The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss-Chapter 280: Broken Arc
Chapter 280: Broken Arc
I’m standing in front of the classroom, it’s my scheduled time and the saint is already inside waiting for me, I’m just a little nervous to see Delphina, is she really mad?
Or maybe she won’t care much that I’ve kind of pushed her to the background in an obvious way.
I ended up choosing to give the sacred magic class today since the saint is here and I want to learn more about this magic, so I can use the classes to learn what I need.
"..." I quickly enter the classroom, looking at the students and searching for Delphina, who quickly stands out as she’s sitting in one of the front chairs in a prominent position next to an elf.
"..." Delphina looks at me with a cold face, but her gaze doesn’t lie, she’s extremely irritated, the color of her emotions is a very dark crimson.
’Shit...’ I think I have to calm her down later, for now I shouldn’t show obvious favoritism.
’So that’s the elf princess’ I look at the elf next to Delphina, she has blue eyes and silver hair, her pointed ears are a highlight on her face and she seems much younger than what I think is her real age.
She doesn’t have a very voluptuous body, she seems like a teenager around 15 years old, which is natural given that she’s an elf and this race has a slow aging process.
Especially because she’s not just a normal elf, but a member of the royalty, from the name I’ve seen, her name is Elariel Sylmira and she’s an elf with 598 years, which is apparently very young for her race.
She looks at me with a certain disdain, but I’m used to being looked at that way in general.
"..." When Delphina realizes I’m looking too much at the elf, she seems to get even more irritated, maybe thinking I’m ignoring her presence, which makes me look at the saint.
"Rosaline, I’ll let you lead this class, the topic will be about sacred magic, preferably different magics to use." I say as I go to the desk, sitting in the chair and taking two previously prepared books.
I hand one to the Saint and keep the other to accompany the reading and learn more on the topic from her.
"O-Okay..." Rosaline speaks without questioning me too much while looking at the class, she starts explaining the general fundamentals, but I already know that, so I just ignore her and read the book.
"Hey! I refuse to listen to this boring class if she who is our teacher isn’t going to do anything" I hear a voice, a bit too shrill and annoying that I quickly recognize as the elf princess.
"..."
’Tsk... I see she’s just a spoiled brat’ She seems to be the arrogant and proud type, a bit natural for royalty, but she should know she can’t just talk like that and interrupt the class.
"And what would be the problem?" I question her.
"Not only have you been absent for almost a week without classes, now you’re not even actively participating, leaving all the work to the saint, you shouldn’t be a teacher, don’t you think?"
"After all, what could a human who hasn’t even finished the academy teach us?" She speaks, citing how I only studied last year and am now a teacher.
"Honestly, I fear my education will be harmed by you, who seems to have as much interest in teaching us as someone can have in watching paint dry..." She speaks coldly to me.
"I think for a race that only serves as our slaves, you talk too much," I say arrogantly, making the room go silent while the saint looks at me as if I’m crazy.
"..." The Elf Princess looks at me with rage, a lot of rage, for me insulting her race in this way.
"Y-You insolent! How dare you speak like that to a princess like me and..."
"You’re not a princess inside the academy, here you’re just a student like everyone else and you should know that," I say, assessing the elf’s strength and being a bit surprised.
’She’s strong... really strong’ Nothing exaggerated, but she’s still extremely strong compared to the average power I’m used to, in a 1v1 she would probably defeat all the students in this room if they didn’t use unique abilities, except for Delphina who is a goddess and would kill her in one blow.
"That doesn’t matter now, you insulted my entire race, take back what you said! The elves would never help humans unless it was a necessity."
"You talk as if it was a necessity for us, but we don’t need the help of the elves," I say to her with disdain, putting the book on the desk and staring at her.
"Your race probably only accepted this little alliance because they saw that now all the beastmen are the property of the Demon King and they fear the same might happen to them."
"Why do you think your race only ends up as slaves just like the beastmen? Because they are weak, the only advantage they have is when they fight on their own territory."
"But outside the forests, you’re completely useless," I provoke her, and her response is to do something with her hand while a large bow appears, from what I’ve heard, they gave this to the princess in exchange for the elves sending her to the academy.
