Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World-Chapter 1354: Betrayal and the Rift
Chapter 1354: Betrayal and the Rift
A chilling killing intent burst forth from her body.
A powerful sense of dread gripped Elder Ryusoo Min. "No! This girl... she’s a true prodigy!"
A top-tier prodigy of the same realm—even if she had just broken through—meant that an old man like him stood no chance.
With a clear understanding of his predicament, Elder Ryusoo Min immediately turned around and fled without a second thought.
He no longer cared about Ryusoo Jin—he had to save himself first.
But Amalia was faster.
The icy grip of death closed in on Elder Ryusoo Min as he glanced back, only to see her figure rapidly catching up.
His heart sank—he wasn’t going to escape.
"Wait! Wait, my friend! Whatever the Fire Vein Tribe promised you, our Water Vein Tribe can double it! Just let this matter go, and we will reward you handsomely!"
The only response he received was Amalia’s blade.
She hadn’t helped Yeom Hwaun for his promise—no, she simply had a particular distaste for people who wore black robes and masks.
Elder Ryusoo Min died without ever knowing the real reason for his demise.
If he had, he probably wouldn’t have been able to rest in peace.
When Amalia arrived where Yeom Hwaun was, the battlefield was a mess.
The warriors of the Fire Vein Tribe were still standing, but as for the Water Vein Tribe and Earth Vein Tribe... not a single intact corpse remained.
"When did you become so ruthless?" He walked over to Wealth, who was licking his paws with an innocent expression.
Wealth looked aggrieved. "Didn’t Mother say I could do as I please?"
"Forget it." He was just making a casual remark.
From the bits and pieces of conversation, he had already more or less guessed the reasons behind the two tribes’ actions.
Yeom Hwaun led the remaining tribe members over, his voice choked with emotion. "Many thanks to both benefactors. From this day forward, you are the honored guests of our Fire Vein Tribe. As long as I live, we will never forget your kindness."
Amalia nodded slightly. "Take some time to rest and recover."
"Thank you, My lady."
Yeom Hwaun immediately instructed his people—those who needed medicine took it, while those who were not seriously injured began clearing the battlefield, collecting anything useful, including the storage items of the dead.
He then brought the collected items to Amalia. "My lady, these people were slain by you. The spoils of war rightfully belong to you."
Wealth eagerly opened a few storage bags to inspect them.
Finding nothing of interest, he tossed them back, looking disappointed. "Boring."
Amalia also glanced through the items.
Seeing nothing she needed, she returned them. "No need. These things are of no use to me. Keep them if you want."
Yeom Hwaun was overjoyed. "Thank you, my lady!"
After securing the items, he informed Amalia that they could leave.
As they exited the forest, they encountered a group of devils who had rushed over upon hearing the commotion.
Without a word, the devils attacked, only to be slaughtered without exception.
"This is the Devil Battlefield?" Amalia looked surprised.
She had assumed they were outside its boundaries, yet these creatures were clearly devils.
"No, we’re outside the Devil Battlefield," Yeom Hwaun replied, further surprising her.
Amalia realized she needed to figure out exactly where they were. "The devils were supposed to be sealed inside the devil battlefield. How did they escape? Where is your tribe located on the Mystic Void Continent?"
Yeom Hwaun answered, "Our tribe is located in the eastern Oryeong Mountains. The devils were indeed sealed inside the devil battlefield, but for some reason, a year ago, they started appearing here. At first, there were only a few of them, but then their numbers increased. Their strength varies, and we have no idea where they’re coming from. The strongest ones have reached the Tribulation Stage. My father... he was killed by a Mahayana stage Devil."
"But today, we discovered that there might be a passage connecting this mountain to the Devil Battlefield."
He then briefly explained the situation before their encounter with the Earth Vein Tribe and Water Vein Tribes.
"The seal on the Devil Battlefield has been broken? That’s not good..." Amalia immediately realized that the situation on the Mystic Void Continent might be worse than she had imagined. "What time is it now?"
Yeom Hwaun instinctively wanted to say that it was near nightfall, but then he reconsidered.
Surely, the benefactor wouldn’t ask something so obvious—perhaps she meant something else.
So he took a guess and gave her an estimated time.
Amalia was stunned.
She and Kenny Lin had spent less than a year in the Andromeda Universe, yet two years had passed on the Mystic Void Continent.
"Let’s return to your tribe first. You can explain everything to me on the way."
"Understood."
Because Amalia wanted to hear about recent events, Yeom Hwaun didn’t get a chance to ask about Ryusoo Min’s fate.
It was only when they passed the battlefield and saw Ryusoo Min’s broken corpse that he realized—a Body Integration stage Elder from the Water Vein Tribe had been slain.
He could sense that the benefactor’s aura had become even more profound.
Perhaps her strength had increased—but to what extent?
Had she reached the Body Integration Stage? If so, this might be an opportunity for the Fire Vein Tribe.
Despite his heavy thoughts, Yeom Hwaun did not forget to recount everything he knew to Amalia.
As the son of the previous Fire Vein Chieftain, he had always been privy to more information than the average tribesman.
Now, as the chieftain himself, his contact with the outside world had only increased.
Two years ago, a massive war broke out on the Devil Battlefield.
The devils and the human cultivators clashed in an intense battle that lasted an entire month before it finally ceased.
The entire battlefield was thrown into chaos, and neither side dared to venture out recklessly afterward.
That war claimed countless lives—both from the humans and devils side.
