Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World-Chapter 1355: The Seeds of Doubt
Chapter 1355: The Seeds of Doubt
"My father told me that the devils suddenly launched an all-out assault back then. They simultaneously attacked multiple cities near Copperstone Region, seemingly to divert the attention of the Mahayana Stage cultivators who are guarding those places. However, their true target actually none other than the esteemed Master Lian... and a disciple of an elusive, top-tier powerhouse who had long remained hidden from the world."
"My father said that that top-tier powerhouse was from the same era as Master Lian. In her youth, she swept across the Mystic Void Continent with a single blade. Not only did the major sects avoid conflict with her, but even the devils feared her. However, she later vanished without a trace—until her disciple got into trouble, and only then did she re-emerge."
Yeom Hwaun had no idea that the disciple of this legendary powerhouse was standing right in front of him.
When he spoke about Tian Wuya, his face was filled with admiration. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Although he had never witnessed the woman’s strength personally and was not born in that era, he had heard his father recount the great events of thousands of years past so often that he, too, had developed a sense of awe.
"What was the outcome of that great battle?" Amalia asked, her expression complex.
"After the battle at Copperstone Region, a Mahayana stage cultivator was killed. Before Eternal One Sect could even seek justice from Green Lotus Sect, Master Tian Wuya—the top-tier powerhouse—personally stormed their gates. It is said that to avenge her disciple, she hunted down all the Mahayana stage cultivators involved in the conspiracy, leaving them drenched in blood."
Amalia felt a warmth spread in her heart.
Her master, who had always remained hidden from the world, had actually emerged just to hunt down hier enemies.
"And then?"
"After that, the war on the Devil Battlefield escalated. It was no longer confined to the cities near Copperstone Region—conflicts broke out in other regions as well. A full-scale war erupted between the human race and the devils. Major sects continued to send reinforcements, many of whom never left the battlefield again. Instead, they remained stationed in cities, holding the line. It has now been two years, and during this time, a massive battle broke out between the human Mahayana stage cultivators and the Emperor level devils. The fighting was fierce, and among all the sects, the Green Lotus Sect stood out the most. Their Mahayana stage cultivators nearly deployed in full force. Although some of them were seriously injured, they managed to slay two Emperor level devils."
Yeom Hwaun grew more and more excited as he spoke, failing to notice the shift in Amalia’s expression.
"Who was injured? Did anyone from Green Lotus Sect die?" Amalia interrupted.
Yeom Hwaun detected a trace of urgency in her voice.
Although he was curious, he did not probe further and simply answered, "No one died. It’s said that two people were seriously injured in exchange for the lives of two Emperor level devils. The devils were absolutely furious."
Amalia frowned. "Do you know which two cultivators that were injured?"
"I only know that one of them seems to be Master Lian. As for the other, I’m not sure."
Amalia was shocked.
Given her Master Lian’s strength, how could he have suffered serious injuries?
Unless... it was intentional.
She recalled Yeom Hwaun’s words—"Two people were seriously injured in exchange for the lives of two Emperor level devils"—and was almost certain that it was part of a larger plan.
"If the devils lost two Emperor level devils, they wouldn’t have let it slide, would they?"
"Mm, after a period of recovery, the devils reignited the war. For the past two years, the battles have been ongoing in a constant tug-of-war."
After pondering for a moment, Amalia asked, "Do you know the current situation of the Devil Battlefield?"
Yeom Hwaun nodded. "I know a little. The Devil Battlefield is far more dangerous than before. They no longer allow human cultivators to venture too far for training, in order to prevent ambushes. However, some prodigies still insist on going out to train."
Amalia frowned. "Then how did devils appear in the Oryeong Mountains? Are they able to leave the Devil Battlefield?"
"As for how they got here, I don’t know," Yeom Hwaun admitted. "All I know is that during that time, my father frequently led our strongest warriors out. Sometimes, they would be gone for an entire month. Later, when I finally received news of him, it was about his death."
Yeom Hwaun’s expression darkened for a moment.
He gritted his teeth and continued, "They all say my father was killed by the devils. But my father was so powerful—there’s no way he could have died so easily, even if he was caught off guard."
Amalia hadn’t expected this twist. "You suspect that your father was killed by people from another tribe?"
Yeom Hwaun clenched his fists. "But I have no proof. All the other tribes gave the same account."
Amalia hummed in response. "Yet earlier, they attempted to divide up your tribe."
At that moment, Wealth’s voice echoed in Amalia’s mind.
"Mother, ask him if he knows anything about them."
Amalia gave Wealth a reassuring glance before turning to Yeom Hwaun. "Do you know if the battle on Copperstone Region two years ago was triggered by the discovery of the Pixiu’s Forbidden Grounds?"
Yeom Hwaun nodded. "I’ve heard a little about it. My father told me that the incident was actually a scheme that was orchestrated by the devil to lure Master Lian into a trap."
"Do you know anything about those Pixiu?"
Yeom Hwaun shook his head. "That, I’m not sure about."
Wealth was a little disappointed and buried his head in Amalia’s arms.
They continued heading toward the Fire Vein Tribe, but even after arriving, they saw no sign of the elders who were supposed to come to their rescue.
Yeom Hwaun quickly questioned the tribe members, asking if they had seen the elders return.
