Mythology Rebooted-Chapter 445 - 202 That was a stormy Christmas Eve
Chapter 445: Chapter 202 That was a stormy Christmas Eve
Jianhe County, movie theater.
In the midst of his busy schedule, Wayne remembered that he was still a junior leader. He drove to the Jianhe County base to check in, and while he was at it, he brought a box of ancient books for the artistic young girl, and casually asked her out to watch a movie during afternoon tea time.
It was said to be watching a movie, but it was actually a date.
The artistic young girl, Odelia, refused the date, expressing only mild interest in monster-themed movies. However, for the sake of the treasured ancient books, she was willing to appreciate the movie starring her friend.
Watching a movie together ≠ date.
Good news: The ticket checker doesn’t have to get angry enough to throw their ticket punch anymore.
Bad news: Wayne has another midnight show tonight, and the High Priest hasn’t yet enjoyed the masterpiece!
In the private screening room, Odelia sipped her drink with small mouthfuls, next to her was Wayne holding popcorn, both chatting and laughing, the topic always revolving around that vanished history.
Odelia has a gentle and quiet temperament, elegant without being ostentatious, possessing a settled mind that hardly matches her age, as if every movement had been rehearsed in her mind before being executed flawlessly.
Wayne guessed her upbringing must have been very strict.
About Odelia’s family background, Wayne had inquired before, but she brushed it off without going into detail, and he didn’t feel it right to pry further, so the matter was dropped.
After spending time together several times, Wayne thought he understood Odelia: calmness was just the surface. In reality, Odelia wasn’t much different from other college-aged girls—eager for knowledge, rebellious, craving new challenges, and filled with a spirit of adventure.
Due to her strict upbringing, she buried these traits deep within herself, pouring them all into books.
Even though she was a disciple of the Nature Goddess, her faith wasn’t firm, she had an independent character, very much the spirit of a Liberty Mage.
Coincidentally, Wayne was that kind of person as well. He and Odelia shared common topics and the same keen interest in that lost history which naturally resulted in her seeing him as a friend.
She didn’t have many friends, and found it hard to refuse the invitation, so she put down her cherished books and came to the movie theater to accompany Wayne.
But soon, the artistic young girl was captivated by the art film, praising Director Wallace as a genius while endlessly complimenting Wayne’s acting prowess.
Seeing Wayne sacrificing his life for love could make even the composed Odelia tear up.
"Don’t be sad, this is just an art form."
Wayne seized the opportunity to grab the artistic young girl’s hand, "If you feel envious, break free of your shackles and go for it. As a friend, I’ll support you wholeheartedly."
"It’s not the same, my situation is a bit complicated, I can’t make sacrifices for love like you do..."
Mid-sentence, Odelia realized something was amiss. She looked at her captured hand, then gave Wayne an irritated glance.
I think of you as a friend, and you’re trying to hit on me?
"What’s wrong, go on!"
Confused, Wayne urged Odelia to continue.
Odelia pulled, pulled her hand away, and gave Wayne a cold stare, "You’re quite the charmer with girls, you must have lots of girlfriends, right?"
"Single, thanks."
Wayne replied smoothly, continuing the conversation since he didn’t hear the response he hoped for, "Like that kissing scene on the boat, it was actually shot off-kilter; my first kiss is still waiting to be given away!"
Odelia covered her mouth and snickered; she was well-read, especially in history, and knew not to fall for such talk.
"You laughing like this makes me lose face."
"Then how should I react?"
"You should be curious about when I will give away my first kiss, which girl would be so lucky, and then I would answer, that girl is right here in the screening room," Wayne said seriously while joking.
After saying this, he laughed first.
Odelia didn’t laugh but looked at Wayne intently, her frowning appearance as if she was considering seriously.
"You can’t be serious, you really want it?"
Surprised, Wayne pointed at his puckered lips, "We’re just friends, you tell me, how should we kiss? I promise not to resist."
Odelia finally burst out laughing, candidly saying, "You’re a good person, and I’m happy to be friends, but being your girlfriend, forget it, I’d probably live a very tiresome life."
"How do you know if you don’t try?" Wayne encouraged, insisting that science is precise and demands empirical evidence; speculation shouldn’t be taken as an answer.
Odelia wasn’t fooled, watching the closing credits intently, "I’m really envious of you, doing whatever you want, making movies or skipping work, going wherever you desire."
"You can do it too!"
"..."
Odelia shook her head, then continued, "The movie was very nice, I want to watch it again."
Wayne checked his watch, "Sure, we have plenty of time, I’ll go buy the tickets."
"You’re in a rush?"
"Yeah, I have a date tonight, going back to Lundan to watch a movie with my girlfriend."
"..."
Odelia rolled her eyes, surprised by the unexpected answer, even more envious of Wayne, who spoke his mind without any reservations.
...
The second show ended, and inside the projection room, college girls from the university town cried like rain on pear blossoms. Boyfriends comforted them with warm words, seizing the opportunity to be gallant, swearing they would also sacrifice their lives for love, earning themselves a rewarding kiss.
Wayne, with half his face covered by a scarf, quietly congratulated himself as the Pure Love War God. It was a good thing he was prepared and protected his face in advance; otherwise, if female fans swarmed him for a kiss, it would be awkward whether he agreed or not.
If he agreed, the boyfriends would be single on the spot; if not, the leading actor would be accused of acting haughty and disrespecting his fans.
Being an idol is too hard!
Odelia watched the cuddling young couples with a complex expression, likely envy.
She swayed slightly, finding herself embraced by Wayne, and when she looked up, a mouth was slowly leaning in.
