Blood Nemesis-Chapter 137: Meat Secured
Chapter 137: Meat Secured
"Em!"
Oliver’s focus momentarily shifted from the hidden enemies in the forest to the young lady. Her uncharacteristically kind demeanor surprised him. It was so shocking that he even forgot to feign injury.
"Are you okay?" Lin Yue asked, sliding behind him and supporting his body.
’The fuck are you saying? Do I look okay, being like this?’ Oliver wanted to retort, but he controlled himself, clenching his jaw as he managed, "No."
Oliver spoke with deliberate effort, as if each word was forced out through immense pain, exaggerating his injury. "Get me the emergency medical kit from my car."
"Eh?" Lin Yue was confused. Had the pain made him delirious? Her eyebrows rose as she looked around—there was no car in sight. What was he talking about?
"He meant boat," Root fortunately interjected, clarifying the misunderstanding. "Let me get it." He then ran back to the boat, leaving Oliver behind.
Meanwhile, the elder who had snapped Oliver’s hand stood quietly nearby, bewildered. Was it all just a misunderstanding?
After a moment, seeing the young lady supporting Oliver, he stepped forward and asked, "Miss, what happened?"
Instead of Lin Yue, Oliver cut in, his voice brimming with resentment. "You happened, you crooked old man! Why did you snap my bone like a twig? What did I do to you? Is this how the Lin family treats those who help them? What are you—a demon in disguise?"
The flurry of questions and the final accusation overwhelmed the elder. His mouth opened to speak, but Oliver continued. "She was going to eat the dragon core. I quickly stopped her, otherwise, she would have consumed the damned thing. But what did I get in return? A broken arm!"
The elder’s eyes widened. "Why?" He glanced at Lin Yue, who nodded.
"Hm." But the elder wasn’t convinced. He looked at Oliver, who was clutching his hand, and asked, "How did you know that?"
Oliver’s lips curled slightly. ’Thanks for asking me that.’ None of them realized a third party subtly controlled everything from the sidelines, and he intended to keep it that way.
"Because I almost did the same. When I first took out the dragon core, it also tried to enchant me into consuming it. I presume the same happened with her."
"Then why didn’t you tell us about it?" The elder’s voice was exasperated. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Did I have time to talk? I barely threw it away after realizing it was controlling me." Oliver glanced at Lin Yue beside him. "And she caught it and almost ate it."
What Oliver said was more true than a lie.
He genuinely didn’t have the luxury of explaining everything; it happened too quickly. At that moment, his only thought was to avoid eating it and attracting the hatred of the entire Lin clan. That’s why he threw it at them unhesitatingly. Even if someone ate it, he thought it should be them, avoiding all accountability for himself.
’Phew... I was quick on my feet,’ Oliver thought, looking at the faces of the two nearby while slowly distancing himself from Lin Yue.
Although the pretty lady held him delicately, he felt he was in more danger when she was close. Perhaps it was the instincts of his past life telling him to avoid her, or perhaps it was the distant enemies watching everything closely, or perhaps it was both.
’I seem to have successfully put all the blame on the dragon core,’ he concluded after observing the faces of both Lin Yue and the elder. Although his explanation lacked detail, he had steered their thoughts into believing the dragon core itself was controlling them.
"Did the dragon core have that ability?" the elder mumbled.
Oliver, close enough to hear, replied, "Who knows what a dragon can do? Maybe the residual resentment stored in the dragon core did it. Anyway, you broke my hand." Oliver pouted, glaring ferociously at the elder.
Covered in blood with disheveled hair, he looked pathetic.
The elder looked down, ashamed, not daring to meet Oliver’s resentful eyes.
Fortunately, Root returned at that exact moment and saved him. He took the medkit and hurried to Oliver. Silently, he applied a plaster to Oliver’s hand and then gave him a pill to swallow.
Oliver patiently waited until his entire hand was covered in plaster. The guilty duo, the elder and Lin Yue, waited patiently nearby.
Injuries in battle were normal, and with today’s medical technology, even a severed hand could be regrown. So, Oliver’s injury wasn’t serious. Still, they winced when they saw Oliver clenching his jaw in pain. While the injury could be healed, the pain he felt was real, and it was certainly not something to be joked about.
Oliver moaned when the plaster tightened and hardened within seconds. Root gave him a look, unable to understand what angle Oliver was playing, but knowing something was happening.
