The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse-Chapter 375 - 368 Angel Mad Wolf
Chapter 375: Chapter 368 Angel Mad Wolf
There were too many houses to choose from, Gao Yuan and Ashraf hid in a second-floor room of a half-collapsed house full of excrement; they looked out the window at the convoy rolling in from the south.
The convoy was mainly composed of vehicles, trucks and pickups, but at the lead were several tanks, which were headed straight for the artillery position Gao Yuan had destroyed.
It was clear from their formation that they were friendly forces.
Gao Yuan was both excited and relieved, and when the tanks stopped at the edge of the artillery position and people began jumping out of the trucks, Gao Yuan immediately knew for certain they were friendly forces.
The uniforms were completely different; the enemies they had faced before were wearing U.S. military desert camouflage, but the newcomers were in khaki uniforms, not camouflage. From a distance, the clothing of both armies had pretty effective camouflage in the desert, but upon closer inspection, one could still see the difference.
Ashraf had already tied the sleeve that Gao Yuan had pulled off around the muzzle of his gun. Originally, the shirt was white, now it was hard to say what color it was, but it could still roughly be recognized as white, suitable to act as a white flag.
The first vehicle drove towards the building occupied by Li Yang and his group, and then a bunch of soldiers got out of the vehicle and quickly deployed in an aggressive formation outside the building, followed by the second and third vehicles.
Li Yang and his team were surrounded again, but, this time, no one fired their weapons.
Two off-road vehicles stopped in front of the two-story building. Four soldiers got out of the first vehicle. Gao Yuan looked at them through binoculars and immediately felt reassured.
The four soldiers were dressed in khaki battlesuits, holding HK433 rifles, wearing bulletproof vests, and helmets, quickly setting up in a defensive posture, and two of them aimed their guns in Gao Yuan’s direction.
The door of the second vehicle also opened, and a white man in a T-shirt stepped out.
To appear on a complex battlefield in just a T-shirt, especially an army green one, with camouflage pants and a khaki tactical belt, a pistol hanging on the left side, and wearing sunglasses, such an appearance meant you’re either an officer, a madman, or an idiot.
But after the sunglass-wearing man got out of the vehicle, he turned his head around to look, then fixed his gaze where Gao Yuan and Ashraf were hiding, waved his hand, pointed in the direction of Gao Yuan, and two soldiers immediately ran up to him and aimed their guns at Gao Yuan’s location.
Gao Yuan hadn’t made a move, but Ashraf immediately pulled Gao Yuan back behind the wall. Then, he silently extended his rifle out of the window, waving the white flag tied to the gun muzzle.
Gao Yuan couldn’t help it; he looked out again and saw that the two soldiers were still aiming at him but had not fired.
The man in the short-sleeve T-shirt with sunglasses, however, was dusting his chest with both hands as if brushing off the dust from his shirt.
A person in a neat military officer’s uniform stood next to the man in the T-shirt, and then the T-shirt man walked directly towards the house occupied by Li Yang and his group.
His steps were light, but in Gao Yuan’s eyes, the man in the T-shirt was just arrogant.
Seeing that person enter the building, Gao Yuan let out a soft sigh and said into the walkie-talkie, "The man has gone in; how is it, have you guys talked?"
Li Yang responded with surprise, "No, no one spoke to us, dammit, someone really came in!"
No greeting to Li Yang and his team before entering? This T-shirt guy was just too damn arrogant.
Just a moment later, Li Yang’s voice rang out, unable to hide his excitement, "Captain, they’re friendly forces; you can come over now."
Gao Yuan took a breath, drew back behind the wall, and said to Ashraf, "That’s enough, no need to wave the white flag anymore, this, how do I say it, feels so awkward, doesn’t it?"
Gao Yuan looked at himself, not too bad; apart from being a bit dirty and messy, he still looked human.
Gao Yuan took off his helmet, patted the dirt out of his hair, but soon gave up on trying to clean his hair completely. He then took off his weapons harness and bulletproof vest, straightened out his camouflage suit as much as he could, adjusted the position of the short knife hanging at his waist, and then said to Ashraf, "Look after my stuff; I’m going to meet... our friendly forces."
Ashraf didn’t understand, but that was okay; he got the idea.
