The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 297: Yura the softie.
By the time they arrived at her mother-in-law’s new place, Alix had all the details and information which the system had, except for the reason why she had almost been attacked.
None of the beads on the bracelet had changed color as she expected. With the way the beads had been burning hot, she thought they would all be black by now. Alix felt more pressure now to return to the level one world and find another bracelet somehow.
She touched it and calmed her anxious self. This little thing just might be the best lucky item she received from the game.
The wild imagination of what could have transpired in that underground parking lot if the bracelet had not warned her continued plaguing her mind while she waited for the door leading into Yura’s condo to open. The moment it opened, she saw her mother-in-law Yura whose eyes had a rare glow of happiness.
Yura looked relaxed, calmer and happier than she had the last time Alix had seen her. She was like a brand new woman whose stress was all gone. Even her aura was more welcoming and lighter.
"Alix, dear, you are here. Come Zhang An has been here for just ten minutes ans she is whining because you had yet to arrive. I don’t know what you fed that obstinate daughter of mine to make her love you. She is even obedient to you more than me."
She filed the thoughts about the almost disaster away temporarily and smiled at her mother-in-law.
"Mother-in-law, hello." she greeted.
"Come in, let’s exchange greetings when you are inside the house." Yura led her inside by the hand.
Bi Cang and uncle Ju followed with the gifts which Alix had brought over. Both men had both their hands occupied.
"You brought so many things. You didn’t have to my dear." Yura said. "Put them down here." She pointed to the nearest table in the living room.
Alix in the meantime was already observing the clean luxurious condo whose furniture was all white. Suddenly, she worried about the dogs which she had brought. Would these beautiful white sofas survive the paws of two playful dogs? Would the pillows end up being shredded? And the probably expensive porcelain decorations on artisanal stools, would they survive the fate of turning into broken useless crap?
Alix decided there and then to tell her mother-in-law about the dogs before going any further.
"Mother...." she started.
Zhang An cut in by running over, shouting in a high pitched voice. "Majesty, Majesty, sister, you brought our beautiful Majesty."
Meow, meow, meow....
"Don’t let her get me Alix, she is very clingy. She kisses my cheeks and touches my butt. Pervert, the human girl is a pervert."
Majesty struggled and cried unwillingly in Alix’s arms but all was futile because Zhang An whisked him out of Alix’s arms before she could be stopped.
"I am sorry Majesty." Alix called out.
Meow, meow, meow....
"You will pay for this human. If you don’t want the be struck by the lightning of the seven apostles....." The cat called out but the rest Alix didn’t hear as Zhang An vanished into the kitchen.
Looking on helplessly, Yura shook her head before looking at Alix with apologetic eyes. "I understand why you are apologizing to Majesty, An An is really too much. She doesn’t give that cat any personal space. But, all she is going to do is feed him right now. The way is crying, you would think she is going to eat it."
Yura had never seen a social but also antisocial pet. The cat had an attitude and it was not hesitant about displaying it. It liked being pampered but only on it’s terms.
"Sit down." Yura pulled Alix down gently and smiled at her softly. "I am not having a housewarming but you brought gifts anyway. I feel like a bad host now because i don’t have any food prepared."
Alix shook her head. "It’s okay mother-in-law, i ate something earlier and i have snacks in my bag."
Yura looked at the bag and laughed. The bag which Chan Ki loved so much because it was filled with goodies. It was also a bag that Alix did not go anywhere without.
"Mother-in-law, i brought you a gift but i don’t know if you will love it....." she said hesitantly.
Yura raised her brows curiously and opened her hands, waiting to receive the gift.
Alix tilted her head and sighed. She turned and opened the bag completely, revealing the two puppies that had been waiting for freedom.
Even then, they peeked out curiously without coming out of the bag completely.
Alix brought the two small puppies out with her hands and then turned and faced her mother-in-law.
"These two, a boy and a girl...err...., male and female i mean."
She had already decided to give one to Jin Kang and the other to Mumu if Yura rejected them. But then, she noticed the indulgent smile on Yura’s face and she knew that this was the best gift indeed.
Caishen had mentioned to her once in passing that one of the happiest memories he had from his childhood was the day his mother took him to a dog park and they played with the small puppies.
That conversation had resulted in Alix asking him why the Zhang’s didn’t raise a dog or two and he told her his grandmother was afraid of dogs.
Since her mother-in-law was not living with the elders anymore, Alix figured Yura could now own things that made her happy as a person.
"Awwww, oh my God, look at those little faces." She crowed and reached her arms out.
Without delay, Alix handed the two puppies over and then proceeded to view her mother-in-law in a brand new light.
Yura spoke to the puppies in baby talk, kissed their furry little heads and tickled their ears and bellies. She forgot all about Alix for a good ten minutes and lavished all of her affection on the dogs.
When she finally looked back at her, she asked, "Do they have names yet?"
"No?" Alix replied.
"Queen and King." Yura said instantaneously.
She noticed the dismayed expression on Alix’s face quickly and shrugged. "If your cat can be named Majesty then my babies can be King and Queen." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Yura got on to her feet, two puppies in her arms. "King, Queen, i bet you are hungry. Don’t worry, mommy will feed you right now. What do you want to eat my cuties, beef, fish, milk, chicken?" She spoke to them in a childish manner as if she was talking to two babies.
"Alix, dear, entertain yourself while i feed my babies." She recalled that Alix had been left behind so she looked back and told her.
"I will help you unpack the rest of the things mother-in-law. I brought feeding bottles, milk and toys for the puppies." Alix replied.
She set out to help, while looking at her watch every once in a while.
Her mother-in-law’s attention was completely taken up by the puppies which freed Alix’s mind up to think about the dragon and death suggestion of the system.
Alix was uncertain if she had it in her to take a human life, even that of someone who probably wanted her dead. Was it something she could carry on her conscience?
