Chapter 156 - Shadows of the Past

Shadows of the Past

That night, the whole family gathered for dinner, including Fleur and Daphne. However, Natasha was not present, as she was on a secret mission. Everyone was talking and enjoying the evening in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

"Have you heard anything from your older sister?" Perenelle asked with some concern.

"She's on a secret mission with Sirius," Stephen replied calmly.

"Or maybe she ran off with him," Wanda commented with a playful smile before turning to Harry, who was eating in silence. "What do you think of your sister and your godfather ending up together?" she asked with a teasing expression.

"As long as they're happy, why should it bother me?" Harry responded with maturity and serenity.

"Tsk, how boring," Wanda quickly complained, but Daphne just smiled and brought a bite of food to her mouth with a fork, causing Wanda to fall silent for a moment.

"How many days has it been?" Tony asked, looking at Stephen with curiosity.

"Four. Looks like you lost the bet," Stephen replied with a triumphant smile.

"What are you talking about?" Fleur intervened with curiosity.

"Tony and Stephen bet on how long it would take Natasha to ask for help," Loki explained while calmly cutting his steak. However, a second later, a crumpled paper ball hit him in the face.

"What the hell are you doing, damn mortal?!" he exclaimed angrily, glaring at Tony.

Before the argument escalated, an alarm began to sound from one of the alchemical tools on the chimney. These tools had been created by Nicolas and were designed to alert in case of danger. Immediately, everyone became serious and stood up from their seats.

"Well... looks like it's a tie," Tony commented calmly.

"We won't take long... I think," Stephen said before opening a portal. Without wasting time, he stepped through first, followed by Tony and Wanda.

"Aren't you going?" Harry asked Loki.

"Those three could destroy a country or two... I don't see the need to intervene," Loki responded indifferently.

"Then you better go make sure they don't," Perenelle said firmly.

Harry didn't wait any longer and, without giving Loki a chance, grabbed him and dragged him through the portal. As if waiting for them, it quickly closed after their passage.

"Will they be okay?" Fleur asked, showing some concern.

"Don't worry, they've been taking everything seriously lately, and Stephen has increased everyone's training level," Perenelle responded confidently, although her eyes also showed a certain level of concern.

...

Upon arriving on the other side of the portal, what they saw was devastating. Everything around them was destroyed. The area was completely scorched, and in the center, there was a huge crater.

"Hey, hey... Don't tell me a missile fell here," Tony murmured, analyzing the remains with an expert look.

"Look for Natasha," Stephen ordered seriously.

Without wasting time, everyone dispersed to inspect the surroundings.

"Here!" Wanda shouted, drawing the group's attention. She was next to a large pile of dirt on one side of the crater. She extended her hand and, with a swift movement, quickly removed the dirt.

Under the rubble, Natasha lay with her wand in hand, surrounded by protective shields that enveloped her and Sirius, who was gravely injured and covered in blood.

"Sigh... You arrived just in time," Natasha murmured, letting the shield dissipate and return to one of the buttons on her outfit.

"What the hell happened here?" Tony asked, frowning and observing her closely.

"That," Natasha replied, pointing behind her.

A few meters away, several men dressed like soldiers lay motionless on the ground.

"Muggles?" Harry asked in surprise, looking at Sirius with concern, who was already being treated with magic by Stephen and potions from Loki.

"These are the ones who were left... The others... well, you've probably figured it out," Natasha said tiredly, letting herself fall to the ground.

"Let's go back. You can tell us the details when we're safe," Stephen instructed, levitating the unconscious Sirius before opening a portal back to the mansion.

Before crossing, Stephen suddenly turned in one direction and launched several attacks at high speed toward a distant point, too far to be visible with the naked eye.

"Tsk... He escaped," he muttered in annoyance, sensing how the presence in the distance used Apparition to flee.

Without wasting more time, he entered the portal, which closed quickly after him.

.....

At the mansion, concern intensified when they saw Sirius injured, but after a thorough check, Stephen and Loki confirmed that he was out of danger. He just needed rest.

"Now... explain yourself," said Stephen, directing his gaze to Natasha, who was being bandaged by Perenelle, making sure she didn't have any hidden injuries.

Natasha was silent for a moment before looking up seriously.

"Natasha Vallois... That was supposed to be my name, the one my mother would have given me if she hadn't been expelled from her family for protecting me," she began, her voice firm. "When I was a child, the patriarch of the Vallois family, Theo Vallois, became interested in my appearance... and in my blood. Without my mother or me knowing, he began conducting hidden studies..."

Her expression hardened. It was time to tell them the truth.

"How did he get your blood?" Loki asked quickly.

"The Vallois family had a curse in their bloodline that forced members to receive constant transfusions after the age of 50. My mother also needed them before all this happened. That man was very clever; he destroyed my mother's transfusions and prevented her from receiving help. That's when I decided to donate my blood, despite knowing it was special. With my blood, my mother's curse was cured," Natasha said angrily. "But that man seemed to know something, and that's what he wanted to confirm. I guess he managed to get a sample of my blood at that time."

"After that, that disgusting man tried to raise us to make us his lovers," Natasha added with disdain. "That infuriated my mother, so she rejected him immediately. Then, Theo tried to use his power in the family to force her to give in, not knowing that my mother would escape with me and disappear."

"He was conducting experiments in the basements of the mansion, using muggles, witches, and wizards from all over the world... all with my blood. I don't know what he intended to achieve, while we hid."

"But he didn't stop there. He sent assassins after my mother and to capture me. When I gained enough strength, I returned to destroy the family from its foundations, including Theo's death. Before he died, he told me that he knew what I was, and that I had to do everything for the good of wizards and witches in the world. Although I didn't understand what he meant at the time, I just killed him and then burned down the mansion. I thought it was over, but it seems that one of his sons, rejected for being a squib and living in another country, returned. And for some reason, now he's a wizard," Natasha said angrily.

"His name is Alec Vallois. With Sirius, we managed to track him down and practically had him in our hands, but then the military arrived and started shooting at us without warning. They aimed directly at us, and they seemed to know about magic. When their weapons didn't do anything to us, a missile fell on us," Natasha continued seriously.

Everyone was shocked to hear that.

"That guy, Alec, works with the military or something?" Tony asked quickly.

"I don't think so. What we discovered with Sirius is the opposite. It seems like he's encouraging some sort of war with the military, who apparently already know about the existence of wizards and the magical world," Natasha replied, looking seriously at her brothers.

"Great, just what we needed," Tony commented sarcastically.

"Well, that was to be expected. I'm not surprised at all," Stephen said calmly.

"What worries me most about that guy is how he can now use magic. And he seems to be mentally unstable," Natasha added with a tense expression.

...

Meanwhile, in a dark place, illuminated only by the dim light of a candle, a man appeared, falling to the ground in pain. He held his arm and leg, which were bleeding.

"Hahaha... He survived and escaped again," he laughed, ignoring the intense pain he felt. "I have to find a way to make those stupid siblings of hers disappear. Then she'll be mine. And if she's not mine, she'll be no one's," the man said, his emotions rapidly shifting from rage to despair. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"Ugh... Ugh..." Remembering the pain caused by Stephen's attack, he quickly pulled out several potions and drank them without hesitation. "I have to follow the instructions of my Ancestor. I want to see the world burn too," he said as a manic laugh began to escape from his mouth.