An elven artifact of great power, but it’s a lot of audacity and pride for her to point this fragile thing at me.
"Are you pointing a weapon at your teacher? Don’t you fear the consequences?" I say to her without a hint of nervousness.
"Take back what you said now, for the honor of my race I will never accept your filthy words," She speaks as I notice that elves seem to have a great disdain for humans.
"Then shoot, shoot that arrow, but if it doesn’t kill me, I believe you will regret it." No student does anything, they just stay quiet and step away from the elf because they know what I do with troublemakers.
"Great, your life will serve as an apology for your insults," She speaks, pulling an arrow that appears and adjusting the bow, I just stand there.
"So let’s do it this way, Elariel Sylmira, if I’m not harmed by your attack, I’ll keep this bow for myself due to your disobedience and challenge to an authority."
"Basically a bet, if I’m not injured, you have to give me the bow and continue at the academy as agreed."
"But if you hurt me, everything will remain normal and if you kill me, there will be no punishment for you," I say with absolute certainty that I won’t even be injured by this.
"I accept, I swear in the name of my family, so regret your words in hell," She releases the bow’s string, an arrow imbued with a lot of mana is fired at extreme speed.
The curious thing is that even though she’s fast and strong, she’s completely silent and doesn’t even alter the flow of the wind in the environment.
She has talent for killing opponents without them even noticing what hit them, but unfortunately for her, I’m the Demon King, and something like that is slow, very slow.
I simply grab the arrow with my hand, catching the shaft and stopping the blow easily, it didn’t even damage my mana armor, it lacks destructive power, although it had great penetration power.
If the tip had hit me, it could have scratched my mana armor and maybe even open a simple hole.
"Are you satisfied? You lost, and as you swore in the name of your family, this bow is now mine," I say to her, who has a shocked look on her face, while the heroes and the saint don’t seem surprised at all.
"Lies... This is a national treasure! It’s impossible for you to hold it with your hands and not get hurt! What trick did you do..."
I appear in front of her, snatching her bow from her hands.
"What I did is simple, I moved my hand and caught your attack because you’re weak, very weak," I held back sword attacks made by Mikael, there’s no way a weak attack like this would hurt me.
"You must be around Rank A, but I can easily hold back Rank S attacks, something that only has the level of a Grade 8 or 9 weapon could never do much against me."
In the end, this bow seems to be Grade 8.
"Don’t forget, a weapon is just a support for you, someone weak with a strong weapon will never be truly strong," I squeeze the bow until it breaks in half, breaking a Grade 8 weapon in front of her.
A high-grade weapon, after being broken, can hardly be repaired again, so this bow has a 90% chance of being permanently unusable.
"It was mine and I didn’t like it, so I broke it, you can keep the remains, I’m not one to accumulate trash," I drop the remains of the bow in front of her, and she looks at the broken relic with tears.
But to further damage it, I step on it 3 times, breaking it into even smaller pieces, the floor also breaks, but that’s not relevant.
I’ve done some research, this bow is called a national treasure not because of its grade, but because it’s historically important to the elves, especially the royal family.
"Okay, students, enough of this stupid interruption, we’ll continue the class as it was without any more interruptions, and Elariel Sylmira, after this class, come to the principal’s office for your punishment for challenging a teacher and for using a dangerous weapon in a study environment," I apply a punishment as a teacher while I sit back down in my chair.
I have no interest in this elf, if she had just stayed quiet, nothing would have happened, this is what happens to those who are too arrogant and don’t know how to measure the strength of the enemy they’re picking a fight with.
"What are you doing, Rosaline, continue the class soon, we still have things to do," I say to Rosaline, who nervously resumes the class while my attention goes back to my book.
Honestly, this is annoying, why do all the students have some kind of prejudice against me? Every time a newcomer or I go to a new place, this clownery happens.
First, it was the heroes trying to challenge my authority, and now this spoiled princess of the elves, do I have some invisible sign near me that says to bother me?
Or is it because of my passives that make me seem unpleasant to them, so they can’t help but mess with me?
