Chapter 569 - 568: The Pokémon With a Steel Gate on Its Head

Another day had passed.

It was the fourth day since Cain had arrived on the island.

When he woke up in the morning, he no longer saw Altaria or her two offspring.

He didn't give it much thought. When he had arrived here, Altaria and her family were already gone, so they had likely gone out again.

Cain had Slowking mark the area with a psychic coordinate, and then, along with his Pokémon, he ventured back into the Scolipede forest.

By now, the number of Scolipede in the forest had decreased drastically.

In the presence of Cain, the cause of their downfall, the Scolipede showed no intention of resisting and stepped aside to let him pass.

They had no other choice. Although Cain and his Pokémon weren't invincible, if things got difficult, they could escape. The Scolipede had tried to stop him before but had failed.

However, after retreating, Cain and his team would return with an even fiercer offensive.

After several rounds of encounters, the Scolipede didn't know what else to do.

It was simply unfair.

In the end, the Scolipede tribe decided to avoid any conflict with Cain and his Pokémon, staying out of their way. Their group was practically depleted, so letting them through wasn't an issue.

Cain had also lost interest in the Scolipede.

Without a new leader emerging, the tribe was essentially finished.

It was time to continue exploring the island.

Cain wondered how the other trainers were faring.

Could someone have been lucky enough to be teleported directly near the ruins in the center of the island?

Direct teleportation to the ruins wasn't possible, as psychic waves interfered with spatial positioning.

Cain had learned this from Regi.

If not for this interference, Team Rocket would have sent a large group of people directly to the ruins, without the need to explore the island.

After passing through the Scolipede forest, Cain encountered a new landscape.

A vast area of rocks and gravel.

The area was filled with jagged rocks and small patches of scattered sand.

Rock-type Pokémon were abundant here, with Geodude being the most common.

However, these Pokémon weren't particularly aggressive, and due to their rocky bodies, few Pokémon dared to bother them, so they lived in peace.

They spent their days basking in the sun, and when hungry, they would simply eat nearby rocks. If no rocks were available, the sand on the ground would suffice.

Cain wasn't particularly interested in these Pokémon.

Even if Geodude evolved into Golem, it wasn't what Cain was looking for.

The transition between the forest and the rocky terrain was surprisingly seamless, without feeling out of place.

There was no doubt that the Mythical Island was unique, a place where any type of Pokémon could appear.

Besides Geodude, there were quite a few Roggenrola. Compared to Geodude, Roggenrola were even more timid. When they saw Cain and his Pokémon approaching, they would quickly flee.

On the surface, there didn't appear to be any tribal divisions in this rocky and sandy area.

Geodude and Roggenrola coexisted in the same habitat.

However, that could have been because Cain had only encountered more peaceful Pokémon like Geodude and Roggenrola.

In addition to them, there were several Boldore and Graveler. However, Golem and Gigalith were much rarer, almost nonexistent.

A massive Onix slithered slowly across the rocky terrain not far from Cain, leaving behind a deep trench that was soon covered by Roggenrola.

Cain also spotted Pokémon like Dwebble and Crustle, who would lift their rocks to sneak a glance before quickly retreating.

Occasionally, small eyes peeked out from piles of sand. Scanning them with his system, Cain discovered they were Hippopotas hiding.

It was likely that Hippowdon could also be found in this area.

Cain joked with Slowking, "Look, Slowking, it seems you've found your relatives. Both of you are hippos. Want to say hi?"

Slowking showed some interest but ultimately didn't get the chance.

That was because as soon as the Hippopotas sensed Slowking's presence, they felt threatened and quickly buried themselves in the sand.

As Ground-type Pokémon, they naturally avoided Water-types like Slowking.

Both were hippos, but Slowking was a water-dwelling hippo, while Hippopotas lived in the sand, as their name implied.

This place was truly a haven for Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon.

Cain had been on the Mythical Island for quite a while and had already encountered Pokémon from the first six regions discovered by the League, except for those from the seventh region: Alola.

"Has Mew never been to Alola? Or could it be because of the... Ultra Beasts?" Cain vaguely recalled that those were the correct words.

However, this wasn't particularly relevant to his current situation.

After walking a while longer, Cain realized that this rocky and sandy expanse seemed endless.

From outside the island, it hadn't been obvious, but now that he was inside, Cain was surprised by the area's vastness.

Luckily, he didn't have to worry about getting lost, as he could always orient himself by the direction of the Tree of Life at the center of the island.

"Whoa!" Cain exclaimed upon seeing a group of Pokémon running ahead of him.

It was a group of Pokémon running with something resembling a steel gate on their heads. The rhythmic pounding of their footsteps made the ground tremble slightly.

"Those are... Shieldon and Bastiodon."

Cain quickly recognized them.

Shieldon and Bastiodon.

Shieldon evolves into Bastiodon at level 30.

Although their name includes the word "dragon," they aren't Dragon-type Pokémon. They are a type of pseudo-dragon Pokémon, similar to Tropius, which Cain used as a mount.

Although their dragon blood is sparse, it's still present, granting them incredible physical strength. freёweɓnovel.com

As Rock- and Steel-type Pokémon, Bastiodon possesses extraordinarily high physical and special defense, with its physical defense being especially terrifying.

That's why they are called "guardians."

"I wonder why they're in such a hurry," Cain observed the direction in which they were running, intrigued.

Since he had nothing urgent to do, he decided to follow them out of curiosity.

With Drapion looking eager, Cain climbed onto its back.

In this rocky terrain, Drapion could move much faster than Cain could on foot.

Gathering Slowking and the others, along with Honchkrow, Cain set off in pursuit of the retreating Bastiodon.
