The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 307: Entrust
Chapter 307: Entrust
The ring’s design was simple, with engraved small diamonds at the center. And yet, its simplicity made it more beautiful in Arren’s eyes. He was aware that when Spade had prepared this ring, he thought of Arren’s preference the most.
The two then didn’t suppress their desires any longer and embraced each other. Their hearts on their chests beat on the same rhythm; it was both fast, but the happiness they radiated also affected their pheromones, which were now temporarily mixed.
It calmed Arren’s heart, and at the same time, it gave him all the more confidence for their future. This happiness... Arren would fight for it. No one could ever take it from them this time.
They didn’t stay in the Treasury for long. They also left the crown in that same position, and when he asked if they needed to bring it back to its original position, Spade only told him that once the key was inserted on the crown and it became whole once more, that always meant that a new owner had appeared.
The empire’s tradition was as such, and this was also the reason that the Duke was shocked when he saw the key, as he could recognize it. Unlike the ignorant Arren, Duke Evan was familiar with the Empire tradition.
Unlike most households, the royal family didn’t have the so-called heirloom engagement or wedding rings but this key instead.
Even the late emperor gave the same key to Liviera, and they did the same thing, but the difference was that it often happened at an engagement party.
In history, it seemed only Spade and Arren did this tradition inside the royal treasury.
With joy surrouding the two, they became much clingier than before they entered here. In Arren’s ring finger on his left hand was the sparkling ring. Somehow, he couldn’t help but trail on them as though confirming if it was still there.
And Spade would grasp his hand as they looked at each other before smiling. It was truly... so intimate and cute.
Arren dragged Spade into his father’s room. While it was fine for him if their engagement were not known to so many people, he still wanted to let his father know all the important events of his life.
Looking at how excited he was, Spade, who was about to say something to him, hesitated and decided not to let Arren know. Since he was about to find out what it was once they met the Duke.
As Spade expected, when they entered the room, Arren smiled sheepishly at his dad and ambigously hinted at something.
"Dad, guess what?" Aren grinned; the flush in his cheeks had not faded, and the warmth of his finger was still there.
His heart was as though about to explode if he didn’t tell this news to anyone he knew.
Something was strange, though; his father didn’t show any signs of curiosity but instead a knowing look. Sure enough, what he said dumbfounded Arren.
"You’re about to get married." The Duke guessed somehow casually without any kind of suspense as if he already knew it beforehand.
Arren’s jaw dropped, his excitement faded, and he was replaced with astonishment.
"How did you know?"
The Duke glanced at Spade, who turned his face to the side, not wanting for Arren’s attention to shift on him, but it was too late since Arren noticed this gaze from his dad.
"Spade?" He called, strict. "Do you know something?"
Spade’s eyelids twitched and pulled Arren to his body, coaxing the omega.
"I was about to tell you, but..."
"So... You do know something."
Spade sighed, and of course, he had to appease his omega, and he told him about the significance of what they did.
As an empire tradition that spanned for centuries, of course, something of a grand scale would happen after the empress was chosen. Usually, this kind of event is held at a banquet.
There was an added mechanism on the crown’s case in which, after the ceremony was complete and the missing piece was merged once more, something would be triggered, which was the ringing of the bell at the bell tower next to the main palace.
It signified the coming marriage of the emperor and his empress. As this was a grand occasion, all of the empire needed to know about it.
Arren listened to Spade intently, his eyes blinking slowly.
"So... that bell earlier?"
"Yes."
Arren fell silent. So, contrary to his expectations, their engagement wasn’t such a small affair after all, even without a grand banquet. The whole empire was aware of it or is now notified about it.
"Are you... mad at me?" Spade cautiously inquired.
At their side was the Duke, who was only watching them with an obvious smile in his eyes. When he heard that bell earlier, he was also shocked for a moment, but not for long since he knew that his son and Spade would eventually walk in that direction. It was only a matter of when.
Still, as a father, his emotions weren’t that calm either, as he wanted all the best for his son, marriage wasn’t always an easy thing, and he also worried for Arren’s future as the empress. Considering Arren was really... not the ideal noble empress the citizens envisioned.
And now that he was watching Arren and Spade, how the emperor was obviously so in love with his son. His worries eased in an instant. The Duke was confident even more that the Emperor would treat his son right, regardless of the citizens’ impression of him.
Arren wanted to tease Spade and act as if he were angry, but he decided not to. This was a special day, and they had to celebrate!
He quickly shook his head but pouted.
"Why would I be angry that everyone now knows we are going to get married?" Arren assured him and then looked at his father as he approached him on the bed, his hand dragging Spade along.
This position was a bit comical, but the Duke felt he was intruding or something, which was really an unknown but satisfying feeling nonetheless.
"I’m only sad since I want to surprise you, Dad, but you already know."
The Duke knew as much and laughed, patting his son’s head. His heart was obviously content at this moment.
"I’m happy for you, son." Then he looked at the spade, and for once, he treated him not as an emperor but as his son-in-law. "Please take good care of my son."
Spade felt the sincere feelings of the Duke, and like the Duke, Spade treated him not as the Duke Evan Katz of the empire and his subject but as his father-in-law, as he bowed deeply, holding Aren’s hand tightly.
He didn’t answer, but that deep bow was more than enough.
