In a split second, Arthur found himself completely wrapped in darkness from head to toe. Wherever he looked, it was dark and yet he could feel his body falling somewhere. The wind hit his face, and the sounds from the outside world started slowly returning to him.

He felt his entire life flashing before his eyes like a movie. It didn't take him long to realize that he had indeed… jumped into the hole. This leap was his goal, and it was happening right before his eyes at that moment.

Being in the air, slowly descending into this abyss was perhaps the worst feeling Arthur had experienced in his life, and it was not even close. It felt like his entire life was being sucked out of him and all he can do was watch. Large arms of formless darkness were grabbing him tightly, trying to capture him once and for all.

However, even at that moment, the boy's mind remained focused and sharp. Against that fear trying to consume him and against the odds stacked up before him. He had one goal and one goal only… To come out victorious.

Looking over his shoulder, Arthur saw all the monsters leap after him rabidly, thinking he was simply jumping into nothingness. They didn't realize that they were awfully close to the edge of the abyss.

Everything felt quite slow for him, and he could perceive it all in great detail. Immediately, he pulled his sword out as he spun around. Watching the monsters leap into the unknown after him, he smiled.

"Good… You fell right where I wanted you." He muttered.

"EEEERR!!!"

At that moment, Arthur channeled his mana into the sword as he thrust it forward. The sword extended several meters away before it created a large ice spear that lodged into the side of the cliff, stopping Arthur's fall instantly.

His shoulder cracked loudly under the sudden halt as the boy swung left and right. At the same time, the monsters rained down on him from the sky.

"Shit!" He cursed as he covered his head. The Human Chimeras screeched loudly, realizing what had just happened as they fell into the dark abyss, their noises getting muffled quickly. It all happened so quickly that even Arthur couldn't react to it.

Dozens and dozens of monsters fell into the darkness, getting completely swallowed without any resistance.

'Please don't hit my sword! Please!' He prayed while trying to dodge the monsters to the best of his abilities. He swung left and right as the rain of monsters continued. They slammed against the face of the cliff, sending debris falling toward Arthur, who could barely hold on.

*BANG*

Eventually, one of the monsters slammed into the ice spear holding him back, shaking it violently.

"No!!" Arthur felt his body fall several inches as if the spear had loosened, which was the worst outcome possible. "Just a little longer! Hold on just a little longer!"

As the monsters fell, Arthur tried his best to keep the sword lodged into the cliff. He knew any mistake would be his end. But, against dozens of monsters falling in every direction, the luck he needed was simply too much.

*BANG*

The second monster hit the spear, cracking it even more and loosening its grip. Arthur started hearing the ice bend and crack.

'It won't hold on… Goddamit! I need to somehow get out of this.' He cursed as he looked left and right. Then, he forced himself up and tried to stand on top of the sword. The best idea he could come up with was to free his hands and try to balance on the sword while pushing all the falling monsters away.

'If I can even stand up on the sword that-'

"Woah!" Seeing another monster hurling toward him, he quickly stopped and swung to the other side, dodging it at the very last second. The frantic movement loosened the ice even more and at this point, the only thing holding it together was the mana it was created from.

Normal ice would usually break into small shards by this time, which was why the ice created by Elemental Oblivion was special.

"T-That was close…" He exhaled. But, when he heard the ice crack again, the boy's expression paled.

The race against time had begun.

Meanwhile, far away from there, where the rest of the humans were, the battle continued brutally. Blood splattered everywhere as each side tried to deal as much damage to the other. The sounds of growls and grunts mixed with the sounds of weapons clashing against the rabid beasts.

"Don't fall back! Hold your lines!!" Germa yelled.

The defensive lines have suffered big hits, a considerable number of people fell injured and were brought to the back. Meanwhile, the rest tried to find a way to push the monsters away.

The non-combatants were trying to hurry their steps as much as possible. In a matter of three minutes, almost another 200 started climbing the iron pillar.

"Leader… Where are you?" Germa frowned. He couldn't hear the noises anymore coming from a distance. That worried him greatly as it could mean many things, and most of them weren't good.

"He will take care of that… The number of monsters here had decreased considerably. We can beat them!" He clenched his fists. "Hold your lines! We have killed many of them! They aren't increasing in number anymore!"

His shouts fueled their spirit as they pushed forward, making the monsters lose the advantage they had that entire time.

For some reason, the number of monsters started decreasing rapidly out of nowhere, and people noticed it almost immediately.

With how much pressure they were under a few seconds ago, this sudden sharp decline was alarming, to say the least.

The only one who was able to analyse the battle fully was Germa himself. He could feel the way the battle tides shifted and it only led him to one conclusion.

'The monsters aren't approaching us anymore! They're heading somewhere else!' He mused. 'But… Where?'

The question immediately led him to the answer, which wasn't that hard to find. The only reason these monsters could behave in such a manner was if they found something way more important to deal with.

"The leader…" He muttered under his breath. "He's still fighting…"

In his heart, the man could feel it, the change Arthur was bringing to the battle even though he wasn't with them. In that darkness, he was facing these abominations on his own, trying to keep them away from their location.

Germa couldn't imagine how hard it was to do that as this entire army was dealing huge problems to the entire group. Yet, Arthur was most likely fighting a similar number of enemies on his own.

'If he's fighting this many on his own, how can he hold on for long?' He clenched his teeth. A strong urge to rush to where the leader was filled the man's heart, but he found himself conflicted as the clear orders were for him to remain there and take over the group.

But, if he left Arthur on his own… Nobody knows what could happen.

'Should I…?'
