Perfect Avatar-Chapter 306: Seeking For The Truth: The Mystery of The Sins
Chapter 306: Seeking For The Truth: The Mystery of The Sins
Black and white, up and down, destruction and naught, the world was getting paint by the chaos of Dora and Rhea’s battle.
No one in this world hoped for salvation, no one could imagine this coming to them anymore.
The Players unleashed the apocalypse on every elements, tsunamis, earthquake, lava ocean, celestial explosions were chanting a choir of death.
No one could stop the concept of the apocalypse, even the strongest emissary was forced to give up on all hope, and remembering they were humans, they knelt down in front of the Titans, before being blasted.
Hands in prayers, head down, all began a preach, not for hope, not for a miracle.
With the same will, every human with a clear mind offered a prayer directed to nothing, all their will was on the action of praying.
In the middle of the little planet floating above, Candace, the Pseudo-Avatars, the maids, the warlords, and the warriors, all on knee imitated the same move.
On their knees, eyes closed, with the concert of the apocalypse over them, they waited for a conclusion to this nightmare.
Time to time, they saw a light engulfing them, and right after, they were back to normal.
How long will that last? How long did it already last? How many people will survive this?
The tremor of one million nuclear explosion every second shook the atmosphere, being alive was already a prodigy.
The chaos was only getting stronger, as if these two powers were limitless, burning harder at their last moments, and in another reality, the original Dora and the Players were analyzing as fast as possible the concept of the Sins, the last step to reach the true Dora.
"Thanks to the Will of the World, everything has a meaning. The true Dora has some kind of power, all changing depending of the reality of his world. In your world of origin, it was this invader, in our world , it’s the Sins."
Outside, the formation in the sky was wide opened, drowning the world in darkness.
Dora gave a quick glance to the hole with the shape of the invader’s eye, then turned his attention to the one with the oldest appearance.
"The Sins are the concept of Dora’s essence in this world, I have some interrogations... Eva, did my past self had showed the Sins before or was it something else?"
"... Something different... and identical. Your powers weren’t awakened yet, but the mission I’ve been born with, in this world, was to use a sacred weapon against you, and it would be enough to crush the goal of the invader."
They looked at each other for a while, Dora’s gaze growing more perplexed, making Eva feel embarrassed.
"... Y-Yes?"
"Mission? You were born with a mission? Is that something like the system?"
"Hm? Oh, no, not in my case. I had a knowledge from the moment I awakened in this world. I’ve forgotten most things from our origin world, but I had the knowledge of who I was, and the regrets of what happened. The power I inherited, the vision, grand me foresight power. I can predict events, so I manip... I ask for help to provoke some events."
"Like sending Pride to me to do a genocide." Apophis yawned.
"... Like asking Rhea to go to Kalaharis because the vision showed me that you would meet there."
"Hold on, pink creature," Ymir frowned. "If the vision showed an event happening in the future, why do you believe your action made it happen? Doesn’t that instead mean that Pride would be there anyway? So your advice could have instead changed her mind and she would refuse to go, which would cause a time paradox, but since it did happen it would mean that fate is unstoppable and they would meet either way, so even fighting now is pointless, since in the end, the conclusion is predetermined."
Everyone looked at her like a zoo animal, even Eva was at a complete loss for words this time.
"... So, anyway, I can see the future. When the Players came to this world, they had the same setting, this will seek for an Avatar. In my case, I appeared before the Twilight of Gods, but I was the last to die in our world. Because of my link with the invader, the Will of the World chose me as a messenger to save your world."
"...Eh... Messiah..." Elizabeth murmured.
"... I’ve been resurrected with the sole purpose of saving you, and with a specific mission: to prevent him from taking you, by all means. He targeted you when you were at your weakest, there was no chance for you to resist him, but with my vision, I saw a future."
She gave a sorrowful gaze to Dora before bowing.
"If I killed you before he found you, the invader would abandon his goal, at least for this cycle. My goal was to kill you and find you in the future to help you prepare for his return... but..."
