Chapter 76 - 76: Get a Few Spaceships for Free

"Rogue's gone, and now we're chasing the Skrulls. Fury also has a spaceship. What do we do now? All the ships are gone." Carol looked helplessly toward the distant figure of Rogue.

"Carol, can't you just fly back yourself?"

She blinked. "Are you serious? In open space? You think I can handle the vacuum of space?"

"You'll be fine. Believe in yourself," Su Xiuyu said nonchalantly. Come on, you're future Captain Marvel. You telling me you can't fly in space?

"You go first, I'll follow behind," Su Xiuyu added carefully. He didn't want her thinking he was trying to take advantage of her or anything.

Carol narrowed her eyes. "I swear, Su Xiuyu was definitely thinking something shady just now."

Su Xiuyu was speechless. How the hell did Carol get this sharp all of a sudden? Has the Kree been fooling her for six years straight?

"Go on, I'll follow," she said. Then Su Xiuyu activated his Rinnegan, manipulating gravity to launch himself straight toward Earth.

"Hey! Wait!" Carol shouted, then shook her head, pushing her worries aside. She ignited her energy, rocketing through the atmosphere like a comet.

Inside the command room of a Kree warship, a soldier reported to Ronan the Accuser.

"Sir, we've successfully jumped to Planet 53. We've received word that Team Rogue has failed their mission. The Skrulls are hiding on this planet."

"Rogue's useless. He not only failed the mission, but he also dealt with our own rebels instead of the enemy. Fire missiles. I don't want a single Skrull cockroach crawling out of that place alive."

"Yes, Commander."

The ship's launch bay opened, revealing massive warheads—standard Kree weapons used to annihilate all life on a planet.

"Fire."

A volley of missiles shot toward Earth. Of course, in 1995, no country had the air defense tech to even detect, let alone intercept, anything like that.

"Carol, did you see that? The Kree launched their missiles. Time for us to change the tide."

"What?" Carol was stunned. Sure, she expected to lead the charge, but Su Xiuyu? He was clearly strong, so why was he still letting her take charge?

"Go handle a few battleships," Su Xiuyu said, then flew off toward the nearest Kree ship.

"That sneaky bastard!" Carol grumbled, surging forward to intercept the first missile. These things were bigger than Earth's aircraft carrier frigates.

"Take it back!" she shouted, grabbing the warhead with all her strength and hurling it back toward the Kree fleet. The trailing missiles exploded mid-air in a fiery show.

The onlookers below could hardly believe it. "Is that a... woman?"

Carol didn't stop. She turned into a missile herself, bursting through the atmosphere like a warhead made of light and rage. The Kree warship blocking the sun was reduced to a blooming fireball.

She flew up to Ronan's ship, then smirked. "Get out. This planet's Kree territory now."

Ronan, the infamous Accuser, didn't hesitate. "Prepare a space jump. Retreat immediately."

Carol watched their ships vanish one by one. "Thought he'd put up a fight. Guess even the Kree have a limit."

"At least we won for now," she muttered, knowing deep down that Earth couldn't truly stand against the Kree Empire. But she'd made her point. Killing Ronan would've made Earth a target. Now, they'd think twice.

The remaining three Kree warships hadn't moved.

Curious, Carol flew over—and saw Su Xiuyu had already boarded them. In fact, there was a version of him in every control room.

"What the hell kind of power is that? Can he clone himself?"

"All the others are gone. Three ships should be enough, right? Free ships. Not bad," Su Xiuyu said openly, not even pretending to hide it.

Carol narrowed her eyes. "So, you're just hijacking spaceships now. And somehow, I've become your accomplice."

"And you're not gonna explain how you just multiplied yourself?"

"Like I said—I can split myself. It's a secret. Best revealed later," Su Xiuyu replied, clearly dodging.

"I'm heading back to take care of Rogue. You want a lift?" Carol said and flew toward Earth before he could respond.

Su Xiuyu stayed behind, intimidating the last remaining Kree technician into teaching him how to activate stealth mode. He had plans for those ships.

With a loud boom, Rogue's ship crashed into Earth. As he staggered out, the first thing he saw was Carol waiting beside it.

"You think you can take on the Kree Empire's fleet by yourself? Ronan's practically orbiting the planet already. Surrender now and maybe—maybe—the Supreme Intelligence will spare you."

He looked ready to talk big and make some last-ditch threat.

"Sad. We did meet Ronan. He's gone now. Fleet's gone too. As for your Supreme Intelligence, they're next on the list," Carol said casually. "Anything else you want to try?"

Rogue's expression cracked. She's not lying. If Ronan were still here, he'd have made a move by now.

He dropped his gun and sneered, "Then let's fight like warriors. No powers—just fists!"

"Ahhh!"

Too bad Carol didn't give a damn about warrior's pride. One energy blast later, Rogue was sent flying ten meters back like a ragdoll.

"Who still fights like that? You're not even a gentleman. Just give up. You've already lost."

"The Kree Empire hasn't lost..." Rogue muttered, beaten and broken.

Carol grabbed him by the collar and tossed him into the aircraft like trash. As he struggled inside the cockpit, still rambling—

"I can't go back in disgrace!"

Carol didn't even respond. She slammed the hatch shut and sent an energy pulse into the ship's engine. It took off instantly, hurtling into the sky.

As she watched it vanish, something inside her eased—like a six-year weight finally lifted from her chest.

