Modern World Warlock-Chapter 282: The Twins’ Unexpected Massacre

While Megan and Vesnia faced each other in the inner gardens of the mansion, Camille stayed with the twins and Cerberus inside the infirmary.

The handler believed they would be safer inside the infirmary than having them run to the safe room with an unconscious Dante. However, they also had no other place to escape if they were cornered.

As they ran out of options, Camille gritted her teeth and began rolling Dante's bed with the help of the twins, making their way out of the room with Cerberus guiding them.

The warlock had an IV connected to his veins with the purpose of giving him nutrients, but taking into account the emergency they found themselves in, Camille removed the IV so that she could roll the bed faster.

While jogging through the hallway, Camille and her group stopped when a member of the Beta Team appeared running in the opposite direction of them.

"Boss, it's dangerous here!" The man shouted, and right as he said his warning, a pack of ghouls could be seen following him, screeching loudly.

"Shit… Alright, let's go around!" Camille said to the twins.

However, when she looked at the children, she noticed that the kids were staring at the pack of ghouls with a blank expression.

"Asher, Amara…? Let's go!" The handler urged the twins. Nonetheless, they stood still and ignored her words, prompting Camille to glance at Cerberus for an answer.

"Hey, Asher…" Amara muttered to her brother.

"Yes, Amara?" he replied.

"That man is our ally, yes?" Amara asked.

"I think so… Do you feel that?" Asher replied with another question.

The two siblings were speaking quite casually and in a serious tone, which made Camille utterly confused as she wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.

Unbeknownst to her, the twins were able to see the aura coming from the ghouls, and from what they saw, they could see their intentions of "capturing" Camille while killing anyone in their way.

"Those monsters are coming for Cami…" Amara muttered under her breath, but Camille was still able to hear her words.

When one of the ghouls jumped to attack the Beta Team member, Amara appeared right beside the monster with her wings fully extended behind her back.

Her small hands looked like sharp claws, and as the girl waved her hand to the side, the entire head of the ghoul was ripped out of its body in an instant, splashing blood all over the man she just saved.

"Huh…?" Camille hummed, unsure of when the twins moved from their position since she didn't even see them from how fast they moved.

Behind Amara, Asher dashed with his wings out and sliced the head of two of the ghouls with ease, kicking the head mid-air like a football and hitting another ghoul with it.

At that moment, Camille was able to detail the faces of the harpion twins, who were smiling with a somewhat evil grin while glancing at the pack of ghouls before them.

"Haha! Amara, look…!" Asher exclaimed, wanting to show his sister how he was juggling the ghoul's head with his feet.

Amara chuckled at the sight, and when a few of the ghouls approached her to attack her, she quickly moved and grabbed one of the monsters by the arm, pulling with all her strength and severing it entirely.

Using the ghoul's arm like a baseball bat, Amara hit one of the ghouls in the head and utterly smashed it along with the arm, making them blow into an explosion of pure gore that had Camille in quite a shock.

Seeing the two twins smiling from ear to ear and chuckling as they tore apart the monsters, in a literal sense, made her realize the words that Dante had told her on the first night she met the twins.

It didn't matter how cute, young, and childish they were. At the end of the day, they were harpions, one of the most savage kinds of demons there could be.

Still, even when the kids were having their own gore fest with the bodies of the ghouls, they were doing it to protect Camille and their allies.

Cerberus was on standby next to Camille and the unconscious Dante, and the puppy was calm at first as the twins killed their assailants. Suddenly, Cerberus began growling as his fur perked up while looking at the distance in the long hallway.

After the two kids had killed a little over a dozen ghouls, they were covered in blood with smiles on their faces. Still, when they sensed the same presence that alerted Cerberus, the harpion twins took a few steps back out of reflex.

"Th-that feels like… big brother!?" Amara exclaimed.

From the other side of the hallway, a man completely covered in bandages walked slowly toward the group, wearing a hooded jacket and casual pants.

The twins could see the man's aura, which they compared to Dante's, as it felt similar. However, they could also sense his undeterred aggression toward them.

'They said he looks similar to Dante…? Could that be another warlock!?' Camille pondered.

When the bandaged man was close enough, he raised his arm and pointed his palm at the twins, making Camille shout in fear as she didn't want them to get hurt.

As a wave of destruction was cast by the unknown warlock, the twins stood still momentarily, thinking they were going to die. Nevertheless, before the spell could hit them, Cerberus jumped in front of them and raised a shadow wall that protected them from harm.

Camille widened her eyes in shock after the spell let out a loud, banging sound against the shadow wall. However, it wasn't the attack that surprised her—it was Cerberus' transformation.

Instead of maintaining his puppy form, Cerberus was as big as an SUV, with his three heads looking mighty and fierce.

Small flames were produced under his paws, and his fur had a red and black pattern that Camille thought looked pretty.

'This is REALLY getting out of hand…' Camille thought, gritting her teeth and glancing at the unconscious Dante beside her.