"My resurrection happened exactly on the same period as his return... it makes sense, he’s not stupid and with Gluttony around coming here was too complicated."
Dora crossed his arms, moving his lips.
"The Will of the World showed you a path for a reason, so even that must be predicted. If everything has a meaning, then even the order of apparition has a meaning. Gluttony first, then Wrath, Envy, Lust, Pride, Sloth, and Greed."
On her desk, Midgard looked at the ceiling, thinking.
"You think there’s a hidden message? Like Gluttony for the hunger to get more power?"
"It would make sense..." Eva nodded, "The hunger to get more power would lead Gluttony to... wait, but Dora is Greed, it doesn’t work!"
Hecate, now a teenager spat on the ground.
"Y’know what? Maybe Greed appeared last so he would be greedy for those Sins? So the last would hunt them all, after knowing they exist."
"If I may..." Fafnir, arms crossed raised a finger.
"No, you mayn’t."
"... If I may, if you take things another way, the Sins seem to share some similitude. Your description of Gluttony fits Greed, and if we apply your reasoning to other Sins, I’m sure we will always find a way to make it work. This interpretation is misleading."
Everyone exchanged a gaze, once again, it completely made sense. The idea of a Sin used as a way of getting one person to hunt the others could work for all of them, even Sloth could be seen as a will to get powers from others instead of trying.
They were once again in deep thought, conscious that for each second lost, Dora and Rhea destroyed the world more and more.
Dora observed the sky again, with the burning question in mind. Why... But suddenly, it was the void.
"... What are... guys, what are we exactly trying to find?"
All eyes turned on him again. Apophis, falling on her seat raised a brow.
"Having fun or finding the exit of this life, one thing or both."
"Ok, but what’s the point of knowing why the Sins will hunt each other? Our goal is to understand the true Dora, there’s no point wasting time on knowing the order of apparition!"
They exchanged a few gazes, but even then they were clueless. Eva made an effort and seeing how she couldn’t form any idea, she resorted to putting everything on him.
"You... You used to be smarter than anyone... Do you have any idea?"
"Yeah, what are we exactly looking for?" Ymir groaned.
All were glued to his words, waiting for anything more useful than their pointless game.
"We’re looking for the meaning of the true Dora, but let’s think about it, the true Dora is the bearer of all Sins, and I am him... There might be a meaning in the apparition of the Sins, but the thing is, the one we’re trying to understand is the owner of every Sins, so the truth is in the concept of those Sins!"
He turned to Charybdis with such a sudden move that the old woman flinched.
"W-What?" freewёbnoνel.com
"You, Eryl knew too much about the Sins, so I bet you know as much. What is the true meaning of gluttony?... In this world!"
"Ehem... why the question? I don’t know for sure if I have your answer... Well, Gluttony’s quest was more about taking things even if I was satisfied."
"... Yes, that’s definitely sounds like Greed."
He rolled his eyes and fixed the window again, his lips dancing.
"Consume... without limit... Wrath, what’s about you?"
The tall lady leaned on her desk, her smile displaying pointy teeth grew wider.
"Oooh... that was nothing... just a kill count."
"... Killing? Like people?"
"No, like dreams, of course like people what do you think? Every day I had to kill a great number of living beings, humans, giants, anything with life was destroyed... the boy was a warrior, so we had so much prey every day... and when it wasn’t enough we would take the people... you should have seen this Emperor screaming for help... he surrounded himself with hundred men, he even stabbed his own throat to avoid us... but we still tore his arms of just in time... Uh... it was so amazing..."
She trembled with pleasure on her desk, drooling in front of a disgusted audience. Dora’s eyes closed for a second, it seemed like a good idea at first, but now he felt like it was pointless.
The Sins were always Sins, and to imagine the true Dora as the bearer of all of them was imagining a true monster, unlike what he knew about the True Dora.
He was in deep thought when footsteps came closer to him.
"Maybe the truth about the Sins isn’t in quests?" Midgard stood beside him.
