Chapter 83: Time Dilation Hell

"Transfer the money back," Switch repeated.

"Oh... sweetheart, I could consider that. As long as you sck my dck. That is... Hahaha!" Doc laughed in defiance, daring them to kill him.

"C’mon... I know what kind of guy you like. The honest-looking, normal type—like that guy, Max. But you always end up worse, don’t you? C’mon, why don’t you tell this muscle-head the truth? That’s why you were my—bi—"

Pow!

Ricardo’s punch cut off whatever Doc was about to say. But instead of stopping him, it only made Doc laugh even harder.

"Hahaha! HAHAHAHA!! I don’t even feel a thing!"

Switch glared at Doc, her eyes filled with fury, her teeth clenched. She said nothing. Instead, she stood up and picked up a strange-looking device—a helmet covered in tubes and electronics, with several thick cords connecting it to the large server in the room.

"Enjoy... Doc," Switch said coldly, and pressed the Enter key.

Suddenly, Doc’s view shifted from the room into complete darkness. There was only him—darkness and silence. The silence was so profound that he could hear nothing but his own breathing and heartbeat. He could feel his body, yet he couldn’t perceive it—it was as if he were floating, but not really.

"What did that bitch do to me?" Doc muttered. But the moment he spoke, his voice rang so loudly in the oppressive silence that it irritated him—enraged him, even.

Do you think this little darkness will break me? You’re naive!

With that thought, Doc decided to sleep. But... no matter what he tried, he couldn’t. His consciousness remained painfully alert. So he resolved to wait. This wasn’t torture—it was just a quiet place to rest.

Or so he thought.

Time passed—or at least, it felt like it. He couldn’t tell how much. There were no clocks, no light, no change.

Doc felt fatigue creeping in. He hadn’t slept a wink. Hunger gnawed at him. He was tired... exhausted... but despite the mounting fatigue, his mind stayed painfully awake.

The exhaustion became unbearable. Yet still, he couldn’t sleep.

What is this? What happened? Why can’t I sleep?

What the hell did that bitch do to me? Where am I?

At this point, his thoughts began to spiral. The longer he stayed, the worse his mind became. He wanted to stop thinking, but his dark and intrusive thoughts only grew louder and more dominant.

In this endless black void, there was only his mind, his voice, pain, and fears. He tried to hurt himself, to break out of it somehow... but nothing worked. He could feel his body, yet there was nothing he could do. Hunger, fatigue, and despair consumed him.

"ARGHHHHH! ARRGHHHHH! AAAARRRRGGHHH!" Doc screamed into the void, hoping his voice might attract someone! Anyone! Who could help?

"Help! Help! There’s a crazy bitch here! She kidnapped me! I’m trapped! Somebody, help!"

He kept screaming. Kept pleading. But it was useless.

Only darkness responded. Only silence echoed back.

Even his own heartbeat became unbearable.

This darkness... it was hell. A void of eternal awareness and no escape.

He didn’t know how long he’d been there. Weeks? Months? Years? He couldn’t tell. Time no longer meant anything. But one thing was certain... Switch hadn’t come back.

"Anyone! Help! Switch! Where are you, bitch!? Come back and kill me!"

Still, nothing. Just darkness.

He tried to kill himself. He held his breath—but didn’t die. He only felt the suffocating pain of it, but death never came. He tried to smash his head in, to bash himself against something—but there were no walls, no ground, no resistance.

He ran, but it was pointless. There was no destination. No limit. No escape.

It was like drifting in space—a starless, lightless void where he could only exist... and suffer.

"No... this is... this is horrible! Somebody! Anybody! Switch! I give up! I’ll transfer the money! No—all of it! I’ll give you everything I have! Just let me out!"

Doc collapsed to the ground—if the endless void beneath him could even be called a ground.

"Sob... please... please, let me out... I’ll do anything. Anything you ask. I’ll be your dog! Your maggot! Just... please... let me out..."

But again, his cries fell on deaf ears.

Only darkness. Only silence.

Time passed, or so he thought. Months? Years? He didn’t know anymore.

His tongue swelled from thirst that never quenched. His nails dug into palms that couldn’t bleed.

