The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse-Chapter 412 - 405: Where the Value Lies
Chapter 412: Chapter 405: Where the Value Lies
This was a type of combat Gao Yuan had never seen, nor experienced before.
The enemy actually possessed decent combat qualities, but still performed poorly once the battle began. However, this was not due to their capabilities, but because the people ambushing them were indeed some of the world’s top soldiers.
Gao Yuan wasn’t quite certain of the Egg Bomb Squad’s strength from Israel, but he knew Israel would certainly choose the best out of the best, selecting the strongest individuals for the mission to save the world. Thus, the Egg Bomb Squad was the strongest in Israel.
There’s no need to mention Signal Flag; it’s one of Russia’s elite special forces. But one has to know, Yuri and his team were the ones selected to support Israel. According to Russian customs, they would definitely choose the most excellent individuals for this arduous and important mission.
So, Yuri and Green Hat are without a doubt among Russia’s best special forces and their members.
Then there was Li Jingang.
Li Jingang was lonely, because he was the only real special operations soldier from Shenzhou. But in reality, he was one of the few selected from Shenzhou’s toughest special forces. Thus, letting Li Jingang represent Shenzhou’s strongest capability was not an issue at all.
Sirte and Klaus had yet to join the fight, but they were about to. The question arises, as core members of the Angel Mercenary Corps, how strong were they?
To say they were industry-leading, the strongest in the world, wouldn’t be an overstatement, would it?
Although they were mercenaries, coming from Germany, the nation that instigated two world wars, participating was not too much, was it?
And there was Ashraf, the veteran from Afghan, who wasn’t from any special forces. But for him to represent Empire Graveyard’s strongest combat power, Gao Yuan certainly had no objections. If a man could use a bolt-action rifle to land all five shots on him, whoever said this old man wasn’t formidable enough, Gao Yuan would be the first to slap him twice.
Joking? Was Gao Yuan someone anyone could hit? If Ashraf could shoot Gao Yuan five times, then he could shoot anyone five times.
And then, there was Gao Yuan, who was more than human.
So it’s not that the Sanitation Workers were weak, but that Spark Squad was too strong. So strong that they used the most luxurious lineup in the world for an ambush on the Sanitation Workers—something the latter should feel honored by.
The battlefield was still chaotic, and the Sanitation Workers had already started to fight back, but their counterattack was not effective.
Moving in flanking maneuvers, Spark Squad’s members, whether official or non-official, had mastered these tactics completely.
The Sanitation Workers could rely on their strong and dense firepower to suppress Spark Squad, making it hard for them to raise their heads. But to expect a rapid casualty toll on Spark Squad was wishful thinking.
At this moment, Gao Yuan had already circled to the rear of the Sanitation Workers from the flank.
Gao Yuan suddenly crouched down, then knelt on one knee. First, he methodically opened his grenade pouch and, after leaving the bag open on the ground, began to observe the enemy in front of him.
The enemy was in disarray; this was inevitable. Some, after dismounting, immediately adopted a kneeling shooting position because lying down would mean the dense grass obstructed their vision.
Others were crawling forward with their rifles because they needed to spread out first, find advantageous positions, then they could start shooting.
If a hundred people were besieging ten, no matter how formidable the besieged were, generally speaking, they would be in bad shape, because the terrain was a flat plain with no cover to take advantage of, allowing the side with more people to fully exploit their firepower advantage.
And now, Sanitation Worker was slowly turning the tide. Two trucks were equipped with machine guns, and being mounted on trucks provided a height advantage. But the reason why Sanitation Worker’s machine guns had not played a decisive role was that anyone who attempted to operate them would surely be taken out with a single shot.
There was no need for a second bullet, it was a guaranteed one-shot kill, and it didn’t matter whether the shooter was Ashraf, Li Jingang, or someone else, because the distance between the two sides was not great, and assault rifles could achieve the same effect.
Finally, Gao Yuan began to throw hand grenades.
Pull the pin, release the lever, throw, pick up another grenade, and repeat the process, that was Gao Yuan’s job.
To unleash the firepower of a mortar platoon single-handedly in a short amount of time, and still maintain basic accuracy at high speeds, was Gao Yuan’s greatest value.
The faster he threw them, naturally, the less accurate they would be, but Gao Yuan still managed to keep a remarkably high degree of precision. When he intended to blast a vehicle, he could land the grenade nearby, and when targeting a dense group of people, he could get it within five meters.
This was already incredibly impressive, and the effect was outstanding.
The enemy was thoroughly dazed by the intense bombardment, disoriented, their morale instantly collapsed the moment the grenades began to explode continuously.
In one minute, Gao Yuan had thrown all forty hand grenades. Such a rate of fire could only be matched by several rocket launchers firing simultaneously.
After throwing all his grenades, Gao Yuan had nothing left to do. He didn’t even have a handgun, and the enemy had no idea the attack was coming from behind them since the greatest advantage of hand grenades was their silent release.
Now, the enemy was utterly confused and in disarray, and Spark Squad was also stunned by these sudden explosions. Judging from the bombardment, it had to be friendly forces, but where were they?
Li Jingang certainly knew what was happening, and so did Ashraf. Therefore, the two of them stood up first, and then Li Jingang whispered into the radio, "Charge! Engage in close-quarters and chaotic combat, our reinforcements have arrived!"
Ralph and Yuri stood up, guns at the ready, charging towards the howling enemy, feeling very bewildered inside. The team members providing covering fire or accompanying the assault were even more perplexed, as they hadn’t heard the radio transmission and still had no clue what was happening.
This was a battle that exceeded the understanding of both friend and foe, so best take advantage of the chaos.
Of course, the Sanitation Workers had a commander, whose responsibility was to respond quickly, to fight or to retreat, a plan had to be made. But right now, the Sanitation Worker’s commander was more baffled than anyone.
What was going on? What exactly was happening? Who to attack, and if retreating, where to retreat?
Fortunately, the commander’s brain hadn’t turned completely to mush. He quickly gave up trying to understand what was happening and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Retreat! Full retreat!"
One truck began to reverse at full speed, but it definitely needed time to accelerate. The Sanitation Worker’s commander grabbed the nearest truck door—the window was completely devoid of glass—and yelled at the driver, "Turn the truck sideways, cover the infantry’s retreat!"
The driver was also panicked, but he nevertheless turned the steering wheel to bring the truck’s body around. Then, as he opened the door to jump out, a bullet hole appeared on his body just as he was leaving the cab, and he fell right beside the door.
