Kranos stood at the edge of the battlefield. At first, he was stunned to see some of his comrades turning on each other. But upon reflection, he had already anticipated such betrayal. That was precisely why he had fought alone, keeping his distance from the other cultivators—he couldn’t afford to be stabbed in the back while dealing with a powerful enemy.
He turned to glance at what was going on at Ming’s place. Fortunately, he was close by. Seeing everything that transpired, he was shocked but also appreciative of the woman’s ingenuity, she was truly smart!
Before Kranos could dwell on it further, a monstrous beast charged toward him. Snapping back to the present, he focused entirely on the oncoming threat. The creature resembled a massive elephant, but black tentacles writhed around its body as it charged towards him. Kranos exhaled inwardly with a sigh. This is going to be a tough battle, he thought grimly.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere on the battlefield, the worm’s expression had grown solemn. It could sense the energy gathering around Ming—powerful enough to rival its own.
Ming clenched her fists tightly, feeling a wave of strength unlike anything she had experienced before. Though she had reached the Golden Core Realm earlier, she had never truly felt powerful—until now. For the first time, it felt like she could crush a small city with a single strike. Her battle techniques had been enhanced dramatically.
The creature didn’t give Ming a chance to think too much; it sent a tentacle hurling towards Ming. Previously, she wouldn’t have been able to dodge the attack, as it was just too fast but now... she just sidestepped, dodging the tentacle.
She immediately shouted at the worm, "demon you think you are the only one with a tentacle? I created this technique specially for you!" As her voice fell, a massive water tentacle crackling with lightning surged from her back. With a sharp motion, she slashed at the creature.
The worm was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered. Dozens of dark tentacles sprouted from its body and met her attack head-on. A thunderous explosion echoed as the two forces collided, distorting the air and rippling space.
Ming immediately increased her speed and rushed towards the creature, her arms having turned into sharp tentacles that were constantly slashing at the creature. Space was rippling as their battle echoed causing the whole battlefield to tremble greatly.
The battle continued with neither side gaining the upper hand. This wasn’t what Ming wanted, the demon’s strength belonged to it while her strength was borrowed, there was no way she could outlast the creature, with this thought she sidestepped an attack and immediately created some distance between her and the monster.
Soon crackles of lightning appeared around her, they turned into tentacles. That was the benefit of the five elements formation, any attack she had mastered in any element could be turned into a specified element of attack, Ming slashed at the demon with the lightning tentacles.
From ancient records left by those immortals, she had read, she knew that demonic creatures such as this were particularly weak to light elements, lightning elements, and so on. As expected, the worm didn’t dare clash directly with the lightning. It sidestepped in panic, its massive body hurtling like a meteor to avoid the blow.
But Ming gave it no chance to recover. More lightning tentacles formed and soon there were almost more than twenty. With the demon’s large body, it soon had no choice but to defend against the attack. It blocked the attack, bringing about a hissing sound.
The demon’s flesh began to smoke and sizzle. It could feel searing pain beneath its body, it knew the atvantage it had in this battle was slowly dwindling... Fortunately it had theimmortal body, with a flash of light, its wounds rapidly regenerated, restoring the damaged tissue in seconds.
But Ming didn’t stop, she seemed as though she had gone crazy, relentlessly attacking the worm demon like she was aiming to slash it apart.
Ten minutes... she muttered inwardly. I can only hold out for ten minutes. Any longer, and this energy will destroy me.
Her strikes grew even faster.
Lightning crackled... From afar it looked as though some one was undergoing a thunder tribulation, as if the heavens themselves were condemning the mortal world. Citizens within the distant safe haven fell to their knees, begging the heavens for forgiveness, mistaking the battle for divine wrath.
The battle between Ming and the monster spanned miles, Their movements were too fast for the naked eye. Even Kranos could only catch glimpses of light flickering across the battlefield.
Sensing her time was nearly up, Ming took a deep breath. It was time to use her final trump card.
"Everyone... lend me your lifespans," she said calmly. "Ju, after this attack, we may all die."
Those that were part of the array were horrified hearing Ming’s words and hey tried to discard their rods, but found them stuck to their hands as if it were magnetized. One by one, they began to age rapidly followed by the first cultivator, then another, soon all of them felt that almost all of their lifespan had destroyed.
Ming’s life also shortened in an instant and she realized she only had one hour left to live. If she executed this attack and she didn’t win, there was no chance left for them, but she had no choice. After all barely three minutes were left before her body wouldn’t be able to bear the array.
No one else could be the eye of the array since she had to engrave runes inside her bones just to make this possible so the idea of handing it over to Grandpa Ju didn’t cross her mind.
At this moment the clouds darkened, everyone was immediately horrified, since the creature appeared in this world, the skies had always remained purple but now they darkened, and not just that, lightning was flashing incessantly in the sky. Soon, the sky was slowly clearing the purple mist.
Not good! An attack at the monarch realm?" seeing the attack, the worm’s eyes widened in horror, he immediately realized that it was an attack at the monarch realm.
The lightining had already fractured countless spaces... Space combusted under the pressure, unable to withstand the sheer weight of the incoming strike.
The attack moved very slowly but the worm was frozen in place and felt it could not dodge this strike... The strike was too beautiful, too astonishing, too destructive!
