Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory-Chapter 135: Priest Maya
Chapter 135: Priest Maya
As soon as Ethan said those words, Emily fell silent.
She turned her gaze toward Seraphina, who was nestled in Ethan’s arms, her eyes flickering with intense emotion.
Ignorance is bliss.
It sounded a little mocking, but it was undeniably true.
After witnessing the overwhelming power of the Crimson Ultimate hero firsthand, how could she not yearn for that level of strength? Even if she was still weak and insignificant now, how could she not crave it?
There was a time when a Purple Epic hero had seemed like the pinnacle of power to her—an unshakable mountain towering above all.
But now?
Once you’ve seen the ocean, every other lake looks like nothing more than a pond.
"I’ll do my best!" Emily said firmly, looking straight at Ethan.
Ethan blinked in surprise, then reached out and ruffled her hair with a smile. "Alright, let’s head to Dunmire first."
"Mm..."
Before long, Emily and Ethan each mounted their Tier 10 Thunderbirds and took off, soaring toward Dunmire, the capital of the Unicorn Duchy.
Meanwhile, at the Grand Ducal Palace of the Unicorn Duchy...
Grand Duke Theodore was absolutely furious.
He was so enraged he was practically jumping up and down.
"What—what did you just say?!"
"Helena, Liora, and Gideon are all dead?!"
"What the hell happened?! Ignatius—where is he?! Where is he right now?!"
Theodore nearly passed out from sheer rage.
Losing unit heroes in battle was a huge deal.
Why?
Because unit heroes don’t revive instantly. They require a resurrection period, which varies depending on their Tier—anywhere from a few months to several years!
And Theodore’s core team was already small to begin with.
He only had a handful of key figures under his command:
Liora, a Tier 6 Vestal hero
Griffith, a Tier 6 Royal Griffin hero
Ignatius, an Tier 8 Blazing Griffin Knight
Gideon, an Tier 8 Holy Crusader
Rhett, an Tier 8 Rainbow Swordsman
Seymour, a Tier 9 Radiant Spirit hero
Helena, a Tier 10 Paladin
And now?
Just like that, only three of them were left.
How could he not be furious?
How the hell was he supposed to accept this?!
Losing his unit heroes meant he was now completely alone, with no one left to command!
On a smaller scale, this meant that for the next few months—or even years—he’d have to bow his head to the other Castle faction lords, relying on their goodwill just to survive.
On a larger scale, this could even jeopardize his position as ruler of the Unicorn Duchy!
Because while the Eight Grand Duchies were all part of the Light Alliance, that was only for external affairs.
Internally? They were rivals—constantly invading each other, expanding their own territories whenever possible.
If the other duchies caught wind of this disaster, how could they not seize the opportunity to make a move?
And that wasn’t even considering the four marquises within the Unicorn Duchy itself. None of them were pushovers. If they saw a chance to climb higher, would any of them just sit back and do nothing?
Of course not.
And then there was the cost of resurrection—which was astronomical.
Reviving a unit hero cost dozens, even hundreds of times more than reviving a regular unit of the same Tier and race. The higher the Tier, the more insanely expensive the resurrection.
But the worst part?
Unit heroes lose levels when they revive.
And for a unit hero, level was everything.
It determined their stats, the strength of their abilities, and ultimately, their overall power.
So when a unit hero dies, the loss to their lord is devastating—both in terms of resources and raw strength.
"Ignatius and his team spotted traces of an Infernal Lord deep within Molten Gold Gorge, but they walked right into an ambush. The power gap was just too overwhelming, so in the end, only he and Griffith managed to break through and escape!"
A Tier 6 Royal Griffin hero like Griffith and a Tier 8 Blazing Griffin Knight like Ignatius—both were flying unit heroes, which gave them a natural advantage. They were much harder to pin down, so they hadn’t been the primary targets of the enemy’s assault...
Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t have made it out alive either.
"An Infernal Lord?"
Grand Duke Theodore’s expression shifted, his face tightening in surprise. "Are you sure? What the hell are Infernal Lords doing in the main world?"
"I don’t know..." Rhett, the Rainbow Swordsman, said grimly. "But whatever it is, it can’t be good."
Theodore fell silent for a moment, then abruptly stood up and strode out of the Grand Ducal Palace.
Before long, he arrived at a radiant white temple, its surroundings bathed in a soft, holy glow.
All around the temple, Tier 10 Priests stood in solemn ranks. The moment they saw Grand Duke Theodore approach, they immediately straightened and bowed in greeting.
"Greetings, Grand Duke Theodore..."
"Where is Priest Maya?" Theodore asked without preamble.
A warm, serene voice answered him.
"What brings you here, Grand Duke Theodore?"
A middle-aged woman, exuding an aura of divine grace, stepped forward to meet him.
This was no ordinary priest—she was none other than Priest Maya, one of the Two Pillars of Stability in the Unicorn Duchy.
A Tier 10 Priest hero.
An Orange Legendary hero.
Of course, she wasn’t actually under Theodore’s command. She served a Wisdom Angel—one of the powerful figures within the Castle faction.
Wisdom Angels?
Simply put, they were Angel heroes.
In the Castle faction, Tier 13 Legendary units were called Angels, while Tier 14 Mythic units were known as Archangels.
But if an Angel had a unique title that signified mastery over a specific power or element—such as Wisdom Angel, Power Angel, Battle Angel, Storm Angel, Flame Angel, and so on—then they were no longer just regular units.
They were unit heroes.
And that meant they were on the same level as the Kings of the three great evil factions.
On the other hand, if an Angel bore a title representing authority, divine mission, or sacred duty—such as Judgment Angel, Verdict Angel, Divine Angel—then they were something even greater.
They were the true overlords of the Castle faction.
An Angel hero with a divine title was a force on par with the Overlords of the three great evil factions.
