Chapter 417: Chapter 192: I will report to the Emperor and have you punished for the grave crime of disrespect_3
Veronica!
Wayne: (¬_¬)
How could this little fool be at the train station with a suitcase in tow? I didn’t hear anything about her taking a long trip.
Feeling Wayne’s gaze, Veronica tried to hide, but Wayne caught up in two steps and pulled her out from behind her luggage by the collar.
"Wayne, what a coincidence, you’re also here to see off a friend!"
"Hmm, who are you seeing off?"
"You, of course!"
"Who told you I..."
"Veronica."
"Then what’s with the suitcase?"
"Just in case you invite me along for the trip. Trains don’t wait for anyone, so I brought it just in case."
"Uh, did you buy a ticket?"
"Not at all!"
Veronica stood with one hand on her hip and the other on her suitcase, her illogical reasoning strangely convincing.
Seeing Mona holding a dog leash, Veronica called out "Sister" and broke away from Wayne to approach her.
"Who said this girl was dumb? She’s clearly a little smarty-pants; she nearly had me fooled," Wayne muttered to his entourage, instructing them to add an extra ticket—a train ticket and a boat ticket.
No, two tickets.
Wayne looked around and released his perception to search for Veronica, guessing, based on his experiences on Dragonheart Island, that where Veronica was, Veronica would surely be nearby.
The Dragon Blood Girl is too proud; getting her to chase after men is out of the question, but when it comes to chasing after her best friend, there’s no problem at all.
On further thought, Wayne realized that Veronica had deliberately leaked the information to Veronica, who took the bait and cleared the path ahead—a high-end strategic move.
"The abacus beads have hit me straight in the face; if I weren’t so thick-skinned, it could have killed me..."
Wayne extended his perception in search of Veronica again. After three unsuccessful attempts, he decisively gave up.
He guessed that she had already arrived but was too proud to show herself, unable to match Veronica’s straightforward openness, and so she hid somewhere out of sight.
"Playing hide and seek, huh? I know the rules. If I find you, I’ll have a good laugh," Wayne thought, just as the last two members of the party arrived.
Two ladies, one older, one younger.
They came from the Magic Department’s Head Office, the older one a Secretary Officer and the younger her assistant—not a temp, but a full-fledged employee.
According to Austin, the two Secretary Officers came from another Knight Order serving the Queen.
The Windsor Royal Family officially has three Knight Orders: the Army’s Royal Guard, also known as the Royal Guard; the Royal Cavalry Guard, also known as the Glorious Knight Order; and the Garter Knight Order, symbolized by a garter and also known as the Order of the Garter.
Unlike the Black Glove Tulip Family, the Order of the Garter is the Queen’s protector, a supreme knight system under Windsor, and the white gloves in the Queen’s hands.
All the leaders of the Knight Order, including the King who wears the sole Order of the Garter medal, range from Princes to Princesses, and from Dukes to Baron knights, with 26 members each sporting a garter.
The garter indeed denotes high society, but paired with the Knight Order’s motto, "Shame to him who thinks evil of it", the prestige immediately ramps up.
Centered on the Order of the Garter, the Royal Family has cultivated a loyalty-driven elite nobility. Although the two Secretary Officers are not true Knight Order members, they operate within its system, bearing the Queen’s commands.
Without these two confidantes, Wayne couldn’t have received the Queen’s orders, nor could he have seized estates or executed sentences.
"Sir Wayne, sorry to have kept you waiting."
The two ladies bowed their heads—one tall, one short. Though it was their fault for arriving late, their attitude post-delay was very proper, and their apology was quite polite. freewёbnoνel.com
Wayne nodded and sized up the two Secretary Officers—one mature and charming, the other youthful and pretty, resembling each other somewhat, probably related by blood.
After a brief exchange, Wayne learned their names.
Sandy Sanders.
Denise Sanders.
Aunt and niece, indeed relatives.
...
The Magic Department, being wealthy and powerful, booked six luxurious train carriages, comfortably transporting everyone as they left Lundan, heading for the city of Liverpool, northwest of Windsor.
They first took a train to the port city, then crossed the Irish Sea Strait by cruise ship to reach the Republic of Ireland, and afterward traveled by land to Northern Ireland.
The route was customized by Wayne, who believed that although the Magic Department had concealed Aub’s death, the Snow Family had not caught wind of it and still thought their chief was alive.
But those in the know, knew that friends abound in all walks of life, and the Magic Department was like a sieve, having made a fortune by selling intelligence; so to prevent an ambush by the Snow Family, they avoided a direct route and opted for a detour through the Republic of Ireland instead.
Hearing Wayne’s logical analysis, Austin thought he had too much time on his hands, deeming it a complete waste of time.
Even if there was an ambush, with the secrets that Wayne carried, he would dispatch as many from the Snow Family as came.
Since Wayne displayed his capabilities on this journey, and it was neither a minor nor a major assessment, Austin didn’t interfere, letting him take charge. He arranged the route and prepared all the transportation, ensuring a smooth journey straight to the destination.
Dining car.
Wayne, with Mona on his left and Verily on his right, leisurely solved lunch on the train, and during the meal, he fed Verily a few times, showing her considerable affection.

She wanted to be fed too, anything would do.
Sitting across the dining table were Aunt Sandy and her niece, the charming aunt still single, and the youthful, beautiful niece without a boyfriend.
Wayne had a way with women, his witty and flirtatious banter thoroughly charmed the aunt, causing her to flutter, while the niece was beaming with smiles, both showing quite a fondness for him.
After lunch ended, the gentlemanly Wayne escorted the two women back to their carriage before leaving with the older and younger lady in tow.
Denise peeked at Wayne as he left, curiously asking, "Sir Wayne’s female secretary is so beautiful, but who is that girl named Verily? She doesn’t seem to be on the list."
"Just a playboy’s prey."
"Verily?"
"Both of them."
"???"
Seeing Denise shocked, Aunt Sandy said earnestly, "Don’t you think Sir Wayne’s words sound very pleasant, as if he’s courting us?"
"Ah, this..."
Denise was even more astounded. Although, on second thought, it seemed there might actually be that possibility.
"I can’t believe he’s that kind of man; I thought he was a good guy!"
"Don’t be silly. If he were serious, why would he bring two dishes and invite us to the dining car?"
"Auntie, it’s too profound for me; I’m a bit confused."
"Sir Wayne’s message is simple; he’s not a good man, skilled in charming women, advising us to keep our distance," Sandy explained.
"A bad man who reveals his identity and warns us to stay away from him – isn’t that a good man?" Denise questioned.
Thump!
Aunt Sandy knocked on her niece’s head, exasperated, "Silly girl, his badness is written all over his face, how could you only hear sweet words?"
"But his words do sound... nice," Denise uttered weakly, covering her head.
"That’s upbringing. Do you know who Sir Wayne’s father is?"
"The Lando Family; it can only be Mister Austin Lando."
"Exactly, like father, like son. Let me tell you about the old womanizer’s romantic tales, then you’ll know how dangerous the young one is."
"Mm-hmm."