--------------

At the dining table, Carol, Su Xiuyu's wooden clone, sat on one side. On the other were Fremalia and Talos wife, all sharing a peaceful meal together.

"Cheers!"

Kree's invasion had finally been wrapped up, and the group gathered to celebrate their hard-earned victory.

"Su Xiuyu, you've definitely been holding back. You're damn sneaky." Fury smirked, raising his glass. After spending some time with him, Fury had figured out that while Su Xiuyu kept plenty of secrets, he didn't seem to have any ill intentions. Carol had told him that Su Xiuyu could travel across the universe physically—if he really meant harm, he wouldn't just be sitting here like a normal guy.

"I never hid it. I said from the beginning that I was strong. Carol just didn't believe me when I told her. Not my fault." Su Xiuyu shrugged, unfazed by Fury's playful jab.

He had always known the truth would eventually come out. That's why he'd mentioned his power early on. Playing weak? Useless strategy. In the Marvel Universe, low profile or not, trouble finds you. Especially with something like Thanos' snap looming in the future—indiscriminate and brutal. But Su Xiuyu wasn't worried. With the strength he'd built up, he wasn't about to let Thanos run the show. The Infinity Stones? Sure, powerful, but he wouldn't mind snatching a few for fun.

"Yeah, yeah, sounds like you're dodging the question again. You're strong, and then there's space-traveling-through-the-galaxy ability. Mutants have weird powers, sure, but I've never heard of any mutant who could do that. Are you even human?" Fury leaned in, his curiosity piqued, the others following his gaze toward Su Xiuyu.

"Well, still technically Earthling," Su Xiuyu said vaguely, waving it off. He didn't mind people knowing about his Ōtsutsuki bloodline, but he felt more human than anything else. Besides, even if he spilled everything, would anyone here understand what the Ōtsutsuki Clan even was?

Fury went quiet, lost in thought. That phrase—"technically Earthling"—led him to suspect Su Xiuyu might be a half-breed: part human, part alien. Carol's past had clearly drawn her back to Earth after what the Kree did to her, so she was trustworthy in Fury's book. But Su Xiuyu? His history was a mystery. He looked Asian, and with the Cold War era not far behind, Fury wasn't quick to trust people so easily.

Still, one thing was clear—Su Xiuyu only said what he wanted to say and kept quiet about the rest. He was confident. Fury could feel it. And that kind of confidence only came from real strength. So, Fury held back the urge to press him further.

"By the way, Fury," Su Xiuyu changed the subject with a smirk. "What happened to your eye? Let me guess... scratched by a cat?"

Fury stiffened.

Of course, Su Xiuyu already knew the truth—that damn orange cat, the Flerken, had scratched Fury so badly he lost his eye. Petting cats could be a dangerous game.

"Don't let it look you in the eye," Fury said quickly, a flicker of panic in his voice as Su Xiuyu casually picked up the purring creature and stroked its smooth fur.

The dinner wrapped up after a while. Maybe it wasn't some grand farewell, but Su Xiuyu knew Carol wouldn't stay on Earth long. She was a wanderer at heart. Staying in one place? Not her thing.

"This signal receiver's been upgraded. It can catch signals from multiple nearby galaxies." Carol handed a small device to Fury.

He reached for it with a grin, but she pulled it back slightly.

"Only for emergencies, Fury."

"Yes, ma'am." He took the hint and backed off.

Then she took out a second signal receiver, clearly built with extra care. It was sleeker, the finish more polished. For someone like Carol who cared more about practicality than appearances, that extra effort said a lot.

"Here Su Xiuyu," she added. "I can contact you through it, and it'll send signals directly to you."

Su Xiuyu accepted the device with a smile.

"Damn it," Fury muttered under his breath. "I know they're not dating, but I still wanna punch that smug bastard in the face."

He could only reach Carol in absolute emergencies. Meanwhile, Su Xiuyu could talk to her whenever he wanted. Fury hated it—but he understood. Carol didn't trust easily, and if she trusted Su Xiuyu that much, it meant he'd earned it. His strength spoke louder than words.

After that, Carol didn't linger. She blasted into the night sky and was gone.

Su Xiuyu, too, vanished soon after, taking the Skrulls with him.

Later—

"Fury, this alien invasion was handled brilliantly. Your actions made a massive impact. You're due for a promotion—tell us, what do you want?"

At the World Union Conference, leaders from across the globe had gathered. They all knew that Fury and his mysterious allies were the key to Earth's victory in the Kree invasion. And while Fury had kept the details about Carol and Su Xiuyu to himself, his efforts alone were enough to elevate him.

"I don't want anything," Fury said calmly. "I'll keep working hard with S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect Earth—and America."

His answer was well-received. Asking for too much would've raised red flags. The council liked agents who knew their place.

Everyone could tell: S.H.I.E.L.D. was about to skyrocket, and Fury was leading the way.

Later that day, Fury finally arrived at his new office.

That's right. His own office.

"Boss, which prosthetic eye do you want?" Coulson appeared with a briefcase, opening it to reveal dozens of options.

Fury winced. The sight of them made his left eye ache all over again.

"I still can't believe it. Got my eye clawed out by a damn cat..."

"Rumor says you resisted capture, fought tooth and nail, and even after they blinded you, you still didn't give in," Coulson said, awe in his voice.

Fury shook his head. "Bullshit."

But that didn't stop Coulson from admiring him even more. A hero in his eyes, no matter what Fury said.

Fury leaned back in his chair with a tired sigh. "Damn cat..."