When Gao Yuan jumped directly out of the window, he saw more off-road vehicles stopping, and then several soldiers wearing camouflage but carrying stretchers and medical kits on their backs rushed into the building where Li Yang and his group were.
Gao Yuan was momentarily taken aback, then couldn’t hide his surprise; at last, medical help had arrived.
Gao Yuan started walking forward, and the two soldiers who had been aiming their guns lowered them. They observed Gao Yuan but made no move, just watched him.
Removing a bulletproof vest on the battlefield is indeed not a wise decision, but Gao Yuan just didn’t want to meet with the allied forces’ oddly flamboyant guy fully geared up like a bound prisoner.
There was no reason, he just couldn’t stand it.
Gao Yuan walked forward, the few hundred meters were a bit long, and if he didn’t run, it would take him several minutes. At that moment, he saw the man in the T-shirt come out again, accompanied by a person in an officer’s uniform, and then, a familiar figure came out as well.
Although the distance was far and he couldn’t see clearly, Gao Yuan recognized at first glance that it was Li Jingang.
Gao Yuan raised his arms, then lowered them, raised them again, then let them fall, after twice thinking about running and then deciding against it, he couldn’t resist the urge to run over so he raised his arms once more and sped towards them.
Gao Yuan was holding back his speed, but still ran with the velocity of a mad sprint until he reached Li Jingang.
"Are you okay? How’s everyone else?"
Gao Yuan supported Li Jingang with one hand because Li Jingang was covered in blood.
Li Jingang shook his head and said in a low voice, "I’m fine, Doggie wasn’t hurt, the blood is all someone else’s... cough cough, Captain, this is..."
Gao Yuan first greeted Li Jingang, showing that he came running over because he was concerned about his own people and it had nothing to do with anyone else.
Of course, that was exactly why Gao Yuan had run over.
Just as Li Jingang was about to make the introduction, Gao Yuan finally turned to look at the man in the T-shirt.
The man in the T-shirt smiled faintly at Gao Yuan, then removed his sunglasses with his left hand.
Blond hair, green eyes, a smile on his face but a resolute expression, dressed in the simplest attire yet exuding a luxury fashion brand vibe, in his forties or fifties still dashingly handsome enough to make others feel inferior, along with a military officer’s demeanor. Especially when a few people stood next to him, even without saying anything else, it was definitely an image that matched the conception of an officer in the minds of women, though it wasn’t what an actual officer should look like.
Compared to Li Jingang, who was bloody, bedraggled, and dirty, the contrast was like between a model and a beggar.
As for comparing with Gao Yuan, who had just crawled out of the dirt, well, Gao Yuan didn’t want to compare.
And that faint smile, that condescending look...
Wait! That look was too irritating!
Gao Yuan could feel his irritation from a few hundred meters away, and when he got up close, standing opposite the man and seeing that bone-deep arrogance, Gao Yuan finally realized that this man was even more annoying up close.
But the man, who at first glance made him feel uncomfortable, was after all an ally, and moreover, he had saved Li Yang and everyone else. Considering this, Gao Yuan could only sigh softly and let go of the urge to compete in appearance.
With his right hand, he curled up his ring and little fingers, touching his forehead with his index and middle fingers, the man with the awkward smile said, "Angel Mercenary Corps, Mad Wolf, Nate Schumacher."
Li Jingang didn’t translate because there was no need. Nate Schumacher had spoken in Chinese.
Gao Yuan saluted seriously and said, "Commander of Spark Squad of Shenzhou, Gao Yuan, pleased to meet you."
Nate Schumacher’s hand that was halfway extended paused. He stared at Gao Yuan for a moment; although Gao Yuan didn’t know why he hesitated, Nate Schumacher just did.
And it was in that brief moment of hesitation that Nate Schumacher’s aloof demeanor disappeared without a trace, the condescending look in his eyes vanished, leaving only surprise and seemingly a bit of annoyance.
But it was only for a brief moment; Nate Schumacher smiled again, everything went back to normal, and then he stretched out his hand again.
Gao Yuan reached out and shook it.
After a formal shake, Nate Schumacher said with a smile that suggested he was welcoming a subordinate, "Hello, pleased to meet you, what a coincidence that you also have the surname Gao."
