A complicated look appeared on the elder's face after she heard this.

I was a bit surprised and confused, but the High Priestess explained what the situation was.

When the elder had been in the capital, she had even been known as The Strategist.

With the elder at the helm, there were many changes that had been made that allowed the capital to develop to the point where it could create magnificent structures like the human world.

So from another perspective, one could say that the elder was part of the reason why the capital had been corrupted this far.

But that couldn't be blamed on her.

What she did was get all those resources to make the lives of the elves better, it was the fault of the ones that abused this for their personal gains that actually made things worse.

The fact that the elder had this side to her was surprising at first, but it didn't take long for me to figure that it made sense.

After all, the elder had already shown this side of her.

The elven village was very well managed and the trade between us happened quite smoothly. It wasn't just Haley's merit that this happened, it was also because of the elder that everything went smoothly.

That was more than enough to show what kind of abilities the elder had.

After the High Priestess finished explaining, a silence fell over this room once more as the elder and Aisha just looked at each other without speaking.

It was clear that there was still the same tension as before, but it also seemed like the elder was slowly being moved by the way that Aisha looked at her.

In the end, it was the High Priestess who broke the silence by saying, "If you won't do this, then there will be many people who will suffer."

The elder couldn't help knitting her brows when she heard this.

Then looking at the High Priestess, it was as if she was almost threatening her for interfering.

Only the High Priestess wasn't afraid of the elder at all as she looked right back at her with a calm look on her face.

The High Priestess just calmly continued by saying, "You already know that your daughter won't do anything since that's the kind of person she is. In a sense, she'll be just as bad as the previous Elven King if you leave things to her."

"Isn't that the reason why you've been calling all those talented elves in from all over the place?" The elder calmly replied.

The High Priestess just gave a shrug as she said, "But without someone to guide them all, there's no way that they'll work together properly. You should know what kind of pride those with talent have, there's no possibility of them choosing to work together. It's only when there's someone bringing them together that they will work as one."

Then turning to look at Aisha, she said with a sigh, "You and I both know that it'll be impossible for this one to actually do any work."

The way that the High Priestess addressed Aisha had changed over time.

At first, she still talked to her with respect as befitting of one that took the throne as the new Elven Queen and was chosen by Vivrum. However, the more that the High Priestess interacted with Aisha, the more that her tone changed.

Eventually, she ended up with her current tone of talking to her as if she was a child.

After all, in the eyes of the High Priestess, Aisha was like a child.

Not only was it because of the age difference, though the High Priestess still looked like a teenager. It was also because Aisha acted like a child since she was used to being free and only cared about things that she found interesting.

If it wasn't for Vivrum, Aisha definitely wouldn't have taken the throne.

As such, the High Priestess could only look for someone else to do all the things that Aisha should have done.

The one that she chose was the elder.

The elder had a strange look on her face, but it didn't seem like she was denying what the High Priestess was saying. The look on her face even made it seem like she agreed with what the High Priestess said.

After all, she was still Aisha's mother and a mother knew their daughter best.

There was a long silence that lingered in the air before the elder said, "I'm not qualified for this…"

Though it sounded like she was resisting, it did also sound like she was slowly coming around.

Just a single push was enough…

"If you don't do it, then let the kingdom fall to ruin. It's what they deserve for everything that they've done so far." Aisha suddenly said in a careless voice as she gave a shrug as if she really didn't care about any of this.

There were ugly looks that appeared on the faces of the elder and the High Priestess when they heard this.

The two of them just looked at Aisha in silence for a bit, but it didn't seem like Aisha was about to take back what she said. At the same time, the two of them could tell that she was being serious about this.

So the two of them slowly looked at each other as if they were coming to some kind of understanding.

With a nod, the two of them turned back to look at Aisha and the elder said, "I'll do it then."

A wide smile appeared on Aisha's face when she heard this before she said, "Then do it. Consider it your atonement."

A complicated look of hesitation appeared on the elder's face, but she eventually gave a nod of agreement.

With this, it was settled.

With this, the new Elven Queen was chosen.

Though there was an Elven Queen on the surface, the one that actually ran the Elven Kingdom was a completely different person.
