Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 803: Abigail, did you miss me?
Chapter 803: Chapter 803: Abigail, did you miss me?
Brandon Piers came downstairs and casually pulled a hat out of his pocket, only to see that the spot that looked as if it had been chewed by a dog in the morning was now neatly re-knitted, smooth and pretty. As he passed by Pinky, Brandon raised his hand and put the hat on.
Witnessing all this from the doorway, Pullan, "..."
The young master’s OCD seems to have gotten worse.
"What is it?" Brandon Piers suddenly looked up at Pullan.
Pullan straightened up with a start, "Second Young Master, Lawyer Jones is waiting for you outside."
"Hmm." Brandon Piers wasn’t surprised at all and responded as he left the room, then saw Benjamin Jones leaning against his car, slightly raising his eyebrows, "Lawyer Jones, looking for me about something?"
"I privately think you should be very clear." Benjamin Jones stared into Brandon’s eyes.
"Cough." Brandon Piers coughed artificially, his amber eyes filled with confusion, "Since Lawyer Jones said it’s his private thought, how would I know."
Benjamin Jones looked deeply at him, "Although I don’t like Jeffrey Foster, I don’t like you either, so handle your own matters."
Having said this, Benjamin Jones turned and walked towards his own villa.
Brandon Piers lightly touched his forehead, his gaze landing on Kelvin Max who was not far away.
Kelvin Max hurriedly explained, "Second Young Master, Lawyer Jones knows that young master Foster is living next to you."
Knowing that Jeffrey Foster is living next to Brandon Piers makes today’s events easy to guess.
After hearing this, Brandon Piers felt a headache, "Alright, find someone to talk to the property management and contact him about buying a house. I must prevent Abigail from seeing him before my proposal is successful."
"Yes." Kelvin Max hurried to get it done.
After Kelvin Max left, Brandon Piers looked towards Pullan, "Do you know what your task is from now on?"
Pullan quickly nodded, "Not to let the young madam run into Dean Foster."
"Hmm?" Brandon Piers sounded slightly dissatisfied.
Pullan quickly added, "To not let the young madam run into Dean Foster, while ensuring her safety."
Only then was Brandon Piers somewhat satisfied. He turned and walked toward his own villa, and upon arrival, he saw Adam Piers slouching against the door. Upon seeing him, Adam Piers immediately dashed over, "Brother, you’re finally back, guess who I just saw?"
After speaking, Adam Piers also made faces at Brandon Piers.
Brandon Piers, seeing his sly and sneaky look, knew who he was talking about. Not bothering with him, Brandon went straight in by fingerprint lock.
Adam Piers hurriedly followed in, "Brother, you knew already? Then why don’t you deal with him?"
"You deal with him?" Brandon Piers finally bothered to give Adam Piers a glance.
Adam Piers heard this and stepped back, "Heh, aren’t you just worried that sister-in-law will find out if you don’t deal with him? If I were to do it, sister-in-law would definitely think you’re behind it, wouldn’t the result be the same?"
"You’re quite smart, aren’t you?" Brandon Piers replied in an ambiguous tone.
Adam Piers hehehe played dumb.
Brandon Piers couldn’t be bothered to look at his face, "Act normal."
Adam Piers immediately stopped his silly laugh, "Brother, what do we do next with the company?"
Although Brandon Piers went to the company today, he didn’t take any major actions except for cooperating with the police investigation, which left Adam Piers hanging in uncertainty. He was always worried that he might be targeted as well, especially since his father had joined the fray when the old man was hospitalized. Now, he was hiding at home, trembling with fear, worried that Brandon Piers would have him dragged out.
"What are your thoughts?" Brandon Piers asked back.
Adam Piers was taken aback by the question, then after thinking for a while, he said, "I think it’s an opportunity. The Piers’ business has been too complicated and chaotic in the past few years, from pharmaceutical research to manufacturing, and constantly opening new facilities nationwide, operating at overcapacity. Additionally, with aging internal management, it allowed others to take advantage of the vulnerability and led to today’s situation. My idea is that we could take this chance to cleanse our shares, remove the research and manufacturing departments, focus solely on hospitals, then partner with major pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, seeking a win-win cooperation..."
After a lengthy speech, Adam Piers, who usually had a silly face, was unexpectedly serious for once.
Brandon Piers pointed to the sofa, then poured a glass of water to place on the coffee table. Turning around, he poured another for himself before saying, "Well said."
Adam Piers, who was still somewhat nervous, blushed, scratching his head embarrassedly from the praise.
Brandon Piers, however, looked at him seriously, "The task I assigned you before, are you still following up on it?"
Adam Piers nodded. Since the public announcement of postponing his wedding to Bertha Swift, he plunged into the last project. All the relocations have been completed, but with the company’s recent problems and the break in the funding chain, no bank was willing to loan money. He was searching for investments everywhere, yet given the current reputation of the Piers, he feared the later stages would be difficult to start.
