I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 244: Ethan Kim’s flat
Chapter 244: Ethan Kim’s flat
The building had low and narrow corridors, cluttered with various items from each household. Saran rushed ahead and ran up to the second floor. He crouched down and listened for any movement, then made a gesture signaling that she could hear someone inside.
After Arlen hurriedly flew back to the Bureau, Draco rushed off to give him the news. They had rushed to Lisa’s apartment and she was not there either. The surveillance around the building had all been scrambled for the last few months and the business management had gotten tired of repairing it so they had not bothered anymore.
They had interviewed some eyewitnesses who claimed that she had left with her handsome boyfriend. They had looked at each other, heart in their mouth. After that, they had gone to the Hospital but the Davenport Bureau claimed that the doctor left in the morning and had not returned since then. He must have returned home.
There was not much faith but they still decided to cling to hope.
The Davenport Bureau had surrendered everything information on the suspect including his address, it had been shocking.
Doctor Ethan Kim, a promising surgeon did not live in the more upscale areas in Davenport but what was known as the abandoned key. It was the former quarters of the mill workers before the Nest Erupted and even though the government had promised to renovate it and turn it into a hospital or a school, they went to rent it to low-income workers.
The Heroes Association had not yet arrived but the first team could not wait anymore and Arlen had asked them to suit up.
Several police officers surrounded the entrance to the upper and lower floors. Draco took out the door breaker.
He expertly took out a lock pick and opened the outer door. He then wedged the door breaker into the wooden doorframe, pumped it up, and then pressed the valve. The next second, Arlen kicked it open and raised his gun, "Police! Don’t move."
With a wave of his hand, everyone swooped into the flat. The bedrooms, the bathroom, and the veranda were kicked open one after the other,
"Don’t move!"
"Police!"
"No one in the bathroom!"
"Bedroom clear!"
The lights in the apartment were turned on and everywhere was completely searched, the wardrobe turned upside down.
The house was empty. It was an old-fashioned apartment décor with a faded green single-door refrigerator with chipped paint. One bathroom, one bedroom, a living room that was joined with a kitchen. The television was old, broadcasting a news report from 25 years ago.
"It is a recorded tape."
"Bag it."
There were no family photographs. There were no photographs at all, no books on the mantle. If not for the lived-in house and the refrigerator filled with food items, Arlen would never believe that this was a person’s home.
"The bathroom," Sarah called out and Arlen strode into the bathroom. There was no bathtub, just a plain old shower. He looked to the left and in the old apartment; there was something new and luxurious. It was a small glass greenery with beautiful red roses.
Arlen took out a breath, the professor had checked the mind of the Statute killer and had found several gaps in his memory but he had looked the Professor up, his registered superpower was psychic intuition so his testimony would not hold in court. Not to mention that Oakdale would do everything that they could to discredit the murder.’
But, the court matter could wait, the most important thing right now was to find Lisa.
He knew that was against everything that he had learned in the police Academy but right now, he did not care for any of that. freewёbnoνel.com
He looked at Ravi and the calm indifference in his eyes made his heart even more painful. It was as if Ravi had resigned himself to hear the terrible news.
"Bag some of those roses for evidence. Take some photos and barricade this place with a tap. Officer North and Officer Jim. You should stay behind and go through the apartment for anything distinguishable. A member of the Heroes Association will bring some gadgets for you."
"Listen up, everyone. We have the identity of the killer, Ethan Kim, 32 years old, Slender at 5’10. He has taken one of our own, Lisa Johnson. We would rest until we had caught him and brought her back to her family. We have sent a Bolo. We need every hand on deck; we would be receiving so many calls from so many people. We would need to filter out the gems. Officer Miller, Officer Garcia, you would return to the Davenport Hospital Bureau with Officer Adams, interview those he worked with closely, and glean information from them. Does he like to fish, does he like to camp, what does he like to eat, we need to know everything about Ethan Kim. Officer Wells, Officer Maya, you would focus on the flats here, door by door, find out everything you can from them."
Arlen’s phone rang and he went to the side to pick it up. The Avalon Bureau of Investigation had arrived at the Davenport Police Bureau. Arlen did not have any problem giving the reins to the ABI, he had contacted them even before the identity of the killer or the fact there was a connection between this killer and the serial killer of Oakdale.
The AIB had sophisticated technology, they also had mutants working under them and they were quite effective, most importantly, it would allow him to focus on getting Lisa back alive while the Bureau focused on capturing the killer.
Arlen sent the address to the ABI when we got another phone call, "We would be on our way back. Officer West and Officer Brown, let’s head back to the Bureau and leave here to the forensic analysts."
Draco headed back downstairs and Arlen stopped to look at Ravi as they left the flat. Down the corridor, some doors have been opened a crack to show that the people inside are listening and watching.
He moved a bit closer, "We would find her. It is not your fault, you know that, right?" Arlen did not know what was going through Ravi’s mind and that scared him the most.
