The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 291: Start Of Change (1)
Chapter 291: Start Of Change (1)
Arren was right; aside from Spade almost losing himself to rage, the Duke also fell into the same situation. As a father, hearing his precious son be abducted by the same organization he loathed was enough for him to collapse right there and then.
What was more unforgivable for him was that he happened to arrive outside of the palace. The sounds of gunshots were what made him stop at the front gate, and when he heard what was happening, the Duke wanted to run inside but was stopped.
Duke Evan then lost his noble grace as he cursed in rage at all his personal and royal guards who were stopping him from checking for his son. After all, he was still an alpha; even with his age, he was still strong enough to resist them.
There was a lot surrounding him, to the point that his reason left him; he could only think of his precious son inside the palace. However, when he heard of Arren’s disappearance, all his strength vanished, and he collapsed from shock.
This was the reason Spade had not met the Duke, as the latter was also under the supervision of the doctors.
Going back to Arren and Spade, after recovering slightly despite the tears in his eyes, Arren began to recount what happened. In fact, in times like this, even with so many thoughts racing through Arren’s mind, he needed to focus on the matter at hand.
They couldn’t afford to delay it any longer; it was fortunate enough that he met Auntie Mildred, or else he was still wandering this time in the streets. Arren wouldn’t waste it.
Arren then spoke of his location, which was in the Kingdom Of West, he also mentioned the city and the place he was in. Although Arren didn’t know the exact address of where he was, he could inform the alpha again after he asked Auntie Mildred.
"I met a good auntie... She let me borrow her phone so that I could contact you." Arren’s emotion had stabilized somewhat, so his voice wasn’t trembling any longer.
The alpha intently listened to him, and he appeared to want to hear Arren’s voice.
[I want to meet and thank her personally.]
Arren nodded his head and fell silent, his mind suddenly becoming at ease after talking with his alpha.
"My... father. How is he?" Arren was so concerned about this as well. He was well aware of how much his father loved him, so he was worried that something had happened to his dad because of this news.
He heard the alpha’s sigh on the other end, prompting Arren’s reaction to sink.
[He fainted after knowing what happened. But I’m making sure his condition is supervised and your father is not in a bad state; he only needs rest.]
Spade’s voice also appeared to have recovered; at least it wasn’t so low or so out of it. Arren was also not sure, as he couldn’t see the alpha directly.
"What about you?" Arren suddenly blurted as he wanted to know. "Did you properly rest?"
Arren asked this even though he was aware of the answer.
Spade paused, his breathing on the line turning heavy.
[How can I rest?]
Arren shut his eyes, tears falling from the corners of his eyes to his cheeks. He knew as much. It seemed they returned to the same scenario that happened a lot of times.
Spade must be resenting himself. He must be feeling guilty at this moment, and honestly, Arren didn’t know how to assure the alpha. He could say it in words, but without them being together, Spade’s feelings could never be reassured. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
So, he stayed silent and said something.
"I’ll wait for you," Arren mumbled, his voice soft and filled with confidence.
Now that the alpha already knew where he was, Arren was confident that Spade would come to take him.
Their phone call wasn’t much of a reunion; it was as though they were holding back. Even if they vented their emotions earlier, that wasn’t simply enough. Only in each other’s embrace would it count as a reunion.
Spade, on the other end of the line, clenched his trembling fist as he leaned weakly on his seat. Similarly to Arren, his eyes were shut, but the furrow of his brow had eased significantly compared to when he first woke up in his dream.
"I’ll come... wherever you are," he muttered before the call ended.
As much as they wanted to talk, the matter at hand was still of utmost importance. Spade could not let this opportunity pass.
A change in history’s trajectory. No. Spade shook his head and opened his eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling.
This life... was entirely different. And Spade would make sure it stayed that way.
"Serrien," he called, the alpha then approaching him. Ever since he woke up, Spade had already made his way to his study without even resting.
The doctors and his subordinates were trying to convince him to at least rest, but Spade could never rest, especially after those memories returned to him.
