My Evil Boy Toy-Chapter 256: Alter One
Chapter 256: Alter One
I thought everything would be okay and that we would not encounter problems with Jaden’s alter anymore. But I was wrong.
I noticed he’s been spending time with Alora. They would talk before and after breakfast. I caught them inside the library talking about something but when they saw me, Alora glanced coldly at me and left without a word.
I was scared to ask what was happening and didn’t confront Jayden about Alora. I was jealous of my friend. Not because they were cheating on me and Luke, but because Alora could understand Jayden more than I do.
They had the same illness and could support each other. I knew Jayden felt like I couldn’t understand what he was going through. And I sometimes question myself if I could really bear his illness for the rest of our lives or if it was just mere words from a lonely wife.
Yes. I admit I’m still lonely. Who wouldn’t, right? I have all the right in the world to feel miserable. I lost my daughter and my son was three thousand miles away from me. I couldn’t spend time with him or even see him.
My brother asked me to avoid any unnecessary contact with Caden. He said it was dangerous. The best way to talk to my son was through Luke’s communication device which could be accessed only at the headquarters.
Now Jayden was becoming more and more different. I knew he was telling Alora about the identities inside him, but I was hoping he could tell me so I could reach every one of his alters. In that way, maybe I would understand and could fully support him.
"Where have you been?" I asked when he entered our bedroom
He was wearing casual clothes and looked like he went out. I didn’t notice he was not in the house because I was busy writing in my diary and at the same time, looking for clues about Benjamin.
"I had lunch with Alora." He answered while kissing me on the cheek.
"Why didn’t you tell me? I’m starving." I pouted, but I was hurt and my heart felt like it was being stabbed.
"You’re busy so I didn’t bother to ask." He said.
I knew there was a different meaning to his words. I became obsessed with my adopted father, and even not having a single clue after months of searching, I never stopped looking.
It was our anniversary the other day but I forgot to at least greet him. I knew Jayden was disappointed, but he still gave me his present. It was a necklace with a picture of Caden and Mirea. He asked someone to make a photo of our daughter based on her appearance when she visited us in our dreams.
I cried so hard after seeing her picture and I fell asleep from exhaustion. When I woke up, he wasn’t there anymore.
I sighed thinking about my relationship with Jayden. Am I a failure as a wife or a partner? We promised to love each other in sickness and in health, but it was hard for me to deal with my own issues. How could I possibly help my husband if I myself couldn’t move on from my pain?
"I couldn’t find any clue." I whispered.
"I told you it’s useless. Your father is really good at hiding." He answered while taking off his shirt.
I glanced at him and he still had the same effect on me. My heart still beats for him and I still get excited seeing him naked. Well, half-naked to be exact. But I felt like our connection was starting to get weak. And it was frightening me.
"But I have to keep looking." I said.
I heard him sigh and directly stared at me. "Why? Because you want revenge? Once you found him, what do you want to do with him? Kill him?" He continued to ask.
I frowned. "Why are you shouting at me? I’m doing this for us. So Caden could come home. I want to see my son! I want to be with him. I want to watch him grow up. Don’t you want to experience being his parent?" I paused then chuckled.
"Why do I have to ask you that question? You weren’t there when he was born and you spent a little time with him so it wasn’t a big deal for you that he’s not here." There! I said it, but I wanted to scold myself after.
I saw Jayden’s face change and his eyes suddenly got colder. His silver eyes weren’t sparkling—it was like staring into someone with a dead soul.
Jayden grinned making me feel scared of him. My eyes widened when I realized it was not him, but one of his alters.
"Who are you?" I asked.
He laughed but didn’t move from where he was standing. He was just a few steps away from me so I wanted to back off because I felt scared.
The man in front of me was so much different from the other alters I had met. I felt my hands shaking and my heart was beating so loud as he stared at me from head to toe.
"Love? You’re scaring me." I said.
He laughed again and then glared at me. "Love? After saying those words, you’re calling him love?" He said.
I bit my lip and understood what he meant. I said those awful words to him. How could I suddenly change my tone towards him?
"That identity is not here anymore. From now on, I’ll be spending time with you."
I stared blankly at him. I couldn’t understand what he meant by those words. "W-What do you mean? Who are you? Where is Jayden?"
He grinned. "Princess, I thought you knew that you don’t live in a fairy tale and that your prince charming never exists in the real world."
My heart pounded as if it was going to burst out of my chest. I wanted to run away so I wouldn’t hear what he was about to say. But to my surprise, he was already pinning me down on the bed.
"Why are you looking for that kid? He’s my first identity. I am the real Jayden. I am your husband."
