Chapter 94: Rough and Fiesty

Chapter Ninety-Four

"All I’m saying is, we can solve this like civilized people."

"We are not civilized people." Ahmet quickly reminded him.

"Exactly. And this isn’t something to go all rough on. Just ask Vick to meet Asli and Matilda with his daughter. They apologize and promise it won’t happen again." Markus suggested and it sounded reasonable.

"I guess you are right."

"I’m always right," Markus concluded with a teasing time and Ahmet smiled too. Markus could never keep up with being serious for ten minutes straight.

"So let’s talk to Vick and schedule the meeting as soon as possible. Maybe on this Wednesday," Ahmet voiced out but Markus shook his head.

"Asli wouldn’t be available. She’d be traveling to the East for a mission with Demir." Markus revealed and there the feeling was back.

He hated the man though she said he was her cousin. There was something about him that didn’t sit right with him.

"And I found out some crazy secret. Demir isn’t Asli’s biological cousin. And he wants to get closer to her than he already is. You know what that means."

Now his anxiousness was taking over. He could not take it anymore and started pacing about. Markus could see through him.

"Apparently, he is her father’s successor. Probably because she is a woman." Markus added but he shook his head.

"No. It’s because she is the adopted one. If they are not cousins and he is Marco’s successor, It can only mean, he is his Nephew and Asli is adopted." Ahmet corrected him

"That makes sense. We all think he is or she is betrothed to him. Since she was working too hard, it would be sad for him to inherit everything but if he were to marry her, she’d be entitled to the Organization as well."

"How many times would they ask her to marry someone? Did her father not promise her even to you?" Ahmet snapped as if his cousin was the source of his anger.

"Well, I don’t think her father would agree to that. I heard rumors it was their feelings for each other that made them decide to move him overseas. Everyone knew about it."

Ahmet studied him to see if he was teasing him or just reporting whatever gist he got to him.

Markus had a teasing smile on his face. He rolled his eyes at him. He was enjoying his discomfort, wasn’t he?

"But I am someone her father has agreed to allow her to marry after I wipe you off the throne. You better bow to me so I can keep you as one of my guards." He laughed. He could never forgive him for this but Ahmet was experiencing his first time being jealous and he looked... so cute he couldn’t help but tease him.

"How long is he staying for?"

"Who?"

"You know who exactly I’m talking about, Markus!"

Markus laughed, tormenting him. "I’m guessing he’d be staying for a long time."

Was Asli going to cheat on him?

That question was wrong, he knew that. They weren’t in a relationship but he didn’t want anyone else to touch her... to taste her or feel her. He’d kill anyone who did that and it wasn’t even something to ponder about.

Demir would be as good as dead if he touched her. With or without her permission.

"Mehn, I’m so exhausted. How were today’s operations? Is there anything I need to know?" Markus wanted to change the topic when he saw how Ahmet’s knuckles had turned red because of how hard he clenched his fists.

"Well, as always. I’m just curious. How is her reaction when she is around him?" They went back to Asli and Demir’s case.

"Nope, you aren’t just curious. She’s still Asli but a little gentler and freer when around him. It could be because they grew up together."

Because they grew up together. The word echoed in his head and he didn’t like the feeling.

"If anyone had told me I’d one day see you being this jealous, I would never have believed." Markus teased.

"I’m not jealous." he defended, scoffing at the same time.

"Yeah, and I have never killed anyone before. Just accept the fact that you can feel and you are jealous! I’m adding that to your accolades. Jealous man "

"Who is a jealous man? Markus." a gentle female voice sounded from the stairs.

Ahmet quickly signed to his cousin not to tell his mother anything but Markus only just rushed to her, increasing his pressure.

"It’s a friend of mine. He’s seeing someone and her childhood sweetheart is back," Markus told the older woman without mentioning Ahmet’s name.

"Oh but if he hadn’t defined what they are, then he doesn’t have the right to be jealous. ’Seeing someone’ isn’t enough to get all jealous when that someone is with someone else. It’s either she is his girlfriend, fiancee, or wife," the woman cheerfully explained.

She had always liked for them to have these kinds of conversations. She didn’t know how to fight or even fire a gun and always felt left out. So Ahmet could tell she appreciated Markus telling her about this.

"Yeah but... they are nothing of that sort." He also added, just in case his mother was about to list things for him to do to make Asli his girlfriend, fiancee, or wife.

"Then there is nothing to be jealous about. Your friend is not entitled to that." the woman continued.

Ahmet began again. "It’s not like ’he’ doesn’t want to put a name to their relationship. What makes you think he is preventing..."

Markus quickly added. His tone carried amusement as much as teasing. "Oh, so you mean ’he’ wants to put a label on her but ’she’ isn’t allowing that. Oh, poor guy."

Ahmet threw him a dirty look and he opened his arms as if he didn’t know what he was saying.

"Is this person your friend or Ahmet’s?" The woman asked, confused as to who knew the ’he’ better than the other since Markus started by introducing the person and then later, asking Ahmet as if he didn’t know that much about him.

"Well, he’s my friend but Ahmet knows him better than I do."

"Oh, so he’s a Mafia too. As long as she isn’t a killer too, I’m sure..." she paused and the two boys glanced at each other. The woman noticed their gazes. "Is she an Assassin or fighter or something closer to this profession?" The mother began to be curious, distaste filled in her tone.

The two boys remained quiet.

"It would end in disaster if they both are in this role together. Most of these Mafia men marry women who aren’t. Look at your dad and I?"

"Mum, don’t sweat it." Ahmet decided to calm the woman down.

"No. Clearly, this issue is bothering you two. I can only imagine what your friend is going through too. I personally wouldn’t want any of you ending up with women in your profession or like the ones you hire to kill. I know what I mean. She does not want to put a label on what is going on between them because she does not care. She is ruthless and would jump from one bed to the other just to satisfy herself. She would not want kids. Tell me, do you think such a woman would care about anyone?" The woman wouldn’t stop and the concerns only made Ahmet frown.

First of all, Asli was not that kind of a woman to be jumping from one man to the other. If anything, he knew that first hand.

Secondly, Asli would care for anyone she called hers. He had gotten that idea about her when she found out about what happened to Matilda.

Lastly, why was his mother pressed?

"Well, I allowed you two to grow up the way your fathers wanted but I made an agreement with them, including your mother," she pointed at Markus, "before she passed... that I will help you two find suitable women who would protect your children and home. A woman in your profession wouldn’t care."

’Well, it is only a woman in our profession that can protect our homes and children.’ Markus wanted to say but refrained when he noticed Ahmet watching his mother as if he couldn’t believe the words that were coming out.

Now, Ahmet’s mother was shaking as if she had heard something impossible.

"Calm down, mum. You remember Rachel, right? Grey’s woman. She was an Assassin. You loved her." Ahmet tried to draw her attention to that instead.

"Yeah and you and I know she retired very early and my guess is she found something more fighting for than this." She told them and the men kept quiet. She nodded. "If you want to be happy like your fathers, you’ll stay away from these women."

"Aunt, come on. Which woman would risk it all to marry us? Do you want us to kidnap them like my father did with my mum or do you want us to blackmail them like you were blackmailed? They won’t understand our profession like someone in it would." Markus voiced out.

"Well, I promised to find you two good wives."

"We are Mafias. We don’t need ’good.’ We are used to them being rough." Ahmet mentioned dismissively.

Markus laughed, "Yeah, and feisty." And added.
