples left.

"I made them feel bad, did I?" Ram stared at the shut door with a heavy sigh. "Those kids..."

Bear smiled helplessly. "Can you blame them?"

"At least you can walk her down the aisle," Fig cheered up. "You and Bear can... what about Wolf, though? I’m sure he would want to walk her down the aisle too."

"Aha!" To avoid the depressing mood from continuing, Axel walked back to them with a wide grin. "Uncle Ram, didn’t you say the match between you and Wolf has no bet? How about we bet that whoever wins can walk her down the aisle?"

"Can I join?" Bear raised a hand, but Axel shook his head.

"Two can walk the bride down the aisle, so automatically, the first spot is yours," Axel explained in a knowing tone, and no one disputed that. If Bear joined the brawl, he would tie Ram and Wolf together without breaking a sweat.

"Uncle Ram is also worried that Wolf will go easy on him. So, if you put this bet, I don’t think he will!" Axel continued, making them nod in understanding.

"That makes so much sense." Fig nodded. "Consider it as your last battle, Ram."

Bear also rocked his head. "That’s not a bad idea."

Ram assessed their expression before a smile turned up on his face. Battling for the sport to walk Hera down the aisle as his last battle? That didn’t sound bad at all.

"He better be prepared tonight because I’m putting my life on it."

Axel’s face stiffened in horror. "Please don’t say it like that. It sounds like you’d die sooner than we all want you to!"

As the mood in the room returned to its natural calmness, the couple who left were stuck outside.

Hera and Tiger kept their heads low, inevitably worrying their partners. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"Hera," Dominic called, only to watch her lift her head.

As soon as Hera did, her eyes appeared rounder and wiggly as tears flowed from them uncontrollably. It was the same for Tiger.

Dominic and Ivy sighed helplessly, holding their partner’s hands. They didn’t say a word, but they knew their partners already knew their hearts.

"It’s a happy occasion," said Dominic after some time. "I’m sure he’ll appreciate it if we all forget about his illness and just become happy at the gift of the moment."

Tiger sniffed hard and wiped his eyes with his arm. "Hera, Dom, how about we help with the wedding preparations?" He then cast Ivy a look. "Is that okay with you?"

"Of course." Ivy smiled appreciatively. "Since we have limited time, more hands and minds will hasten the planning. How about we set the date in... two weeks?"

"Tomorrow is fine—" Dominic stopped when Ivy suddenly raised a hand in front of his face while keeping her attention to Hera. "What do you think, Hera?"

Hera rubbed her chin and smiled. "Let’s look for venues together. It’ll also help you find a venue for your own wedding."

"Great!" Ivy clapped and, having said that, she quickly went to Hera and linked arms with her. "Have you thought of a theme for your wedding?"

Ivy and Hera strode off, now occupied with the wedding talks, leaving Dominic and Tiger behind.

"Hey, this is a group project!" Tiger yelled at the two. His sadness about Ram’s numbered days slowly disappeared.

Dominic sighed and said, "Let’s follow them. I already had some contacts who can help us."

With that being said, Dominic and Tiger followed the two as if this was a group project with a deadline.

*******

For the past month, most of the reapers stayed in the castle Dominic built for his family. In the first three days, the castle was packed with every member of the Reapers. But after that, they were like leaves in autumn, slowly falling from the trees.

Many of them bid the big boss and their bosses farewell, wishing to continue the life they already started when they first disbanded. Others simply wanted to start anew and figure out their life first. There were a few who were offered to join the Secret Society and assist.

So after a month, there were only a few left in the castle with most of them the core members of the Reapers.

But tonight was different.

After getting an invitation from tonight’s boxing match between Wolf and Ram, others who hadn’t gone far went back to see the match. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — literally because Ram was dying.

Moreover, it might be the last bet they could do with the people they spent life and death with.

"On the left corner... the cunning, the biggest bragger of all time... WOLF!" Axel stood in the middle of the wide landscape with a spotlight on him, holding a microphone as he represented the contenders of tonight’s boxing match.

Those on the sidelines clapped and cheered, whistling Wolf’s name. Wolf, who was given the spotlight, raised his hands arrogantly while nodding.

"Big bad wolf! Big bad wolf!" The crowd chanted.

"Don’t go easy on him, Wolf!"

"Shred him!"

"Our money’s on you!"

After that, the drum roll was once again heard and Axel looked around seriously. When his mouth opened, he introduced Wolf’s opponent.

"On the right side of the corner... the man with numbered days, but he said he’s still going to win this round... Ram!"

"Wooh!"

"Go dying man!"

"Our money’s on you! Use pity card if necessary!"

"Don’t let the big bad wolf get you!"

The amount of cheers and roars in the crowd was equally loud as Wolf’s. After the cheer subsided, Tracy and Deborah happily pranced into the circle, holding up placards that said number 1.

As this was all going on, Hera watched this from the window on the second floor.

"Gosh..." she shook her head, seeing the liveliness in the landscape and the successful events they had managed to hold in just a month. "They never grew up, do they?"

Dominic chuckled. "Who do you think will win?"

"Hmm?" Hera rubbed her chin as she pondered about it. "I don’t know."

"You don’t?"

"They were equally matched, so I’m interested in..." Hera trailed off when she caught a small figure from the corner of her eyes. Shifting her gaze back to where the boxing match was, her eyes dilated upon catching Sebastian sitting on the judging panel, and was the bellman.

"Oh, no, they didn’t!" She yelled angrily, storming away to get her son from this horrible, horrible violent sport.

Dominic glanced at her and then shifted his attention back to the event as if a realization dawned on him. "So, that is why they told me to tie her up tonight. I thought they were being thoughtful."
