Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 301: What are you doing?
Chapter 301: What are you doing?
She was just about to speak again when Cain stepped forward, pulling her right into his arms even as she glared at him, while he beamed at her.
"I’m fine! Don’t I look fine?" he asked, even as he stared at her with his golden-colored eyes, with an expression that made him look wild and untamed, as his hair did, which only made him look even more dashing than usual.
"Cain..." She was about to speak to him again, only to watch him pick her hand up, kissing alongside the rims of her fingers with his lips in a way that reminded her of things she would rather not remember.
As he went ahead to push her fingers into his mouth, his tongue moved against the rim of her nails in a way that made her swallow.
Speaking with her index finger in his mouth, he murmured, "Do you know what I’d rather be doing right now?"
The expression in his eyes said enough to show that it involved her on her back on the bed or lying on her stomach while still being in the bed.
"Cain! You’re not going to distract me!" Violet responded with a slight warning in her tone, even as she watched the smirk on his face widen, his eyes spelling mischief in a way that worried Violet. She instantly stepped back out of his hands, jerking her fingers away from him.
"You’re eating with me!" she said in a tone that made it clear he had no choice in the matter, as she held his gaze before moving to walk past him.
The low sound of Cain chuckling followed behind her as she moved towards the dining area of the huge wing, only to change direction towards the door when a sudden knocking sound was heard.
Violet pulled the door open, not surprised to see that it was the servant who had previously attended to her, who then strolled in with a trolley of food.
The meal was soon arranged on the dining table before the servant instantly turned around to leave, shutting the door tightly behind him.
Violet immediately sat down and began to make a plate for herself, Cain a step behind her, moving at a much slower pace even as he did the same things she did.
But the difference was in the things they each piled on their plates. While Violet’s plate was full and ravenous, like a starving man who felt the plate was too small, Cain’s own was pretty small.
So much so that there were only a couple of things on it.
Worse was the way he seemed to nibble at each spoonful he took, whether it was meat or vegetables, neither of which he seemed to be interested in.
It almost made Violet feel bad, considering the speed with which she ate her own food, which was more than three times that of his, but still, it delighted her that he was eating, no matter how little it was.
But she had just lowered her head to take another spoonful of the hot chicken soup she was eating with ginger garlic bread when she suddenly watched Cain jerk out of his chair and turn around.
Taking large and long strides straight to the bathroom, he left her with a confused expression on her face as she instantly flew off her chair, running towards him.
Only to hear the sounds of retching even before she got to the bathroom, where she saw him lowered over the sink, throwing up every single bit of food he had eaten until there was nothing else to throw up.
If before she had been worried, the sight of him throwing up made her feel twice as much anxiety, even as she watched him rinse his mouth and try to calm her down in the same breath.
"Relax, Violet! I’m fine! I guess I’m just a little sick!" Cain said with a heavy sigh as he let out a deep and strangled breath.
"We wouldn’t need doctors if we also didn’t get sick!" he continued, referring to werewolves, who indeed had specialized doctors.
Violet, though, wasn’t having it as she stood beside the door, staring at him with a look vastly close to that of horror.
"You’re throwing up!" she said in a completely aghast tone, almost like she was flabbergasted by how calmly he was taking his current situation compared to how he needed to take it.
"You’re clearly not fine... and it’s obviously very serious!" she told him as she stared at him. His face looked much paler than before, even as she stood by the entrance of the bathroom and stared intensely at him.
"You need to go to the hospital!" she told him with a very severe look on her face, expecting to hear Cain refuse and not surprised when she heard the words she expected him to say.
"I will! But not now!" he told her as he stood in front of her by the entrance, making his intention to pass known, but Violet had no intention of letting him pass as she folded her hands against her chest and glared at him.
"...and why the hell not? There’s something more important than the fact that you’re terribly sick when you shouldn’t be?" she asked with a truly astounded expression on her face.
"I’ve always been cursed, Violet! This is not news! I drank something when I was young, and it messed with my blood and made my will unstable!"
"Sometimes I get worse, and sometimes I get better!" he said in a slightly exasperated tone, even as Violet’s brows only furrowed closer together.
She looked at him, about to respond with another question about why it would get worse after they bonded and not better when she suddenly felt herself being lifted off the ground.
Cain couldn’t even pretend to exert himself as he carried her with a high smile on his face all the way to the bed, where he climbed onto the bed with her in his arms.
"Wh-what are you doing?" she hurriedly gasped, trying to push him away, her heart racing almost in expectation of what was to come, even as she continued to fight him off, only to feel him lean closer, his arms wrapped around her from behind as he whispered into her ears.
