Perfect Avatar-Chapter 275: Face To Face
Chapter 275: Face To Face
- A day ago, Ambrosia Southern region.
As night fell, the vehicles reached an empty forest devoid of life. They had crossed a desert of rock and debris, leaving the heroes of the Kalaharis in shock.
Just a few weeks ago it was a town with buildings and people, and now it is a land crying for death.
They soon reached a wider alley, knowing that it was a road to the Devil. No one spoke, no one made a sound, they let the landscape defile until the roof of a mansion appeared on the horizon.
The cars stopped a little further on, and one by one, they got off.
Agiel stood in front of everyone, he looked at the mansion for a few seconds before turning to Freya.
"Here we are, just as you wanted. Now, just to be sure, are you planning to take her down? If what you said matches, then even weakened, she should be stronger than you."
Freya nodded to her comrades behind.
"We’re not here for murder, but if it is murder that happen, so be it."
The others nodded, Agiel heaved a deep sigh and entered the portal.
The garden was rather empty, oddly enough, there was no indication that there were people living nearby. Freya was at least waiting for the Nymphs, but no one reacted to the entry of so many warriors.
Agiel placed his fingers on the locket, then lowered his head.
"Prepare for this."
He opened the door and everyone shared a shiver down their spines. An aura of another kind filled the room, one that had not existed before.
It was similar to the pressure of an Avatar, but instead of the usual aggression, it was something closer to grief.
Agiel entered first, followed by Freya, Mercy and Iris, with a little hesitation for the latter, Hope, Cid and Liliana finished the walk.
"...Damn...it looks like a haunted house." Hope whispered.
He glanced at Mercy who was looking around, her eyes showing either calm or seriousness, he quickly closed the distance between them and put on the most serious face he could muster.
"Well, it doesn’t matter, after what happened to the Kalaharis, I don’t think anything can scare me anymore. We’re pseudo-avatars now, so if they come at us, we’re ready."
His little speech proved very effective, as Mercy looked on. He tried to look away, maintaining his facade, but Mercy turned her attention back to the stairs ahead.
"I was close to Dora and Shaka, I saw their fight and I wonder who the idiot is who said a pseudo-avatar was closed off to that."
The knights behind gulped, Hope grimaced and tried to think of a response, but around him the others completely ignored him.
He looked at Cid, the latter holding back a laugh, but that only fueled Hope’s determination.
"No doubt a pseudo-connoisseur, I haven’t bitten into the..."
"Shut up you idiot, do you think it’s time for a joke?" Lilith snapped at him.
He turned to her, ready to give another pun, but everyone around him, friends as knights, gave him a murderous stare.
He coughed nervously and scratched his head. Strangely, his face showed no real sign of deception, just embarrassment for missing an opportunity for a laugh.
"Sorry, I’m just tired of being sad, I’ll be more serious."
"Your presence here is proof that you are all clowns anyway."
The voice coming from the ladders stopped everyone.
Freya glanced at her left, right, and the ceiling, her eyes narrowed and her teeth gritted.
From the shadows of the walls emerged one by one the Queen’s closest confidantes and holders of her will: the Nymphs.
Artesis and Ratoncia were in front of a door on the left, Vixen standing next to a plant on the right, and Nosfera fell from the ceiling like a shadow and landed right in front of Freya.
"We’re not expecting visitors... neither less, people as annoying as you...Leave." Her eyes glowed orange.
Mercy materialized her scythe, her eyes glowing red.
"Be careful how you ask for things, you don’t want that thing."
Nosfera looked at her, then at Freya. She frowned and backed away.
"I see this expedition was worth it."
The 3 remaining maids lined up next to her, all with their orange eyes glowing.
"It’s always the little freak who gets the biggest weapon... But if you think that’ll give you a free pass, you’re as stupid as the citizens your buddy buried in this town." Artesis groaned.
Lilith raised her hammer as well, a subtle red sparkle in her eyes.