Oliver, on the other hand, positioned himself to get a clear view of the enemies. His eyes occasionally glanced at them, piercing the darkness.
He was slightly shocked to see them motionless, standing like statues without a single twitch. He was somewhat impressed; this wasn’t the level an untrained group could reach. They were a dedicated bunch.
Still, the most surprising fact was their restraint, choosing not to attack Oliver and the rest. They seemed hell-bent on not revealing their presence. ’That might be why they used a mental attack,’ Oliver mused thoughtfully. Perhaps the situation wasn’t as dangerous as he thought. Oliver felt relieved.
He was running low on blood. Of the 40,000 liters he had, he’d used almost 33,000, leaving him with only 7,000. That wasn’t enough to win a battle against another possible A-ranker.
Just as he was thinking that, he saw the red marks in his vision retreating. Then, he noticed an airship flying in from the horizon, its lights on. The ship was slightly bigger than Oliver’s. It flew quickly towards them and hovered above.
Lin Yue and the elder were relieved to see it. "That’s our ship. If you need any medical assistance, you can come in," Lin Yue said, looking at Oliver. He could see the embarrassment on her face. Oliver’s eyes twitched.
"No, thanks. I will be coming to your family’s house to discuss compensation for my injuries. As for the dragon core, we will talk about it at that time too."
Lin Yue understood why Oliver was angry, but still asked again. Oliver rejected her again without hesitation. Root pinched him from the side, obviously perplexed, not understanding why Oliver was rejecting her goodwill.
Meanwhile, the airship landed a couple of meters away, on the open ground where the other half of the flood dragon lay.
Some people wearing old-style martial arts training costumes alighted from the flying craft and approached the elder and Lin Yue, concerned. Lin Yue and the elder had chased after the flood dragon, abandoning their ship, so the newcomers were naturally concerned about their well-being.
’A troublesome bunch,’ Oliver thought as dozens of high-ranked superhumans surrounded him.

Time passed swiftly.
By dawn, Oliver had Root chop up the usable pieces of flood dragon meat and store them in the boat.
The elder, feeling guilty for what he had done, apologized and helped them pack the meat. Oliver gave him a side-eye for a while but eventually accepted his apology. Although the elder had overreacted, he wasn’t a bad person and hadn’t intended to kill. As long as no one harmed his family or friends, Oliver was willing to forgive.
While apologizing, the elder also explained that he thought Oliver was a superhuman of similar rank to themselves, which was why he had been so heavy-handed. He never intended to break his arm. This greatly improved his image in Oliver’s mind.
At that time, Oliver smiled and stated he was an eighteen-year-old B-ranker from Dragon City. That’s when they finally connected the dots and realized who he was. Apparently, Oliver, "The Golden Fiend," was making a name for himself, even in the capital city where the Lin family house was.

A few hours later, the airship carrying Lin Yue and the elders disappeared from Oliver’s vision. They had returned to save Lin Yue’s sister, who was on death’s door.
Oliver, on the other hand, was busy. He discarded the plaster after his arm healed and glanced at the nearly stacked blocks of meat, packed in thin plastic bags. The entire rear storage area was filled with the meat, so he had to use thick ropes to secure it.
A smile blossomed on his lips at the sight.
The remaining parts—the bones, scales, leather, and meat he couldn’t fit inside the boat—were sold to the Lin family before they left.
Immediately, the money in his digital wallet increased by five million creds. His entire boat was valued less than that. It was a significant amount of money, even after keeping most of the meat.
’Maybe I should be a hunter and go hunting every day,’ Oliver thought. All the grievances he had with the Lin family were immediately forgotten.
Besides that, the money for the dragon core and compensation had yet to be reimbursed. The value of the dragon core could easily reach tens of millions, on the low side. Thus, they couldn’t pay without a network connection, which wasn’t possible on the second Earth. So, he had to wait until they reached Earth.
Oliver giggled happily, truly satisfied with everything that had happened.
Then he went into the boat cockpit and looked at Root.
"As your guild leader, I have to say that you performed well in these troubling times. For that, I am going to reward you with 100,000 creds."
Root, who looked like a wilted leaf, opened his half-closed eyes in surprise.
"Nemesis Guild is too awesome, right?" Oliver happily said and sat in the cockpit, thinking about his next plan, which was catching the mythical beast.
