The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra-Chapter 251: Life On Line (5)
Chapter 251: Life On Line (5)
The royal attendants that were with him served the food as Arren greeted the empress. As usual, Liviera was wearing a rather elegant royal suit, even though he was only inside his room.
His demeanor was still full of noble grace; no one would suspect that he was actually under house arrest. They often interacted these days, but Arren admitted he was still intimidated sometimes by the Empress.
"Your Majesty," Arren saluted with a small smile.
Liviera gently smiled at him and held his hand. "When will you call me, Royal Mother?" As usual, the empress would tease him whenever he greeted him like this.
Arren’s face flushed as he smiled humbly, but he didn’t respond. The empress was also used to it already, so he didn’t pursue this matter anymore.
"Okay then, let’’s eat. I’m looking forward to what dish you prepare this time."
Soon, they were already at the table. Liviera’s cousin was standing behind him while the two royal attendants stood at the side. While most of the time they only ate quietly, there were also times that they would talk about some things.
But they never really talked about the ongoing war or Spade. At first, Arren thought the empress would take the initiative to ask about the war or the situation outside, but he never brought up this matter.
He only realized that while the empress was indeed under house arrest, Spade didn’t really limit his freedom inside, only that he could ever leave the palace as his protection.
So, Liviera mostly knew or might have been informed about what was happening. Arren never brought up anything, and they proceeded to eat peacefully.
To his surprise, halfway through their lunch, someone broke their silence.
Arren frowned upon hearing some commotion outside. Who dared be presumptuous outside the room of the Empress? He returned his gaze to the empress and saw him signaling at his cousin, who immediately complied, and they made eye contact.
Empress Liviera’s brow was already knitted, as there was a disapproving frown on his lips. Arren knew that although he seemed gentle and kind, the empress was very strict with etiquette, not only for himself but for every servant and guard in the palace.
"What is going on?" Arren heard the empress’s personal attendant, who was also his cousin, shout outside; she also walked in the direction of the door.
Arren and the empress watched her and the door, curious as to what was happening. As he waited, the hidden uneasiness inside Arren’s heart suddenly erupted, and his heartbeat increased.
For some reason, he had a bad feeling about this. No, this feeling grew intense with each passing second. Subconsciously, Arren had already clutched the edge of his seat.
A few seconds later, under their gaze, she slowly opened the door. There was an extreme uneasiness that enveloped the room. Once the door opened, the empress’ cousin let out a surprised and scared shout.
Not only her, but the two other attendants inside also screamed in fright. Although they didn’t scream, Arren and Empress Liviera turned pale in an instant.
The body of the bloody royal guard collapsed to the ground with a thud. This was someone that Arren often met whenever he visited the empress, so to see his dead body on the ground was quite a terrible experience.
The door was already opened wide at this point, and aside from the bloody body of the royal guard on the floor inside the room, they could also see another royal guard lying on the ground outside. Their bodies painted the marbled floor with crimson.
A few seconds had passed, and no one could utter a word inside; only fear engulfed them.
"Who?" An angry roar shattered the silence; this came from the Mother Empress. Arren also woke up from this shout and blinked his eyes. What he witnessed made his mind go blank, and blood rushed out of his face.
This... What was happening? Arren couldn’t understand. Those royal guards, who... killed them?
Arren bit his lips; his hand was shaking from anxiety and fear. His questions weren’t left unanswered for too long. A noble and sweet voice, somehow with a hint of the playful tone of a woman, reverberated.
Soon, her face was revealed.
"Long time no see, brother-in-law. And... lovely Arren." There was a smile on her lips, her eyes sparkling brightly as though the bloody scene were not there but a garden full of beautiful roses instead.
Seeing her, Arren’s lips trembled. No, his whole body shook in fear. Princess Noreen... he uttered inside.

The offensive had not started, but it wouldn’t be long before then. Spade had now arrived in the military barracks, and he was welcomed by the commander and military officers.
"Let’s get inside." Spade didn’t let them greet him formally, but he went straight to the point. There was some kind of tension inside the tent, but upon his arrival, it lessened significantly.
There was an important matter at hand, and he didn’t need any ceremony. Just before he arrived, there was another news from the front lines. It seemed the organization also went all out this time, as their forces also gathered and filled inside.
He sat in the commander’s seat, which was now reserved for him, and looked at the battle map that was spread on the table. The military officers stood as they encircled the table.
"What is the situation now?" Spade asked, leaning on his seat and listened.
A short meeting was conducted with him for a few minutes. He didn’t say anything at all and only trusted his subordinates, especially the commander of this frontier, as a recognition of the monarch to his army commander.
After the meeting, some dispersed and went to their duties or positions, while a few, including the commander, remained inside the tent with Spade.
Spade tapped on the table with his index finger as he frowned, looking at the battle map and the plans on the table. He was silent, so no one dared to make a sound inside, only waiting for his command.
He didn’t know, but he was suddenly feeling uneasy. When he looked at the plan or heard the reports, he didn’t find anything that might evoke this feeling inside of him.
Spade continued to tap at the table, and at his action, the people inside began to be nervous. With his demeanor, they almost thought the monarch was dissatisfied with something.
Soon, he furrowed his brows and raised his head as he looked at Serrien.
"Is everything in the capital still alright?" he asked. Then he added, "or the palace." He decided to be specific.
His lips went into a thin line, and he waited. Spade knew that if it was not about the frontlines, perhaps it was about the capital. Although he was hoping that it was not the case, Spade truly hoped so.
Serrien nodded and proceeded to call the specific personnel, it didn’t take longer, and he already knew the situation.
"Your Majesty, the capital is still in a normal situation, as is the palace. They said they will patrol actively and will report immediately if something happens," he informed.
He heaved and sighed in relief. However, he was still frowning and not completely at ease. Spade didn’t know why that was the case.
Perhaps because it’s been a while since I left the capital? Spade thought of this possibility.
