One Piece: New Order-Chapter 59: Battle of Sgri (2)
Chapter 59 - Battle of Sgri (2)
Kong and Zephyr exchanged a look.
Then, with a sonic boom beneath their feet, Kong charged straight at Roger.
Zephyr, on the other hand, shot off toward the Oro Jackson.
The government agent blinked and vanished, reappearing aboard a distant warship, where he took Vice Admiral Quell with him.
...
Still reeling from the last shockwave, Garp and Roger were thrown back and ended up crashing into the sea. Yet, their battle didn't stop—the ocean churned violently around them.
Garp's fists gleamed with dense, pitch-black Armament Haki. He tore through the water like a missile, completely unfazed by the resistance. As he moved, the water split apart before him like it had been cleaved open, sending up waves several meters tall on both sides.
Roger, half-submerged with only his upper body above the surface, spotted Garp charging toward him. He tightened his grip on his sword; Conqueror's Haki crackled around the blade. With both hands, he raised the weapon high and brought it down in a wide diagonal arc.
A massive surge of black sword energy exploded forth, hundreds of meters wide, slicing through the sea. It carved a cylindrical void into the ocean, the water around it sucked away into a spiraling vortex.
Garp's eyes flashed as he stared at the incoming strike. He pulled his right arm back as far as it could go, gathering power. Just before the slash reached him, he threw his punch with a roar.
"Seismic Smash!"
The blood vessels on his right arm bulged as he drove his fist into the center of the colossal sword wave. His Armament Haki flared around the attack at the same time.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
With a thunderous shout, veins popped on his face from the effort. A deafening boom echoed across the horizon, and a giant crater opened in the sea, hundreds of meters wide. The enormous slash, now wrapped in Haki, abruptly reversed course.
Behind it, Garp kicked off the water's surface, generating another sonic boom. Skimming just above the ocean, he rocketed forward like a cannonball.
Roger glanced at the returning slash and gave a faint scoff. With a fluid motion, he raised his blade again; Conqueror's Haki raging along its edge. As the attack neared, he struck.
His sword met the colossal wave of energy, and the sheer force lifted him out of the water. His feet skimmed the ocean surface as he was dragged backward at high speed.
Twin fountains of water exploded on either side of him as he slid. With a slight shift of his left foot, he repositioned.
Holding the sword with both hands, he twisted his torso from front right to back left and unleashed a powerful slash behind him.
A second, smaller wave of sword energy shot out.
The two slashes spiraled together, merging mid-flight into a twin-bladed vortex that hurtled toward Kong, who was rapidly closing in on the battlefield.
Sensing the oncoming danger, the Fleet Admiral enveloped himself in Armament Haki. He stomped on air and shot into the sky, leaping over the spiraling attacks. As he passed above, he thrust his palm downward.
A burst of invisible Haki exploded from his hand and struck the combined slashes dead center.
Seconds later, both attacks detonated midair.
The resulting shockwave propelled Kong forward, even faster than before, sending him straight toward Roger.
While airborne, he pulled his arms back to his waist; Armament Haki surged and condensed along his forearms, shaping them into pointed cones like drills.
Then, with a powerful swing, he launched a barrage.
Afterimages flashed in rapid succession. Countless conical blasts of compressed Haki streaked through the sky, resembling a swarm of missiles.
Roger saw the sky filled with those piercing projectiles closing in. He raised his sword to block the ones in front.
Clang!
One of the conical blasts struck his blade with a sharp, ringing sound. Then a bright white flash erupted, energy rippling outward.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—
More conical blasts rained down, forming a storm that completely surrounded Roger. The projectile on his sword suddenly detonated, triggering the rest in a chain reaction.
BOOM!
A titanic explosion erupted, engulfing Roger in a blinding blast. The sea beneath him collapsed, forming a crater hundreds of meters across that continued to widen with the force.
Before it could reach its limit, a streak of blade light flashed from the center of the blast. A tornado-like black slash burst skyward violently. It shredded the shockwaves from the explosion, turning the air into wild, howling winds.
At the heart of the blast, Roger stood firm. He looked at the two figures charging at him from opposite directions.
A flicker of rage flashed in his eyes.
