One Piece: New Order-Chapter 58: Battle of Sgri (1)
Chapter 58 - Battle of Sgri (1)
On the deck of the Oro Jackson, Roger watched as Garp charged straight at him.
"Can't let you wreck my ship," he muttered.
With a burst of strength from his foot, he launched himself forward. His sword gripped tightly in both hands, Roger let Conqueror's Haki erupt, spiraling around the blade in crackling black streams. He slashed at Garp, who was now almost upon him.
Clang!
Their attacks collided—Roger's Haki-infused sword clashing against Garp's jet-black iron fist. Steel met flesh, Haki met Haki. Inches apart, they grinned at each other, eyes locked, killing intent pouring from both.
"Ahhhh!!!"
"Ahhhh!!!"
The two men roared simultaneously, muscles bulging, veins pulsing across their faces as they unleashed their full power.
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted between them. A circular shockwave rippled outward, expanding who knew how far.
Roger adjusted himself mid-air and instantly vanished, racing toward the battlefield where Sakazuki and Whitebeard were clashing.
Garp slammed his foot down on air, unleashing a white sonic boom several meters wide beneath him as he took off once more, intercepting Roger with relentless momentum.
...
Meanwhile, Sengoku appeared on top of the Oro Jackson.
Rayleigh and Gaban moved at the same time. Weapons in hand—a sword and a pair of axes—they leapt into the air, striking in unison. Each weapon was coated in Armament Haki, crashing down with force aimed at the golden giant.
The towering golden Buddha, over tens of meters tall, raised a hand in response and pressed down, blocking the incoming attacks.
Clang!
A sharp metallic sound rang through the sky as the two sides locked in place. Without a word, Sengoku activated his Devil Fruit. Rayleigh and Gaban's pupils shrank as they sensed the shift.
Below, their ship's surface glowed faintly as they projected Armament Haki around it.
From Sengoku's palm, a massive, semi-transparent shockwave burst into existence.
It slammed directly onto the Oro Jackson, shaking the ship violently.
The shockwave turned golden, illuminating the sky as it exploded with blinding brilliance.
Boom!
The blast was deafening. Golden light flared like a miniature sun, too bright to look at directly from afar. The explosion expanded with terrifying force, turning the sea below into towering waves that crashed in all directions.
Everyone on the ship was shaken, some more than others. Shanks and Buggy, still young, were hit hardest. Dazed and bleeding from their mouths, they staggered from the shock.
Cracks spread across the body of the Oro Jackson, splitting its sturdy frame.
Rayleigh and Gaban exchanged a look, a silent understanding passing between them. Haki surged in their arms, and invisible pressure rippled around them as they shot upward at Sengoku.
Their weapons struck with full force, clashing against the golden palm. The impact sent the admiral reeling slightly, but he quickly regained his stance.
Without pause, the two men pursued, weapons gleaming. Sengoku's golden form was now completely covered in Armament Haki.
Clang!
The sword and axes stabbed directly into the towering golden figure's chest, but it didn't budge an inch.
Expressionless, Sengoku's eyes flashed with golden light. Both of his arms rose, cutting through the air with a sharp sound. His hands glowed as energy swirled. Translucent rings of shockwaves formed between his palms as he brought them together.
Rayleigh and Gaban shot backward. Just before the palms met, they escaped the center of the impact zone.
Dong—!
Sengoku's huge golden palms clapped together with a deep, resonant sound that echoed like a temple bell, strangely calming yet filled with power.
As the two retreated, the golden Buddha remained still. Then, with both palms still pressed together, he thrust them forward. The fused shockwaves between his hands exploded into a giant beam of golden energy, dozens of meters thick, that tore through the sky at them.
Rayleigh and Gaban's eyes widened. There was no time to dodge.
The beam attacked them head-on, driving their bodies deep into the seafloor.
BOOOM!!!
Golden light exploded beneath the waves, expanding in every direction. The sea's surface was hollowed out by the blast, forming a crater hundreds of meters wide before it began to slowly close.
Sengoku looked down at the ocean, still calm. The two weren't dead. He could sense their auras moving quickly below.
Suddenly, a golden flash lit up his eyes. He raised his hand and struck toward a direction.
Clang!
...
At the fractured peak of the Precipice Blade, the black mist and volcanic ash were growing thicker.
