The Sweetness of the Seventies-Chapter 950 - 919: Everybody’s Happy
Chapter 950: Chapter 919: Everybody’s Happy
When they heard that Song Chunli and Zhao Huanhuan were coming, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie personally came out to greet them.
"Auntie, it’s so late, it must have been tough for you to come all this way," He Tiantian said gratefully, presuming they had come because of her situation.
Song Chunli had a full smile on her face. After sitting down, she took out a kraft paper bag from her purse and said, "Yingjie, Tiantian, all the certificates you need are in here. I’ve already been to the office of Director Wang from the sub-district office. She had you registered before she left work today, certifying that you were pregnant before the planned birth policy was implemented. With these, you can now rest at home in peace and no longer need to hide."
"Thank you, Auntie, and Sister-in-law. I really can’t thank you enough," He Tiantian said with gratitude. "Yingjie and I, two dummies, couldn’t think of such a good method. You’re amazing, Auntie."
"Oh, it’s nothing," laughed Song Chunli. "By the way, according to the certificates, you’re already three months pregnant and should be showing by now, but in reality, you’re just over a month along, so it’s still best to go out less and rest at home."
"I’ll remember that, Auntie, Sister-in-law," He Tiantian replied. Staying at home was certainly better than hiding out in a Taoist temple.
Thinking back, He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie’s previous approach seemed somewhat misguided!
Seeing it was getting late and their business was done, Song Chunli said with a smile, "Tiantian, Yingjie, it’s getting dark, your sister-in-law and I will head back now. You both should rest early."
"We have rooms at home. Why don’t you and Sister-in-law stay with us tonight and head back tomorrow?" He Tiantian suggested, knowing they wouldn’t stay, but still offering the invitation.
"No need, we have two kids at home, and there’s work tomorrow," Zhao Huanhuan replied. "Besides, the old mansion isn’t far from here, and we drove, so the dark won’t bother us."
"Alright then, Auntie, Sister-in-law, please be safe on the road," He Tiantian said with a smile. "This weekend, Yingjie and I will bring the kids over to the old mansion to visit everyone."
"Sure, you can come anytime," Song Chunli said with a laugh, her heart filled with joy.
Song Chunli could sense that this time He Tiantian’s attitude towards her was much better and more heartfelt than before.
Huo Yingjie and He Tiantian personally saw off Song Chunli and Zhao Huanhuan.
Back inside the house, upon seeing the stack of certificates, He Tiantian finally felt relieved.
Indeed, the family planning office from the sub-district office stopped sending notices for gynecological exams and IUD insertions, and He Tiantian could peacefully rest at home for the pregnancy.
Since they were not actually three months along yet, they decided not to tell others, merely saying she wasn’t feeling well and was resting at home.
Qi Xiaoyan, Qi Zhengmin, and Jiang Wenwen, thinking that He Tiantian was genuinely feeling unwell, came to visit.
They noticed He Tiantian looked very well, and she even seemed to have gained some weight.
"Sister Tiantian, are you pregnant?" Qi Xiaoyan asked. With her understanding of Sister Tiantian, this simply wasn’t just feeling unwell!
The other three also fixed their gaze on He Tiantian.
Seeing she couldn’t hide it any longer, He Tiantian smiled sheepishly and said, "Now that you know, just keep it to yourselves and don’t talk about it outside."
"We won’t tell, we won’t tell," Qi Xiaoyan nodded. "How far along are you?"
"A month and a half, but the documents say nearly three months. That’s all you need to know; please don’t tell anyone else," He Tiantian instructed. "It’s a critical time now, so you all can’t cause any fuss for me."
"Cousin, don’t worry," Jiang Wenwen said. "I won’t tell anyone about this until the baby is born."
Not understanding the situation, Qi Zhengmin asked, "Isn’t being pregnant a good thing? Why do you all seem so scared, as if it could cause big trouble?"
Qi Zhengmin wasn’t familiar with the domestic situation, which was understandable.
Overseas, there wasn’t a policy like the one-child policy. Perhaps, they even encouraged having more children!
"Starting this year, Huaxia Country has implemented the one-child policy. Couples who already have a child cannot have another. Couples without children can only have one child, and second pregnancies are not allowed," He Tiantian explained. "This policy was introduced to control the rapid population growth in Huaxia Country."
"I see," Qi Zhengmin nodded. "Although I don’t agree with it, I understand. This little one sure has impeccable timing!"
"Exactly, which is why I quit my job," He Tiantian said. "Now, I’m hiding at home to take care of the pregnancy. If you need anything, you can come over. I won’t be going out until after the baby is born."
"Alright," Qi Zhengmin replied. "My brother has put me in charge of sales in Yanjing and national promotion. Tang Qian and I will handle things here, so you don’t need to worry."
Tang Qian?
That was exactly what she was worried about!
He Tiantian smiled wryly to herself, but she also understood that some things couldn’t be stopped by her alone. Everything still depended on Qi Zhengmin.
At noon, the four sisters ate together and chatted. They left in the afternoon, planning to throw a celebratory party for He Tiantian after three months.
And so, He Tiantian spent her days at home reading books and looking over the accounts.
Wherever there was a need to consult with He Tiantian, Niu Dajun, Li Yunfeng, Jiang Wenwen, and Qi Xiaoyan would come over to discuss with her.
On weekends, she would visit the Huo Family Old Mansion.
In appreciation of Song Chunli’s kindness, He Tiantian selected a black shoulder bag for her out of the things her mother had sent and gave Zhao Huanhuan a peach-red shoulder bag.
Because of the one-child policy, He Tiantian’s relationship with Song Chunli and Zhao Huanhuan had improved from before.
He Tiantian would share any interesting items she got with them.
He Tiantian even had Jiang Wenwen design clothes personally for Song Chunli, perfectly paired with the bags He Tiantian had given her, making her the image of a dignified and elegant lady.
Song Chunli was even more pleased. With money in hand, life was even more enjoyable.
Old Madam Huo was also very happy, as the family being harmonious brought her great joy.
When Qi Zhengmin returned to Nan City from a business trip, he discreetly met with Huo Zhekun in a government office.
"Uncle Huo, I have good news for you," smiled Qi Zhengmin, the epitome of a well-mannered younger generation in front of Huo Zhekun.
"Heh, your brother already told me — five sales outlets across the country sold a total of two thousand cars, and over three thousand vehicles have been pre-ordered. It’s an instant hit in the domestic market," Huo Zhekun said with a laugh, proud of this achievement he had facilitated.
The more cars sold, the more impressive his political accomplishments.
"Not that," said Qi Zhengmin with a laugh. "My brother can discuss that with you. The news I have is about private matters."
"Oh? Private matters?" Huo Zhekun became curious. "Go on, tell me so I can be happy too."
