Chapter 391: Chapter 184 Superior to Divine Blood

"I’m taking her with me today!"

Wayne said decisively, setting down Kris and shielding her behind him.

Kris ducked behind Wayne, her words slurred, her head spinning, her little heart pounding wildly, her eyes on the verge of tearing up.

But soon, her gaze turned icy, one arm wrapped around Wayne’s chest and abdomen, one hand on her own chest, palms resting on both their hearts, their heartbeats gradually syncing.

What are you doing, senior?

Wayne watched the Thousand-Eyed Demon warily, puzzled by Kris’s small movements, knowing that his previous words had been bold, but now was not the time for affection.

Calm down, we’ll have plenty of time at home after the battle.

A halo of moonlight radiated from Kris, enveloping herself in a dim light that also encompassed Wayne.

A strange energy flowed through Kris’s palms into Wayne’s chest, the Essence of Life he craved the most, extracted by the Alchemy Array, purified before being injected into Kris and then transferred to Wayne.

Beyond the Four Elements of earth, fire, water, and air, the energy contained things that could only be implied but not described.

The expulsion and the devouring of the Dark Moon;

The embrace and tranquility of the Waning Moon;

The vigor and strengthening of the New Moon;

The purification and balance of the Full Moon.

The four phases represented the essence of the Moonlight Church’s beliefs, with complexities far beyond the aforementioned concepts; Wayne had received an abridged version of the Moon Shadow Tome with categorized spells.

However, the Moon Shadow Tome only recorded magic and collated knowledge, far less straightforward than what Kris bestowed upon Wayne. According to The Book of Greed, this feast was delectably appetizing and deserved a taste.

Awoo!

It’s healed again.

Kris imparted a vast array of knowledge to Wayne, more extensive than the Divine Arts of the Golden Mage, Dorin; without the realm of a Legendary Mage, such profound learning couldn’t be assimilated.

Indeed, this was the case; all of this knowledge came from Aubrey, who, in an attempt to break his own limits and step from the Legendary Realm into the Demigod Realm, crammed all of his knowledge into the mind of the Divine Child.

A common Mage would have gone mad; even Divine Blood couldn’t handle it. To achieve a critical step, Aubrey transferred all the negatives to Dorin’s adoptive children using the Alchemy Array.

As a result, the Moonlight Church’s base in Lundan was wiped out, and the fruits of victory went to Kris, to be ultimately harvested by Aubrey.

Aubrey had high hopes for Kris, believing that Divine Blood could create miracles, not entering the Divine Nation, independent of all other beliefs, and carving out a new faith.

Because of the difficulty, Aubrey drew inspiration from the Storms and Thunder God, bringing back a belief lost to the annals of history, and in doing so, becoming the new Storms and Thunder God himself.

Aubrey never intended to join the Moonlight Church, nor did he plan to enter the Divine Nation, and pledge his allegiance to the Moonlight Goddess. Dorin knew nothing, and Wayne failed to extract the corresponding intelligence, only knowing that The Book of Greed enjoyed the meal immensely.

He controlled The Book of Greed, returning the Essence of Life back to Kris, in moderate amounts as he didn’t lack that bit.

But the knowledge, he gladly accepted.

On the cover of The Book of Greed, the small eyeball representing moonlight shone brilliantly, overshadowing the darkness, rising above the sun, chasing nature itself.

"Release the girl!"

The Thousand-Eyed Demon’s face changed drastically, waving his hand to swirl out a mass of darkness towards Wayne.

He wasn’t going for a killing blow, he intended to capture her alive.

With years of cunning, the old devil’s gaze was sharp and experienced; he instantly noticed Kris had transferred her power to the young Mage.

Power on the Divine Child and on the young Mage, were two entirely different concepts.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon disdained the body of a little Mage; it was the Divine Blood that was his bet, and to secure a living vessel of that blood, he descended to the mortal realm, forsaking all territories in Hell – it wasn’t an exaggeration to say he had wagered everything, and couldn’t let the little Mage become the ultimate winner.

To capture the little Mage and retrieve the knowledge—what was his would remain his, irrevocable by anyone!

The dark energy rolled down.

Illusion, weakness, rage, distortion...

Purely mental negative buffs, a series of intellect-decreasing effects on thought—a tried and true method for the Thousand-Eyed Demon, with which he assimilated countless Mages, absorbing them into his being. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Despite his severely regressed strength and his true form being ground against the earth by Mona and Philomena, facing Wayne with only a splinter of his consciousness, his realm remained unchanged—the distortion of thought was his special skill, confident that with one move he would subdue the little Mage for himself.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon cackled coldly, in need of a Familiar, and the young Mage would do just fine.

The dark fog twisted, obliterating Wayne and Kris from view.

The Thousand-Eyed Demon waited a moment, the smile on his face gradually disappearing, replaced by surprise and disbelief.

What kind of little Mage could defy the will of God?

Boom!

A maelstrom of Magic Power exploded, its force spreading, shattering the dense black fog, revealing a pale body with tentacles emerging in front of the Thousand-Eyed Demon.

No face, skin wrinkled, proliferative tissues crisscrossed and bulging, a vertical slit in the chest and abdomen, with a massive single eye emitting a mad aura.

"What is this..."

The Thousand-Eyed Demon stared dumbfounded. He wanted to describe the life before him as a monster but hesitated as he found a unique beauty in it.

Especially that Great Eyeball, making him salivate almost uncontrollably.

"Isn’t this a magical being created by God, untouched by the corruption of the stars?"

The Thousand-Eyed Demon murmured to himself. He had seen many great scenes as a Devil; referencing the art before him, it was not like Heaven or Hell, nor like any of the known gods. He looked for a long time, yet couldn’t pinpoint its origin.