He wanted to plan and use the memories he had to his advantage. And especially made use of it to narrow the places to find Arren.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Spade’s eyes glimmered slightly and he turned to look at Serrien. The emotion he had after hearing Arren’s voice disappeared and was replaced by a vicious one.
"It’s time to hunt," Spade mumbled in a calm voice, but the thick killing intent surrounding him made Serrien stop his breathing for a moment.
The pheromones surrounding the whole room were even more dangerous than they had ever been.
Spade was forced into a passive situation, but that would change from this moment on.
"Ready our troops; we’re going to meet Arren."
Before that revenge, Spade’s priority would be Arren’s safety. He would start in the Kingdom Of West.
Meanwhile, Arren, who was still looking at the phone even after the call ended, wore a slightly unsatisfied expression. He still wanted to hear Spade’s voice, but he wasn’t that unreasonable.
Now that the alpha already knew his whereabouts, Spade would definitely move immediately. Arren sucked his breath and finally heaved a sigh of relief.
Although the danger had not yet disappeared, unless they completely took down the organization, it was enough for Arren to be reassured that his alpha was coming to fetch him.
Preventing what happened in the last life’s history was enough.
When Arren entered the room, Auntie Mildred was not there anymore, so he could only hold on to the phone for now and make his way to the couch to sleep.
Auntie Mildred had said it was fine to sleep in a room, but he refused. Arren was already grateful to take shelter, and he didn’t want to inconvenience her more.
It was better for the kids to sleep inside their rooms. If he would sleep in one, some kids would be forced to sleep here instead. After all, the house wasn’t that big, and there were only three small rooms, with one being Auntie Mildred’s and Ivanna’s room, which she offered to him first.
The couch wasn’t too soft, but it wasn’t sturdy enough that Arren would have a hard time sleeping. This was better than sleeping on the streets like he initially intended.
Clutching the phone in his chest, Arren fell into a sleep. His sleep might not be as peaceful, but it at least rests his tense mind. Another day had passed once more.
The next day, he was woken up by the kids as they woke up one by one. He could even faintly hear Auntie Mildred’s voice reminding the kids not to make a noise, but kids were kids after all.
Arren opened his eyes, and he made eye contact with Ivanna’s curious eyes. He blinked and then smiled at her cute face.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Arren’s voice had only woken up, so his voice was slightly hoarse.
Ivanna cutely stared at him intently.
"Smelly brother... You look like someone I know." She even pointed at him with interested eyes.
Arren coughed slightly at that term and sat up. He forced himself not to pinch those squishy cheeks for calling him a smelly brother.
"Uh, who?" Instead, he decided to go along with her, but of course, he also raised the issue of the nickname.
Although Arren hardly cares about anything, being called smelly was... not a good feeling. Still, she was so cute, so Arren forgave her for calling him that.
"Ivanna, can you not, uhm, call me that nickname?"
Ivanna tilted her head. "Nickname?"
Arren bit his lips and cleared his throat. "That, smelly brother..."
Ivanna nodded in understanding, then spoke in her little voice. "But I don’t know your name..."
She made sense.
Arren stared at her and contemplated whether to tell her his name. However, considering she was a child and Arren’s position was still in danger, he didn’t want to make it harder for them.
He couldn’t trust that a kid would be able to hide a secret. As cute as she was, Arren didn’t want to be persuaded.
"Well... You can call me just brother," he consented.
"Why doesn’t brother want to say his name?" Ivanna’s curiosity was piqued.
Arren was again in the hard place, but he chose to change the subject. A kid’s curiosity was easy to earn but also easier to divert.
"Brother will tell you someday. But, didn’t you say I look like someone you know? Who is it?" Arren returned the conversation to their earlier topic.
At this question, Ivanna’s eyes lit up, and she even clapped her hand.
"Right, brother. You look like the beautiful empress!" Ivanna’s eyes were filled with admiration.
"Beautiful empress?" Arren was confused this time.
Ivanna became excited, as though she wanted to let Arren know of her object of admiration.
"The beautiful empress! The one with His Majesty Emperor," she said enthusiastically. "I saw him on TV, and Mommy Mildred said that he is to be the empress."
Arren finally knew who she was talking about. Of course, it was him.
