She Lives Well with the Shopping App in the 80s-Chapter 142 County Town Date
Chapter 142: Chapter 142 County Town Date
Zhao Tianlei sold the ginseng and came back, only to see his wife standing alone there.
"Xiaoxiao, Xiaoxiao..." Zhao Tianlei hastened over, calling out to her.
Finally, she came over?
"It’s getting late, let’s go eat first, then see a movie, and finally go to the department store to buy clothes," he said.
"All right, let’s head out." She couldn’t stand in front of the department store any longer. If she stayed any longer, people would start suspecting her identity.
"Mhm." Zhao Tianlei was still familiar with the county town; he knew where the state-owned restaurant was and they headed straight there.
Zhao Tianlei ordered two dishes, one meat and one vegetarian.
It was still a while before mealtime, so the state-owned restaurant wasn’t very busy.
The food arrived especially fast.
"The Braised Pork Belly here tastes really good," he commented.
How long had it been since she’d eaten in a restaurant? She missed it.
But the bowl of rice the waitress brought over, Yun Xiaoxiao couldn’t finish; she was full and couldn’t eat another bite.
"Give it to me," Zhao Tianlei said.
Yun Xiaoxiao watched as Zhao Tianlei took her bowl, poured the leftovers into his own, and began eating, leaving her shocked.
This man was eating her leftovers.
Since childhood, her parents had always taught her to serve as much as she could eat, not to leave any rice in the bowl, that it was polite.
At home, they always followed this rule.
But in a restaurant, it’s the waitstaff who bring the meals.
"What’s wrong?" Zhao Tianlei asked.
Yun Xiaoxiao shook her head. "I’m fine."
She was born in an era where, for the most part, many people could eat their fill.
Eat her leftovers?
After leaving the restaurant, Zhao Tianlei took Yun Xiaoxiao to the cinema, buying some sunflower seeds and soda.
The cinema was showing a film about guerrilla warfare using mines.
The audience wasn’t too large or too small.
Most of them were younger.
They were probably couples out on a date.
"Aren’t you eating?"
Yun Xiaoxiao shook her head; these were just plain sunflower seeds, and they tasted quite average.
Nearly two hours passed, the seeds were finished, and the bottle of soda was empty. It has to be said that the soda had a flavor that wasn’t purely sweet, tasting a little of saccharin.
This soda couldn’t possibly use sugar, using saccharin was more economical.
"Let’s go, we’ll go check out the clothes at the department store."
Yun Xiaoxiao turned back to Zhao Tianlei. "I remember you don’t have any Cloth Tickets?"
"I do, let’s go," he replied.
She’d just have to go along with him.
But Yun Xiaoxiao saw that this man, Zhao Tianlei, was willing to spend; while the average worker’s salary was only about thirty yuan.
"This cotton coat looks nice, this cashmere sweater looks so good..." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Yun Xiaoxiao quickly stopped Zhao Tianlei, who seemed as if he wanted to take the whole department store home with them.
In the end, they only bought one cotton coat, but they also purchased two pounds of egg cakes and a bag of malted milk.
"Is there still a bus this afternoon?"
If there was no bus, how would they get back home?
"Grandma, aren’t Mom and Dad coming back today?" one of the children asked.
This winter, there wasn’t much work to do, several of the sons had moved out, and now only the grandparents were left in the old house.
This morning, the youngest son had brought Da Bao and Xiao Bao over, saying they were going to the county town for a bit.
He took his wife to the county town for a visit.
The round trip would take the whole day.
"Before dark, your father and mother will definitely be back," she reassured her grandsons, who looked listless. Whenever they went out, they would still return occasionally to check if Laosan and the others had returned.
"Will it take that long?" Xiao Bao looked at Mrs. Zhao and asked. His mom and dad usually came back from the town by noon, but going to the county town took this long?
"The county town is farther away than the township," Mrs. Zhao comforted the two little ones.
"Xiao Bao, Dad and Mom will definitely not abandon us," Da Bao assured.