With both hands gripping his sword, Conqueror's Haki swirling around him, he swung once more.
...
Aboard the Oro Jackson.
The crew quickly steered the ship away from the battlefield where Sengoku, Rayleigh, and Gaban were still clashing.
They headed straight for Garp's battleship.
Suddenly, Zephyr dropped from the sky, slamming onto the deck like a meteor. The wooden boards cracked beneath him, splinters flying in every direction.
Everyone on board tensed instantly.
The towering Nozdon rushed out first. Nearly four meters tall, his entire body was packed with bulging muscles, radiating sheer brutality.
With a savage bellow, he threw a Haki-coated fist directly at Zephyr. The air around it howled under the pressure.
The admiral didn't flinch. His arms darkened with Armament Haki. He stepped forward with his left foot and pulled back his right fist.
Whoosh!
A piercing sound sharper than the howling wind rang out. Before anyone could react, Zephyr's fist had already rocketed forward, smashing into Nozdon's punch head-on.
Boom!
Two fists collided with a thunderous roar. A burst of compressed air exploded from the impact, sweeping out in all directions.
Nozdon's expression changed immediately. His thick, Haki-hardened arm trembled violently with pulsing veins. He was being overwhelmed.
Zephyr stood firm, completely unfazed. His blackened fist pushed forward with even more power.
Crack!
A sickening sound of bone snapping echoed out. Nozdon's face twisted in pain as sweat poured down his cheeks.
He flew backward, clutching his arm, and crashed into the ship's railing. Gritting his teeth, he struggled to get back up, still holding his injured limb.
But Zephyr was already in front of him. The cold, merciless black fist filled Nozdon's vision as a heavy iron hand gripped his throat.
Unable to breathe, he thrashed helplessly as Zephyr raised his right fist, ready to end it with a single blow. But just then, the rest of the crew rushed in to attack.
Leading the assault was Sunbell, a tall fish-man with a bulky, almost fat appearance. But beneath what looked like layers of fat hid immense strength. A blackened trident tore through the air with a sharp whistle, aiming for the admiral's temple.
Danger surged in Zephyr's instincts, but he showed no trace of mercy like in the past. He raised his right hand and blocked the incoming trident.
Clang!
At the same time, his left hand yanked Nozdon's neck toward him. His left knee, coated in Armament Haki, shot up with force.
Crack!
Nozdon's skull shattered from the blow. Bone fragments pierced through his skin, and his entire face caved in.
Without pause, Zephyr's hand unclenched just long enough to slam a fist down on the back of Nozdon's head.
Boom!
Blood splattered across the deck. The towering man crumpled to the floor, unmoving.
"Nozdon!"
"You bastard!"
"ZEPHYR!!!"
Cries of rage echoed across the ship.
Zephyr ignored them. He grabbed the trident still locked against his right hand and tore it free.
"Agghhh!"
Veins bulged across his face as he roared, voice rough and violent. Using just one arm, he hoisted Sunbell—still gripping the trident—and hurled him down hard.
Boom!
The trident jerked backward with a jolt, pulling the fallen Sunbell through the air.
Zephyr's eyes locked onto his hands still clutching the weapon. He stomped down with his left foot, now coated in Armament Haki.
Crack!
...
Far off in the distance, Rayleigh and Gaban, locked in fierce battle with Sengoku, suddenly turned their heads toward the Oro Jackson.
Their expressions darkened.
They tried to break away and race back to the ship. But the momentary distraction gave Sengoku the opening he needed.
The towering golden Buddha slammed both palms down toward them, golden light erupting in every direction.
Hummmm—!
BOOM!!!
A huge mushroom cloud rose hundreds of meters into the sky.
...
Elsewhere, in the midst of his clash with Kong and Garp, Roger suddenly sensed it—his crewmate's presence vanishing.
Bloodshot fury surged into his eyes as an overwhelming aura exploded from his body. With a primal roar, he repelled both Marines, desperate to break through and return to his ship.
But the sharp sound of slicing wind came from behind. Kong and Garp came crashing in, intercepting him once more. Even in his berserk rage, Roger found himself being overwhelmed by their combined assault.
Black and purple lightning crackled furiously from his body, his murderous intent lashing out in waves.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!...