After reporting the situation to Brandon Piers, Brandon Piers nodded in understanding, "I will find a way to deal with the funds. Keep pushing the project forward. ROSE Technology will fully support you technically. You will make the connection in person when the time comes."
"ROSE Technology?" Adam Piers was surprised. This company had risen as a dark horse in the tech industry in the past two years, seemingly poised to dominate alone. They had even competed against him in the bid for the plot of land in the eastern city, making them competitors. Yet, this monster was saying they would fully support him technically? He was somewhat dumbfounded.
He had heard that Mr. Fast of ROSE Technology was notoriously difficult to deal with.
"I’ll notify them in advance," Brandon Piers said casually.
Adam Piers responded with admiration and thought that the person before him really could do anything. He couldn’t help but feel relieved that he’d managed to hold back his father’s suicidal impulses when Brandon was incarcerated. Otherwise, his father wouldn’t just be at home acting like a scared quail.
"What about Joshua Piers? He has not appeared in the company since Uncle Three was put away. With your uncle and Samuel Piers out of prison, I’m afraid they’ll want to take revenge on you?" After finishing the work conversation, Adam Piers couldn’t help but bring up Joshua Piers and his family. Up until now, Joshua Piers was still nominally the CEO of Piers.
"I have my own arrangements," Brandon Piers glanced at the time, "Alright, stop sucking up, get out."
Adam Piers chuckled twice, well aware he couldn’t fool anyone. But seeing that the other person didn’t seem intent on dealing with his father, he felt temporarily relieved.
After Adam Piers left, Kelvin Max approached, "Second Master, Mr. Joshua intends to send those two father and son to Australia, should we do something about it?"
Brandon Piers raised an eyebrow, "There’s no need."
Joshua Piers’ decision to send the father and son to Australia clearly indicated a gesture of softening. The grudge between him and the father and son had been settled ten years ago. Since they had decided not to stir up trouble, he saw no need to persistently corner them and force them into a desperate fight.
As for why Australia was chosen, he could guess; given that Joshua Piers was an informant for the police, with the Croft Family suffering heavy losses in Asia, it was just a matter of time before they put the pieces together. Sending them to Australia was obviously the best choice.
After discussing the company matters further, Brandon Piers suddenly remembered something, "What’s this about Teddy’s early education teacher?"
"I’ll check right away." Kelvin Max wasn’t as familiar with the estate’s matters as he was with the company’s.
Brandon Piers nodded, and once everyone had left, he entered his study. It was another busy night until late.
The next day he shamelessly went to Abigail’s place again for a meal.
Abigail showed her disdain, but she couldn’t stop him with his impenetrable good looks, so she let him freeload.
But after Brandon Piers left, she summoned Pullan inside, "Did the Second Young Master know Miss Locke before?"
"Are you referring to Miss Sophia Patel? We are acquainted, she has always been an employee under Piers." Pullan hurriedly replied.
Abigail frowned slightly, "Miss Locke seems young; has she been with Piers all along? Did she join the company right after graduating?
As far as she knew, it was not easy for an ordinary person to get into Piers, and from her recent interactions with Sophia Patel, although the latter was competent, she didn’t seem exceptionally skilled to join Piers right after graduation.
Upon hearing this, Pullan quickly explained, "Madam, the Piers family has always had a special blood type, so the company has set a precedent from early on to employ ’panda blood’ workers, and Miss Locke is one of them. She was the blood donor for the Second Young Master’s recent surgery."
After listening, Abigail was slightly startled, then understood. This must be like a blood bank reserved by the wealthy for themselves. Fortunately, Teddy had inherited her blood type.
"Are you dissatisfied with Miss Locke? If so, she can be transferred somewhere else." Seeing that the Madam had been silent, Pullan quietly inquired.
"Let’s wait until September. Then, I’ll take Teddy to an external school for classes," Abigail thought for a moment. Teddy had just gotten familiar with Sophia Patel, so it wasn’t good to change personnel now, especially since she was also part of Brandon’s ’blood bank’, there was no need to make things too awkward.
"Yes," Pullan complied.
Fortunately, since the last incident, Sophia Patel had not displayed similar issues and behaved normally, which eased Abigail’s mind.
Pullan reported Abigail’s decision to Brandon Piers, and Brandon did not comment further, looking up at Hughes who he had asked to come to the company, then handed him an Offer.
Hughes took it, glanced over, and slightly raised his eyebrows, "What does the Second Young Master mean by this?"
"As you see," Brandon Piers shrugged.
"I am satisfied with my current job and have no plans to change," Hughes declined.
Brandon Piers got upset, "To drive for Abigail all your life? Have you ever thought about it, Hughes? You may be willing, but would Abigail agree?"
"Anyway, she hasn’t told me to leave," Hughes replied stubbornly.
