Chapter 69: A Gift Of Appreciation For Patty

As everyone enjoyed their meal, laughter and lighthearted conversation filled the dining area.

The warmth of the moment made James relax, savoring the atmosphere of family and friends gathered together.

But just as he was about to take another bite, the chime of the front gate’s intercom rang through the house, cutting through the chatter.

James paused mid-chew, his mind quickly piecing together what it could be.

Then it hit him.

The car.

His eyes widened slightly as he suddenly remembered — the Range Rover Autobiography he had ordered for Patty was set to arrive today.

He hadn’t thought — remembered it because he was distracted and preoccupied with other things.

James set down his fork, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and stood up from the table.

"You all continue eating," he said, pushing his chair back. "I was expecting something today." freewebnoveℓ.com

Leslie, already mid-bite, looked at him curiously but shrugged. The others glanced up for a moment but quickly resumed their meal, figuring it wasn’t anything too serious.

James walked toward the front entrance, making his way to the control panel near the door. With a press of a button, the heavy iron gate slid open, allowing the incoming vehicle to enter.

A low, smooth rumble echoed through the premises as a sleek black Range Rover Autobiography rolled into the driveway.

James stepped outside, watching as the delivery driver carefully parked the SUV in a prime spot in front of the mansion.

The car was a beauty — luxurious, elegant, and exuding the perfect blend of comfort and prestige. It was exactly the kind of car that suited Patty — a car worthy of a woman who had sacrificed so much.

The driver got out and walked toward James with a polite nod before handing him the key fob.

"Delivery completed, sir," the driver said.

James nodded and reached into his pocket, pulling out a small stack of crisp hundred-dollar bills. He handed them over as the delivery fee — with a generous tip added on top.

"Thanks," James said simply.

The driver’s eyes widened slightly at the tip, but he accepted it with a grateful smile before heading back. Within moments, he exited the premises, leaving behind the pristine SUV sitting in the driveway.

James turned back toward the house, only to realize something.

Everyone was staring at him.

The sound of the car pulling in had attracted everyone’s attention, and now, standing in front of the dining area and they all had their eyes locked on him and the Range Rover.

James chuckled at their expressions before finally walking back inside.

Leslie was the first to speak.

"James... what the hell did you just buy?!"

Her voice was filled with shock and curiosity, her eyes darting between him and the car outside.

James didn’t answer right away. Instead, he walked straight toward Patty, a small smile playing at his lips.

Patty’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as she glanced between James and the SUV parked outside.

When he finally reached her, she folded her arms and gave him a questioning look.

"James... whose car is that?" she asked, her voice calm but filled with curiosity.

James’ smile widened as he reached into his pocket and pulled out the key fob.

Then, with a bright smile, he extended it toward her.

"It’s yours, Patty."

The room fell into absolute silence.

For a moment, Patty just stared at the key fob in James’ hand, as if her mind refused to process what was happening.

"Mine?" she repeated in a whisper, her voice barely audible.

James nodded. "Yep. Your new car."

Patty’s lips parted slightly in disbelief.

Leslie’s jaw dropped.

The rest of the table went dead silent, their eyes flickering between James, Patty, and the brand-new luxury SUV parked outside.

Then, suddenly—

"WHAT?!" Leslie practically screamed, nearly knocking over her drink.

She turned to her mom, her eyes wide with shock.

"MOM, HE JUST BOUGHT YOU A FREAKING RANGE ROVER!"

Of course she didn’t need to scream like that, but she wouldn’t be Leslie if she doesn’t. Also, James has been shocking her too much lately.

From the expensive celebration dinner, to paying off the mortgage, to sending a total of almost a million dollars to her and her mom, to the house, the supercar, and now a car for her mom?!

If she didn’t react the way she did, how was she supposed to react?

Patty, still in a state of shock, slowly shook her head.

"James... this is too much. I can’t—"

"Yes, you can." James cut her off before she could even try to refuse.

His voice was firm, but filled with warmth. He knew that Patty wasn’t going to accept the gift that easily.

"You’ve spent your entire life putting everyone else first," he continued, his tone softening. "You deserve this, Patty. No more buses, no more waiting for rides. This is yours."

Patty looked at the key fob again, as if still processing the reality of the situation.

Leslie, still reeling, turned to James with a mix of shock and admiration.

"Wow. James... you’re really out here just casually buying luxury cars now?"

James chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "It’s nothing crazy."

"Nothing crazy?!" Leslie shrieked. "A freaking RANGE ROVER is ’nothing crazy’ to you now?!"

James couldn’t help but roll his eyes at her reaction. He wonder why she was exaggerating so much?

Ralph, who had been quietly observing the scene, finally let out a low whistle.

"Bro... you’re really built different."

James smirked but kept his eyes on Patty.

She finally let out a soft breath, her fingers reaching out hesitantly before gently taking the key fob from his hand.

She stared at it for a long moment, her emotions clearly conflicted.

And then — she smiled.

A warm, genuine smile filled with gratitude and love.

"Thank you, James," she whispered.

James smiled back. "You’re welcome."

The moment of silence was suddenly broken by Leslie’s excited scream.

"WE HAVE TO TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE!"

The entire room burst into laughter as the tension melted away.

Patty wiped at the corner of her eye, shaking her head with amusement.

"Alright, alright. After we finish eating."

With that, everyone slowly returned to their seats, the mood brighter than ever.

James took his seat once more, feeling a deep satisfaction settle in his chest.

This was what he wanted. To see them happy. To make their lives better.