Eventually, his mind broke. His thoughts went blank. His pleading stopped. He could no longer cry or beg or think of anything beyond the fact that he was still trapped, still awake, still aware, still in hell.

He couldn’t sleep.

He couldn’t die.

He couldn’t shut down.

He couldn’t forget.

He couldn’t even go insane!

He was forced to live through every second of it. Fully conscious. Fully aware.

Even insanity couldn’t save him!

Then, his vision shifted.

He was back in the same room.

Crash!

Doc crashed down to teh ground along with the chair he was tied to.

His stomach is cramped... like it was starved for years... it didn’t know the hunger was a lie.

"Huh? Aaah... aaaa... transfer... trans... aaah... AAAAHAHAHA!" Doc burst into tears. He was relieved... and terrified. Terrified that he might get sent back again.

Switch tilted her head, studying Doc’s body reaction. "How do you feel, Doc?" she murmured. "Your body thinks it’s been starving for 693 days."

"Ah?" Doc was stunned. He never expected that to be the first thing Switch would ask. It was as if... as if nothing had happened. It was as if everything was a dream! A lie! Like it was, it was just a mere moment of a dream!

But in that darkness... it felt like years had passed.

"Whaaa... Wha?" His speech was slow and broken. The long isolation had taken its toll. It would take time before he could speak normally again.

"What you just experienced was one million times time dilation," Switch said with a smirk. "In that dark void, about 1 year, 8 months, and 23 days passed. But from the outside? Just one minute."

She leaned in closer.

"Now... are you going to transfer the money back? Or do you want to go back in there again? This time for 30 minutes. I have all night to play with you, Doc."

To Doc, her smirk was no different than the devil’s grin.

"Aaah! O--- No! Ease! Pease! I-I traan! transfer! Transfer!" he stammered, his speech broken... tears still flowing down his cheeks, voice trembling in broken desperation.

With that, Doc immediately transferred the money back to Switch.

Seeing the transaction go through and the money now in her account, she smiled—then her expression shifted into a frown. The total was only 3.8 million dollars, not the full 5 million.

"Doc... where’s the rest of the money?" Switch asked, her voice cold.

"Aaaahahh! It’s... it’s bribes! I used one mil... to bribe! Don’t... don’t send me back! I’ll find more I’ll find more money! more money! I swear!" Doc pleaded, groveling on the ground, trying to kiss the soles of Switch’s shoes.

"F*ck!" Switch spat, enraged.

No wonder Doc got his payout so quickly. It was because he used one million to bribe officers at the Expedition Center, bypassing the inspection protocol and getting the funds released early.

"Ricardo, I’ll go outside for a bit. We got the money, you can do whatever you want with him," Switch said before standing up from her chair and walking out of the room, leaving Ricardo alone with Doc.

Ricardo didn’t want to deal with this garbage either, but this scumbag had managed to cheat money from his boss’s brother, so... no matter what, he had to pay. Ricardo called his brothers in and sent them out to ask around if anyone wanted a kidney or two... he planned to chop this guy up and sell his organs to the highest bidder.

If the organs were too f*cked up, he’d put the guy to work and eventually sell his brain to some corpo looking to use it for one of their twisted experiments.

After everything was arranged, Ricardo walked out of the room and saw Switch standing in front of his new apartment. She leaned against the railing, watching the night view of the Fringe, where chaos echoed in the distance... gunfire, sirens, and ambulance wails filling the air.

"I know you’re his brother’s subordinate... but can you not tell him about my past?" Switch asked quietly.

Hearing this, Ricardo stepped up beside her, leaving a bit of formal distance between them.

"Even if I don’t tell my boss’s brother... I still need to report to my boss," he replied.

"That’s fine... I know he’s going to find out about my past eventually, but... at least give me time to prepare myself," Switch said, letting out a long sigh.

"How did you fall for that dipsh*t?" Ricardo asked.

"As he said... I like honest men. That guy... the first time he joined our crew. He looked honest. But it was all a lie. He used me... he used everyone on the team. He acted that way because Honiahaka, our leader likes honest men."

"Hmph. What a fool I was... I should’ve known better," Switch said, her voice tinged with self-deprecation.
