Reborn as a Devouring Dragon with a System-Chapter 137: The Abyss (7)
Chapter 137: The Abyss (7)
The next day,
The red sun rose gently over the Demon Realm. In the heart of the towering Demon Castle—the fortress built by the new Emperor—
within the largest chamber, two figures lay quietly asleep on the grand bed.
A black-haired, enchanting young man with golden eyes.
A golden-haired young lady.
Suddenly, the young lady let out a soft grunt. Her golden eyes fluttered open—and the first thing she saw was the face of the handsome black-haired young man beside her.
Confusion hit her for a second...
Then, like a thunderclap, the memories of the previous day slammed into her mind.
Her face turned beet red.
With trembling hands, she lifted the edge of the blanket and peeked beneath.
Her body—naked.
The bedsheets—stained red.
Her face burned brighter, her ears flushed crimson, and she quickly pulled the blanket back over herself.
She knew.
She had communed with the Demon Emperor.
She turned slightly to look at him. Still asleep. Still breathtaking.
A shy smile crept onto her face.
Long before she discovered the truth about her family, she had harbored a secret crush on the Demon Emperor.
Who told Daniel to keep spanking her every time she provoked a fight and lost?
It had humiliated her—
But curiosity had planted a seed.
She’d wanted to understand him.
To understand the dark aura that always clung to him like shadow.
Torn between hatred and fascination, she hadn’t known what to do—until the truth came out.
Until she realized her family was the reason he became like this.
Uhh!
Daniel stirred.
He was waking up.
Panic gripped her.
She slammed her eyes shut, pretending to be asleep, her body rigid beneath the blanket.
Daniel yawned as he opened his eyes, staring blankly at the high ceiling of the castle room.
He frowned slightly, wondering when exactly he had arrived here.
Then—yesterday’s events crashed into his memory.
He sighed.
To think that this girl would ambush him with a kiss laced with an aphrodisiac...
If it had been a simple one, he could have neutralized it in seconds.
But something else had been mixed in—something that suppressed his body’s regenerative system.
He turned his gaze to the girl beside him.
Her expression was serene—too serene.
He smirked.
How bold of her.
Then he noticed it—
Her cheeks were flushed.
Her breathing... slightly erratic.
His smirk deepened.
"I know you’re awake. You better stop pretending," Daniel said with a dry cough, followed by a low chuckle.
Still, she kept her eyes shut.
But Daniel saw the tips of her ears—as red as tomatoes.
"Or..." Daniel’s voice dropped to a husky murmur.
"Do you want to go for another round?"
A sharp gasp—
She shot up from the bed like a startled rabbit.
"Good morning, Demon Emperor!" she stammered.
"Just call me Drakion," Daniel laughed. "’Demon Emperor’ sounds cringe."
She nodded quickly.
"What’s your name?" Daniel asked with a gentle smile.
"Lyla," she replied.
"That’s a good name," he chuckled.
Lyla found herself entranced.
Daniel, too, stared for a moment too long.
It took them both a while to recover—leaving behind a mutual awkwardness and a rising warmth in their chests.
Later, after showering and changing, Daniel found himself watching Lyla as she cooked.
She had been shocked to learn that Drakion no longer ate food.
Daniel smiled faintly.
Even on Earth, no one had ever cared for him like this.
Most of his human memories had long been drowned by the sea of suffering in this life.
He looked at the dish she placed before him.
She had carefully avoided any ingredients harmful to vampires.
He shook his head, smiling.
Thoughtful little thing.
A week passed in the blink of an eye.
The Heavenly Dynasty was in turmoil.
Their Empress—vanished.
Panic gripped the hearts of the people.
Meanwhile, at the Demon Castle...
In the serene garden, a young man sat with a young woman resting peacefully on his lap.
"Aren’t you going to handle things back in your Dynasty?" Daniel mused as he looked down at Lyla.
She placed a thoughtful finger beneath her chin.
"That’s true... I should probably call Simeon and let him know."
Daniel burst into laughter.
She had truly forgotten about her entire dynasty.
But what Daniel didn’t expect was that she would soon expose their relationship to everyone.
When the Dynasty received the news, they were stunned.
They found it hard to believe.
Many assumed that the Demon Emperor must have forced their Empress into this.
The younger generation—hot-blooded and furious—
Declared their intent to rescue their Empress.
But then—
Reality struck.
If even their Empress couldn’t defeat the Demon Emperor—
What chance did they have?
The news reached the Demon Realm.
The realm itself was shaken, the revelation crashing through its dominion like a storm.
Shock rippled across its lands as murmurs rose, and demands for an explanation began pouring in—
especially from the leaders of the various demon races.
Daniel’s subordinates had no choice.
They approached him, hoping to confirm whether the rumors were true.
After all, they too had noticed—
The Emperor and the Heavenly Queen often strolled through the castle together,
completely unbothered, under the sharp gazes of his ever-watchful subordinates.
It was then Daniel realized—
Their relationship had been exposed.
When he ordered them to trace the leak,
the culprit turned out to be none other than—Lyla.
He hadn’t expected her to handle it so brazenly.
The absurdity of it caught him off guard—
and soon, laughter filled the air.
When he finally asked her why she had done it,
her response was simple, casual—yet laced with her usual mischief.
"There’s no reason to hide it. Besides, this will stop those admirers of mine from pestering me—
and force those old geezers to quit matchmaking me."
That was her answer.
And Daniel laughed even harder.
He instructed his subordinates to go ahead and confirm the news publicly.
And they did.
When the Demon Realm heard that their Emperor had personally confirmed it—
they were stunned.
They refused to believe it.
Most were convinced the Heavenly Queen had seduced their Emperor—
bewitched him somehow.
Among the many who admired the Demon Emperor,
the news struck like an arrow to the heart—
shattering affections into countless fragments.
Both realms—Heavenly and Demonic—spiraled into turmoil.
And the ones responsible for it all?
They were far too busy being lovey-dovey to care.
