Chapter 63: Did he tell Markus?
Chapter Sixty Three
They walked towards her dining area and saw someone seated in one of the chairs, his back facing her.
"Have I not told you all not to let strangers into my space?" Asli shot an angry look at Ruth. Her nanny only opened her hands feigning her innocence.
"Now, come on. Don’t blame the poor woman. Is it wrong to visit my future wife?" Markus joked as he got up from his seat.
"Markus, get out!" Asli looked calm but her tone was not.
"No. Come, dinner is ready." Markus ushered her.
"You are inviting Asli to eat in her own suite?" Matilda could not hide her little laugh.
"Wait a minute." He paused his finger on his lips as if trying to figure something out. He then resumed, "You get to call her Asli? Who are you?" Markus was finding something new about her. The woman had a soft spot after all. What was so special about this young girl?
Asli resumed her walk, ignoring him and he watched her quietly. "I see you had fun last night."
"What?" That was not a question. She was scared. Did Ahmet tell him about what happened between them last night? Or any of the nights?
After telling him Markus was a traitor? Did he trust him that much or was he fooling her? If he told him then it meant he did not believe her.
No, or it meant whatever they did together did not mean anything to him.
Why would it? When she had told him it meant nothing to her.
If Markus found out, was he not going to blubber it to her father? Was he also going to blackmail her till she slept with him? The thought repulsed her so much that she wanted to throw up.
She was not attracted to Markus but would he force her to sleep with him? Was he... was he going to blackmail her?
’Curse you brothers.’ she almost yelled while her hand was moving to her waist band. Her gun was in there. She would kill him or anyone who knew she slept with Ahmet. Even if it meant her father had plans for or with him.
"Why do you look like that, Asli?" Matilda, who was probably scared by her facial expression, called out, trying to divert her attention to her Aunt.
But he ignored her, his eyes still squinting at Asli. "You were fighting last night, weren’t you? You were sent elsewhere while I was to accompany your dad on a mission you started. Now your father is giving me the extra work." Markus sighed while he went back to take his seat and picked up a fork before continuing. "I hate working hard."
"Yet you want to head an empire? A whole Organization and Villa?" She was not convinced if he knew about her and Ahmet or not.
"What do you think? Your cousins are lazing about while you do all the work too. Tell me, have they even killed half the number you have killed? Have they tortured a quarter of what you have? Have they gone for missions that could claim their lives, like you have? I know you know who your father would leave this Villa to. And I know you are aware that isn’t going to be you. Ahmet is working just as hard as you are but he does not have what it takes."
"And do you think you have what it takes?" She snapped. She did not care if she sounded like she was angry on Ahmet’s behalf. Or that he was going to lose everything while he was working so hard. Or probably it was just that she was speaking for herself.
"Of course. I am more handsome." Markus responded and Asli shook her head. She didn’t know whether she was angry or not.
His head must have hit the ground when he was born. She could see why her father decided to help him... the right word would be used. Imagine this person heading a whole organization.
No.
After they discarded Ahmet and his loyal men, Markus would be tossed aside if not killed. He was a lost one anyway.
She sat down, positioning herself in a more comfortable manner. She groaned angrily when she was not getting it. She adjusted to one that was more comfortable enough.
"The mission must have been a tough one. If you are in this state, then I wonder how you left your opponent. Or, is this opponent a strong one? Clearly, you took a lot of hits to end up like this." Markus remarked as he took a spoon full of rice in his mouth. His eyes were fixed on his plate.
Asli resumed watching him. She was still not sure if he did not know or not. But before she could say anything, Ruth was speaking. "Well, she wins all fights, even if she returns wounded. So just know the other person or people ended up with broken joints." The older woman spoke with pride.
"Yeah, so I have heard. They said she once walked through fire unscathed. Damn." Markus added and the whole talk of her being extraordinary began.
While she sat there, her whole body was aching and unlike what she was used to, she knew she would not be able to hide this one, especially with her limping through her work.
They had leave and off days. She had not used any before. She could use some days to... heal. Maybe she could use this as an excuse to relax her gun.
Ahmet really did her some good damage and now she could not tell if Markus was sincerely talking about fights or teasing her.
But considering how her Nanny was not curious, she was sure Markus too would not know unless Ahmet had told him and she doubted Ahmet would tell him that.
She ate a little since she was already full from the morning’s breakfast. Ahmet could cook and even fold clothes. Was he trying to impress her?
Ahmet.
She had come a lot per his promise. How many times? Was it 30? Or was it 50? Could it be 90? There was no way it was up to the 107 he said. Or was it possible? He did not even know the number of times she shot her gun in the week.
"Ruth, you cook deliciously." He praised and her Nanny smiled at him. Asli continued to eye them. Whatever was going on, she hoped her nanny would not get attached to him. He was a walking carcass. He was already a dead man.
"I am off to see my father. Is he home at the moment?" She announced as she tried to leave the table. The pain she felt getting up was as equal to when she sat or walked. Oh, she hoped the man would not notice.
"I can’t tell if he’s back or not, but I’m guessing he’s back in his suite because he had left with Markus. Since he is here, I am sure your father is back too." Matilda answered, her eyes holding a little fear as she told about Asli’s father.
