Chapter 291: The Day It Begun

In the base, all the members of Fenrir’s army were going through their end of the day like any other day, it should have been a mundane routine, with nothing in particular to notice, but a burst of power would soon plunge this day in history. An explosion shook the earth, sending everyone into the ground for a second.

The entire base shook, a shockwave swept through the area, destroying many buildings. It was evening, but a red sun lit up the mountains.

"We are under attack!"

All the knights rushed together to the scene of the explosion, but with the base collapsing and the violent winds of energy, their running stopped without reaching the red orb, although it was not necessary anyway. "...Damn, look! It’s him!"

From the top of the orb, Dora emerged, unaffected by the explosion.

He glanced at the growing army and opened his hand towards them.

"Aurum..."

The air turned yellow and the black knights turned into soul stones.

At the same time, in the bar they used as meeting point, the Personas, the Warlords, Zury and Marie were having fun once again, until everyone felt the same surge of power.

"The fuck, is that?!"

"What... An explosion?? We’re under attack?!"

Giudecca and Lucca jumped from their seats, around them, the Personas were genuinely surprised. They could recognize Wrath’s energy, but they couldn’t imagine that the origin would be one of them, so the only option would be Gloria.

- Gather.

A voice echoed in their heads.

They widened their eyes in sync, that simple word was the worst confession possible, and then the memory shared with the main body reached the Personas, and each of them felt their brains go numb.

"...You..." Beta’s eyes twitched.

A black hole appeared beneath all of them, including Marie and Zury, sending them out of sight, allowing Giudecca to understand what was happening.

"...Damn...They...Traitors!!!"

But it was already too late, one thing was certain, the worst scenario had begun.

One by one, the Personas opened their eyes to witness the drama.

The orb had compressed into a small ball, which fit into Dora’s hand. Behind him, the crater of the explosion and around him, soul stones.

"What did you do..." Alpha murmured.

"Processing with the final part of the plan. We got enough material to take down the last 2 Avatars, we can’t take Rhea head on thought, we first need..."

"What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Dora met Beta’s eyes, the latter trembling with rage. He raised an eyebrow with little concern. "And what do you mean exactly? You all look so surprised that I should be the one asking this question. What do you think we’re doing here? What have you all been doing these days? You forgot our main objective?"

He snapped his fingers, the entire base glowing bright red, a giant pentagram covering the area.

"How’s it going with the candidate? Is she ready now?" He stared at Alpha, the latter gritting his teeth.

"...Eva... you killed Eva..."

Dora sighed and massaged his sinuses.

"I think we’ve already been there... So, she’s still not ready? Well, you confirm what I thought, I can’t trust any of you, the problem is I’m lacking time and I hate working for nothing, so if you don’t want to follow me, say it now."

"Follow you?" Beta trembled. He stepped forward and grabbed him by the collar.

"Do you think I would want to follow you?! What kind of idiot do you think I am?? I’m sick of this! I’m sick of killing people, I don’t even know.. ." freewёbnoνel.com

"Case solved."

Dora’s eyes glowed yellow.

A yellow aura covered Beta, his eyes glowing the same color.

He began to growl as the light passed through his body, then his eyes lost their light and he fell to his knees.

As his vision blurred he began to lose all feeling, all sense of his surroundings, he couldn’t even remember where he was.

His last sight was of Dora putting a finger on his forehead.

"Now you won’t feel sorry anymore."

His consciousness disappeared, he forgot everything and realized his fate, Dora was erasing his mind.

(...Eh....As expected...)

Everyone looked at the scene speechlessly, but in a fleeting moment, Dora frowned. Beta showed a slight smile and his eyes shone one last time.

"...He will come...Today...Tell them to...Find Rhea...When she comes----"

His eyes closed, turning completely black.

His hands hit the ground, Beta was finally deactivated.

The Personas watched the scene with wide eyes, Gamma and Sigma stepping in front of Marie.

It was over like that, so quickly, it was all it needed to erase one of them, but something still bothered Dora.

"...Why did he say that? Who was he talking to...Oh shit!"

It was then that Dora realized that, in the empty world where Candace was sequestered, there was only one pillar left, in front of a replica of Angelo which was disintegrating, but the dean was nowhere to be found.

In his final moment, Beta used the power of envy to recreate the fallen Holy Knight and help Candace escape.

"Damn you!!!"

His aura burst, the 4 remaining Personas put Zury and Marie between them, but even they knew there was no point in fighting.

"I decided to leave you outside because your power reset every fucking time I summon you, but it turned out to be a bad idea. You’re really throwing everything away because of meaningless relationships? Have you all forgotten that what we are doing is the best solution?"

Their eyes shone with their respective colors, Dora’s clenched his jaw, but his anger was gradually transforming into a little euphoria.

"Ah... What an idiot... Of course, how many of you remember our family loss? You can’t bear the same pain with me, you all seem too good with the situation that you would rather live here forever, it would be useless to talk to you, and I have completely forgotten.. . That I don’t need to convince any of you." His eyes glowed, just like those of the Personas.

At the same time in Ambrosia, the Pseudo-avatars and Gloria were still heading towards the center of the kingdom when a lightning bolt struck the Queen.

"Gah!...What?!"

Black lightning passed through her body, merging into a ball of black energy above her.

The group stopped, they realized at this point that with all the events happening, the Queen was still a checkpoint for Dora.

The ball transformed into a dimensional hole, the shape they feared.

"Oh no... Not now!" Liliana’s eyes shone.

Gloria’s aura ignited in turn, already pointing two fingers together...

"Uh? W-wait!"

The one who fell to the ground had a smaller body constitution.

"...Ouch...I’m getting too old for this." Everyone stood frozen in place for a few seconds before they exploded together.

"D-Dean!!!"

- Midgard’s paradise

The small group consisting of Dora, Midgard, Apophis, Elizabeth, and Peters were in another empty classroom, at Dora’s request, to wait for news.

They decided not to summon the players right away, however, with the death of a specific person, things were different.

"Alright, this is a perfect place for an interrogation. Midgard, do your thing."

"Could you also summon Faffy? I want to have a little chat with him." Elizabeth cracked her fingers.

"What do you take me for? A ghost driver?"

"Not just a ghost driver, my ghost driver." Dora cheered.

They were all waiting impatiently at their desks, much to Midgard’s dismay.

"I swear, you’re only acting like this because we’re not alone... And... Oh... Right now?"

She turned towards the door, footsteps were heard, louder and louder, then the door opened suddenly.

"Well... It’ll save us some trouble."

At the door, the new person in the high school uniform widened her eyes, her pink eyes staring at Dora.