"Wanna go? I’ve crushed more humans than monsters in a few weeks, I don’t mind adding a few maids."
They were all ready to attack each other, with the maids at a distinct disadvantage, however, Freya’s eyes glowed purple and a sudden wave of energy passed through the ground.
"Enough. I said I’m not here for murder, so you will all stop your antics, and If anyone here wants to object, then I’ll gladly make them the first corpse."
The maids and knights swallowed, the pressure was very effective since the eyes stopped shining.
Freya looked at the stairs, the strange pressure they could feel increasing, and soon the cause became apparent.
Agharita flinched, all the members of Freya’s group had blood flowing faster in their veins.
Above the stairs, there she was, dressed in black and holding a piece of clothing wrapped around her.
"...My queen?" Vixen murmured.
Gloria was barely recognizable, her face that used to radiate with divine grace and her beauty was now dull and devoid of emotion.
Her hair was disheveled, depression was eating away at her badly and the result was a perfect zombie, nothing about the legend she was.
She gave Freya a disdainful look and stroked the clothes in her arms.
"I don’t want to see anyone, leave."
There was no intensity in her voice, no anger, just a simple, emotionless voice. Freya remembered Agiel’s words, the Queen was no longer the Queen.
"You’ll have to deal with it then, because I have no intention of leaving."
Her fellow comrades with a sin moved forward in turn, standing next to her.
"Remember us? We are the ones you deemed unworthy to fight the Twilight of the Gods, wouldn’t it be fair to grant us an audience now?"
Gloria sighed deeply and for a moment the pressure increased.
"Seriously... If you have the power to go to hell, why are you still coming to me? Do you want to brag? Do you want my approval? Do you want to blame me? Why is it so hard to find peace, even in a cemetery?"
As she said, she hugged the garment tightly to her. Liliana suddenly froze and put her hand over her mouth.
"...What...Freya, what she is holding..."
"I know, I guessed it when I saw her."
Gloria’s eyes shone, the pressure suddenly dropped, but around the Queen the air began to blur.
"I hate a lot of things in this world and you are all of them. Get... out... of here... Now."
Her pressure fell on the mansion, as violent and terrible as before.
The knights had great difficulty standing, but the group around Freya was not phased.
"...Are you challenging me? If you make me move, I will bury you."
Freya closed her eyes and sighed.
"No, you won’t do anything. Because someone made us like this, and if you destroy his work, he’ll make you pay tenfold." freёwebnoѵel.com
The pressure increased again.
"...Brat, do you think I’m afraid of anyone? Don’t underestimate the bounds of my madness, I’ve been here for generations, you can’t fathom how many people like you I sent to a grave."
"Is it the same for your children?
The pressure suddenly dropped, so quickly that some knights fell to their knees at the change.
Gloria glared at Freya, but as the Duchess’s eyes followed another direction, she realized another change in the room.
"...No! Don’t come here now! Go back to your room!"
In front of a door on the left, Solaria had appeared. She was as thin as before, her eyes tired.
Gloria rushed to her and tried to push her towards the room behind, but the princess slapped her mother’s hand.
"...S...Solaria..."
Solaria gave her a nasty look and walked past her without caring. She observed her former comrades with disdain.
"Too bad, you all survived. I wished I’d never see you again."
She locked eyes with Freya, the latter responding with a piercing gaze.
"Eryl is dead."
The maids’ eyes widened, Gloria was frozen, her eyes trembled, but Solaria was barely moved.
"Is that true? Then she would be able to serve Moonra. I didn’t like her anyway."
She massaged her wrist indifferently, in the frail light, several scars covered it.
Everyone noticed this detail and most didn’t know how to react.
Freya took a deep breath and turned to Gloria, the Queen, too moved by the news of Eryl’s death, let her guard down too much and let something appear in full light, on her throat and her left shoulder, her skin had a different color : it was a burn scar.
"...So it was true..."
Gloria noticed her gaze and quickly covered her throat. She looked anxiously at Freya who was in shock.
"Dora took your regeneration power."