"If I’m not wrong, she will come to you tonight. She knows your capabilities. Before, there was no choice, but now that the crisis is over, to keep you would be a pity for her. Anyone can be a driver, but there’s only one Hughes. ROSE Technology is a place where you can fulfill your dreams, and most importantly..." Brandon paused here.
Hughes looked at him, wanting to know what he was getting at.
With his goal achieved, Brandon slowly continued, "ROSE Technology is under Abigail’s name, so working at ROSE means you’re still working for her, just in a more suitable position."
Hughes was shocked, "ROSE Technology belongs to Abigail?"
"Mm, let Secretary Max know once you make up your mind. Someone will naturally take you through the induction process," said Brandon, leaving Hughes to digest this alone.
Hughes certainly knew ROSE Technology, the most promising domestic tech company. Several notable new domestic products in the past years came from them. Joining their team meant a new beginning for him.
But he had sworn in his heart to protect Abigail in the future...
As Hughes was internally struggling, his phone rang at that moment. Without looking at the caller ID, he knew who it was from the special ringtone he had set. Recalling Brandon’s words, Hughes glanced up at the handsome man engrossed in his office work, and pressed to answer as he stepped out of the office.
"Come over for dinner tonight; I have something to discuss with you," Abigail chose her words carefully.
Hughes already knew, "Okay."
Instead of mooching off dinner while working overtime, Hughes quietly finished his meal and was summoned by Abigail to the study.
Upon exiting, Hughes was disheartened, yet he knew this was the best choice. He could never have anything with Abigail, let alone continue staying by her side as her driver. Just as Brandon Piers said, Abigail would never agree to it.
Although he couldn’t protect Abigail around the clock at ROSE Technology, he was willing and happy to work and earn money for her.
This was the best outcome within his knowledge.
Standing upstairs, Abigail watched Hughes leave, feeling a faint sadness in her heart. Everyone would eventually find their own place, for better or worse.
She hoped that joining ROSE Technology would become the best destination for Hughes.
"Can’t bear to let go?" While Abigail was lost in thought, a familiar presence enveloped her from behind, carrying the warmth of August, but the words sounded sour no matter how she heard them.
Abigail reached out her finger to lightly poke the person and deliberately said, "Yes, I can’t bear to let go."
Brandon Piers let out a light chuckle, took her fingertip in his hand without probing further, and murmured reluctantly, "Abigail, I’m going to be busy for a while. Will you wait for me?"
Abigail knew about the big mess waiting for Brandon at Piers Corporation, but retorted stubbornly, "Who’s going to wait for you?"
Brandon Piers didn’t listen, instead forcefully pulling her into an embrace, "You must wait."
Abigail didn’t make a sound, but the corner of her mouth curled up.
Subsequently, as she had guessed, Brandon Piers became busy. Apart from seeing him at breakfast, there wasn’t much time together, and it wasn’t long before Piers Corporation announced the dismissal of Joshua Piers, followed by Brandon Piers’s radical reforms throughout the company.
Piers Corporation was even more turbulent than when it was under investigation, with the public’s denunciation turning into various speculations. Amidst these speculations, Brandon Piers carried out a large-scale personnel clean-up within the company, cutting off the pharmaceutical and R&D departments, and conducted strict self-inspections of all the hospitals under Piers Corporation.
By the time this series of actions concluded, it was already the tail end of autumn.
It had been three days since Abigail last saw Brandon Piers. The man had been busier lately, and Piers Corporation’s reputation had gradually improved. However, their relationship seemed to have stalled three months ago, not far yet not close, just dragging on until she saw a hand in Miss Locke’s Facebook Circle. Almost instantly, she recognized whose hand it was.
She had resigned from Sophia Patel a month ago but hadn’t deleted her Facebook profile. She never expected to stumble upon this first thing in the morning.
After a moment of stunned disbelief, Abigail looked at the photo again. Though the photo was not very clear, the girl’s slender fingers were gently hooked onto the man’s palm, ambiguous yet artistic—typical of Sophia Patel’s Facebook Circle style. The caption read, "After ten years, my wish has come true. Grateful."
Was this a love confession?
Abigail realized she was trembling slightly and took a while to exit the page before dialing Brandon Piers’s number.
This was the first time in three months she had taken the initiative to call him. It wasn’t that she was playing hard to get; they were both busy, and their occasional breakfasts together were rushed. She didn’t want to disturb him. Yet, she hadn’t expected her consideration would pave the way for someone else.
The phone rang a few times before it was picked up.
Brandon Piers was surprised, which made his voice sound a bit excited, "Abigail, do you miss me?"
Words that were stuck in Abigail’s throat made her eyes feel sore when asked by him, and she took a moment to calm down, "Will you be coming back to Rose Valley tonight? I have something to ask you."
"Okay, I also have something to tell you," Brandon Piers replied, his lips curving upward. After not returning for three days, his darling finally seemed to miss him. He turned to Kelvin Max, "Speed it up."
"Rest assured, tonight the whole valley will be lit up."
"Good."
