My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 469: Drakzen’s Final Whisper
Chapter 469: Drakzen’s Final Whisper
As Drakzen and I stayed suspended in the air for a few seconds, I noticed that the demon didn’t have his usual smug expression. Instead, he looked enraged and frustrated, which was strange but pleasing for me to watch.
His body possessed some of the features that were on Xalathas, and most of the demonic energy I sensed coming from him seemed to belong to the demon king. Although, I supposed that Drakzen was their new king by that point. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The moment that Drakzen raised his arm and prepared himself to cast a spell towards me, his eyes widened in shock when he noticed I wasn’t hovering in front of him anymore.
While my body was purely made of ashes, I could turn myself into dust and flow in the environment as one, so I reappeared behind Drakzen and gently placed my palm against his back, surprising the demon.
He didn’t take a second to turn with his claws at the ready, but when he moved, a blast of raw magical power shot out from my palm, pushing Drakzen several meters away and leaving a gaping hole near his shoulder.
Trying to regain balance in the air, Drakzen raised his gaze while regenerating his injury. Nevertheless, I had already used the ashes in the air to appear beside him once again, landing another blast on the side of his torso.
After striking Drakzen several times without allowing him even to shoot a single speck of magic, I noticed that his regeneration became slightly slower, which told me that my attacks were working.
I was already aware that Drakzen had incredible resistance and self-healing abilities—and absorbing the body of Xalathas only increased its potency. Still, there was a limit to it.
"I told you, Drakzen... That I would be the one to kill you," I muttered right as I appeared beside him, making him unable to respond or retaliate from the sheer pressure coming from my presence.
This time, Drakzen didn’t try to be witty or sarcastic. He didn’t smile defiantly at me like before.
For the first time since I met him, Drakzen looked genuinely afraid. He was grinding his teeth with anger while his eyes widened in utter shock and fear, which would have probably made me scoff with laughter if I hadn’t died minutes ago.
Using only one hand, I struck the demon numerous times in the air with attacks so quick that even I had trouble perceiving, and with the impact of the last attack, Drakzen was sent flying against a hill covered in corals.
As I slowly hovered down to the ground near Drakzen, he stood up and coughed some blood, inspecting the holes in his body and sensing the missing horn on his head.
"Heh... Ehehe... AAHAHAHA!" The demon laughed maniacally.
’That’s the Drakzen I know,’ I thought.
"All this time, I never underestimated you, Ichiro..." He said as the blood from his head kept trickling down.
"If I can’t take over this world, then I’ll simply destroy it all..." Drakzen continued with a whisper.
At that moment, his demonic energy grew exponentially, making the earth rumble and the sky darken as a sensation of dread began to surround me.
The eerie black energy that flowed from Drakzen’s body covered a large area around us. But even then, I felt utterly invincible, so I just stood still in the middle of the darkness.
"Let it all fall into despair!" Drakzen shouted, raising both of his arms upwards and condensing the dark energy above him.
Not even a second later, a massive orb resembling a black hole was formed, and I could feel it trying to pull me to its center while incinerating anything that got close to its perimeter.
Based on how the demonic black hole was acting, I could tell that it would keep growing and destroying everything without limits, so I knew I had to get rid of it as quickly as possible.
I had considered using a spell similar to a black hole when I first created ’gravity magic,’ though I never tried it out of fear of losing control of it.
An essential part of casting spells was the caster’s imagination, and the knowledge and experiences that Melina and I had lived in our previous lives allowed us to think more ’outside the box’ compared to any other mage in this world.
Still, a black hole wasn’t a concept that humans fully understood. In fact, they were considered a theory on Earth.
Many scientists had their own ideas for how black holes behaved in space, but none could say for sure how they were created or destroyed.
When looking at Drakzen’s idea of a black hole, it was a bit surprising to see he could come up with such a destructive force, which made me ponder if he had planned on destroying everything from the beginning.
’I could get rid of the black hole, but...’ I thought, realizing that if I tried to dispel the massive black orb, it would leave me open to another attack.
I was sure I could take another one of Drakzen’s attacks without dying, and knowing that he didn’t have any more allies nearby was reassuring.
However, before I could deal with the black hole and make an opening for him, I sensed a projectile flying toward us at incredible speed.
*Crash!* A loud sound echoed around us, making Drakzen widen his eyes in pain and look to the side, seeing Jackson’s spear stabbing his ribs.
From the top of a hill that was at least fifty meters away from us, Jackson had taken his weapon and threw it like a Spartan, hitting his mark and making Drakzen’s magic wane for a second.
Suddenly, an arch of green flames came flying down from Melina’s location, hitting Drakzen in the chest and leaving a searing scar on his body.
Relishing the opportunity, I pointed my index finger at the black hole, making the tip shine for a quick second before letting the small light orb be absorbed by the black vortex.
I could still control the small light orb with my finger, and when it flew to the center of the black hole, I sharpened my gaze and made it shine thousands of times brighter than before.
Drakzen looked surprised to see that his black hole couldn’t contain my tiny light mote, so I concluded that he didn’t fully understand his own spell.
His black hole would keep on absorbing and growing if nothing was done about it, but if there were something that held much more energy than the vortex could take, then it would shatter and dissipate from the overflow of energy.
As the black hole turned into strands of darkness that dissipated into thin air, Vespera and Yoru arrived at the scene and struck Drakzen, letting each of them sever an arm from the demon.
*Thud...* Drakzen fell to his knees.
One of his horns was broken, and his face was covered in blood. Jackson’s spear extruded from the side of his torso, and both of his severed arms were being held by my companions beside him.
"Any last words?" I asked, standing before the demon in the middle of the destroyed battlefield.
"After all... I still don’t understand it," Drakzen replied, looking to the side where Jackson and Nessa were standing with a surrendered expression.
"Then, hopefully, you do next time..." I said, making the demon smile at me one last time.
"Heh... We’ll see about that, my friend..."
*Swish!* I waved my hand and released a slice of fire, severing Drakzen’s head and ending his life.
While his corpse slowly turned to dust before me, my body began to change back to its usual form slowly, and we all stayed in complete silence until the last piece of his body crumbled.