The environment didn't affect Sakazuki much, but for Whitebeard, it started to become troublesome. Even with a body far stronger than most in the world, he still needed to breathe. The constant inhalation of smoke and ash irritated his lungs. He felt the itch building, threatening to become a cough.
Whitebeard made a decision.
Power surged at his feet, and a massive atmospheric crack formed beneath him. The shockwave launched his entire body skyward; he aimed to break free of the black from above.
Somewhere within the dark mist, Sakazuki's crimson eyes gleamed. Between his palms, a single spark flared to life. Like a flicker of lightning, it danced through the entire cloud in an instant.
As Whitebeard surged upward, every hair on his body stood on end. He stopped in midair.
A deep sense of danger pounded in his mind.
He tossed his naginata in the air, then activated his Devil Fruit, striking in all directions. In the blink of an eye, countless atmospheric cracks formed, wrapping around him like a shell. He caught his falling weapon in one hand and struck skyward with the other, completing the final point.
The entire cloud of volcanic ash and smoke had become a giant bomb.
The tiny spark from Sakazuki was the fuse.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A violent explosion erupted in the sky, forming a massive mushroom cloud. It spread for an unknown distance. Even the towering Precipice Blade looked like a blade of grass beneath it.
The remaining part of the sword kept collapsing.
Roger and Garp, approaching from a distance, were blown backward by the heatwave, forced to retreat through the air.
The two caught in the center of the explosion endured something unimaginable.
At Whitebeard's location, numerous fine cracks filled the air, wrapping around him like a giant cocoon. But his arms were ruined—muscles torn, blood vessels burst.
He coughed continuously, blood streaming from his mouth. His chest heaved as he struggled to breathe.
Right before the explosion, a powerful sense of danger had surged through Whitebeard's mind, triggering every nerve in his body. Without hesitation, he activated his Devil Fruit with both fists.
Wave after wave of shock force exploded around him. He didn't even know how many punches he had thrown in that brief span. Only when his muscles tore and his veins burst did the overwhelming sense of danger finally begin to fade.
He stopped using his power, but the damage had already taken its toll. The intense vibrations within him had shaken his limbs and internal organs. Blood kept spilling from his mouth as the cracks around him slowly faded.
Whitebeard's eyes locked onto a distant point, filled with killing intent.
At the base of the shattered Precipice Blade, just a little above the sea, Sakazuki's form began to slowly reappear.
If the force of an attack was strong enough, even a Logia user couldn't avoid all the damage.
Compared to Whitebeard, Sakazuki had fared a bit better, but not by much. The violent explosion had torn through his magma body. Though the physical pain was far less than what his opponent endured, the mental torment was far greater.
As he reformed his body, he trembled, unable to fully control himself. His recovery was much slower than before. After a dozen seconds, only half his form had reassembled. Blood streamed from his nose and mouth as he forced his body back together.
Half-submerged in magma, he raised his head and looked at Whitebeard, the cracks surrounding him were slowly fading.
Sakazuki's trembling body was soaked in cold sweat. He tried to give a mocking grin. His mouth twitched but never curled.
The searing pain still tore through him. He couldn't control his body enough to make even the simplest expression. As he struggled to reassemble himself, he kept his eyes locked on Whitebeard above.
The two men's murderous intent clashed in midair, twisting the sky and stirring the winds.
...
In the New World, the Shiki's fleet had finally assembled.
Dozens of pirate ships floated under his control, all turning in a single direction. Shiki stood at the bow of the lead vessel, arms crossed. His golden hair billowed in the wind as he looked ahead.
"Roger! Newgate! Wait for me, damn it! Shihahahahahaha!!!"
His loud, arrogant laughter echoed through the skies, spreading in all directions.
...
At Marineford, the Marine Headquarters, orders had been issued.
After a brief but firm discussion, ship after ship set sail from the harbor, heading toward the Red Line.
Kong and Zephyr were the first to be sent to G4 Branch through a government-affiliated Devil Fruit user.
The main fleet followed under the command of Vice Admiral Morris, current head of the Marine Academy.
Enel appeared aboard Sakazuki's warship, departing alongside Carlo toward the New World.
By dusk...
Above the seas near Marine G4 Branch, three figures suddenly emerged.
Fleet Admiral Kong and Admiral Zephyr had joined the battle.
